For a company that is so careful with maintaining a family-friendly image, it's strange to me that they are allowing stuff like this on their store.

I don't get it at all.

Edit: And to clarify, I'm not looking at it from a "mature content" viewpoint in terms of violence or sexualized characters. Obviously, Switch has games like Borderlands and Xenoblade 2.

Nor am I outraged or asking for it to be taken down. But my surprise comes from the fact that the literal point of the game -- the entire gameplay loop -- is blatant misogyny. That is the game from head to toe.

I don't see the issue with censored porn games if they're properly rated and with no sexualized kids.

For their games, yes.

They stopped caring about third parties since n64. The MK debacle hurt them and never repeated that mistake.

Switch has parental control, doesn't it?
So I believe that these types of games doesn't appear on the E-Shop if you enter with the profile that is under parental control.

Because Nintendo does not have major problem with adult content in games? Just because they don't use it in most of their games does not mean they will censor other devs.

Can we talk about that controller in the picture though? Wtf are those buttons on the left side and stick on the right, controller for lefties?

This is what Furukawa had to say at a shareholder's meeting:

Nintendo, as do 3rd-parties and their software, applies for an objective rating from 3rd-party organizations prior to release. If platform-holding companies choose arbitrarily, the diversity and fairness in game software would be significantly inhibited. We provide parental controls that can be used to apply limits.

Never heard of it now, but thx for bringing it up OP. Regarding your question, guess Nintendo relaxed alot of rules to allow for More "mature" themes on the Eshop

From screenshots I've seen of xenoblade 2, there are more revealing characters in that than this.

Pervert money is still money*.

I'm joking, people who play these games aren't necessarily perverts*.

** I'm not a pervert.

I honestly wonder why people care about some random games in the eShop people won't download anyway unless they are looking for it.

There are thousands of title in the eShop...no point in playing content police when you opened the floodgates once.

Some people are acting as if the eShop space is limited and these games take space away from better quality titles. Kids that buy a Switch for Animal Crossing and Mario Kart are not suddenly downloading Waifu Uncovered. They don't even know that these kind of games exist nor are they looking for them.

Yeah, they shouldn't promote games where waifus are this ugly. Shame on Nintendo.

I find it funny how Nintendo went from overly controlling and limiting all releases to allowing basically everything.

Having said that I think it's hard to find a middle way. When they used to check everything this severely hampered game releases, especially for indie developers I guess. This way we are getting a lot of great indie content and games from smaller developers on Switch. I guess I prefer it this way.

With parental settings this should not be an issue and I am also not really bothered by the mass of shovelware since it just disappears in the mass of games.

However I would appreciate some stricter limitations for sexist games like this.

as long as those games don't promote heinous content I don't really see the issue ? I guess it'd be nice to have light parental settings without needing to download an app on your phone.

Someone clearly wasn't around when Sexy Poker was on the Wii Shop Channel.

Nintendo's family friendly image has always been just marketing and has become less and less reflective of reality as time has gone by. You can get games like Doom, Senran Kagura, and all sorts of M rated games on Nintendo systems.

Nintendo cares about the family friendly image only so far as Mario and its kid appeal franchises go. Once it comes to 3rd parties, or even their own franchises aimed at an older crowd, all bets are off.

As long as a game is appropriately rated why would nintendo care?

Well, I'm not looking at it from a "mature content" viewpoint in terms of violence or sexualized characters.

My surprise comes from the fact that the literal point of the game -- the entire gameplay loop -- is blatant misogyny.

They've understand the world is progressively becoming cornier and they have to appeal to this growing population.

Rating boards are there for that.
If it's not AO (lol) and devs respect the guidelines, what is the issue? It's not a game they're publishing either.

On that note it's actually been temporarily removed from the Japanese eShop because CERO determined there's too much nipple and it has to be adjusted.

I agree OP. I can't believe Nintendo would allow a game with a back to front Playstation like controller on their system.

Well, in a time were even Sony started to reign some japanese 3rd party developers in to take a step back with the sexualisation Nintendo released the same games without any changes in content.

They seem to don't care as long as it serves their sales.

Without getting into the content or that debate, I would argue that the lack of eshop curation is a big problem that Nintendo should actively be looking into solving. Lots of great indie games are now getting overlooked due to the garbage that is floating to the top.

In regards to this game itself, it looks pretty stupid.

This reminds me of Sentimental Shooting. Fucking stupid game, but I guess it was kinda fun for the 10 minutes I played when I was 16.

I'd only expect Nintendo to police misogyny unless a game takes it to a violent extreme (like a game called WIFE BEATER or something). So long as the ESRB gives it the okay, Nintendo will continue being okay with horny/lewd/sexually depraved content like this will continue being on the store.

There's a blatant pedophilia game on the eshop. Like a straight up eroge game about primary school age girls just with the nudity cut out for the eshop release.

Why do I know this? Because I seen a new visual novel on the eshop and I popped the name into google to see if it was a decent VN worth playing.
