Reminds me of films and series not showing any numbers when it's about money... they usually write something on a piece of paper you never see or they talk about vague amounts. And yes, it's annoying and could be improved for immersion.

I mean if this took place in LA it would be accurate. Most places that aren't franchises there are called like Alcohol or Convenience Store, Laundromat etc. and when they aren't usually have some sort of sign like that on the building that's the same size or bigger than the name of the store, It's bizarre.

Every time I go to E3 I always get a burrito at a family run place called Burritos because they make really good Burritos last year it was closed so my friend took me to different burrito place across town. It was called something like Burritos and Tacos.

Don't forget Resident Evil 2 and Yakuza are Japanese developed games. They might just not know what an acceptable name would be. Not like you can localise a sign right?

Surely that's the reason?

The same reason that
Superdry 極度乾燥 (しなさい)!

translates into :
extreme dryness (do it)

The people naming it didn't speak the language.

You do realise that they are a British brand? The whole Japanese thing is just marketing.

I think it's hilarious and cute. For anyone playing the RE3 demo, early on there's a snack shop in the subway where you should zoom in on the bags of chips they have for sale.

Here's two more examples, both from Yakuza 0:
These are probably not only intentional, but exist in real life. Some Japanese businesses like to use English in order to stand out (for better or worse).
Even generic English names/letters can be eye-catching amidst all the kanji and kana.

"Restaurant" is pretty funny, though. I wonder if they have "Hamburger" on the menu...

I thought you meant when the PLAYER names them.

It's a game where you own a pet store. Little kid me named mine "Dog Palace"...
