Who would be easier to replace - Peter Falk or James Garner?
James Garner is my favorite actor, his ease and charisma always struck a chord with me. Falk was great, but James Scott Rockford is my GOAT
Make it a Sri Lankan dude, none of the murderers would take a scruffy brown dude seriously so it plays perfectly well into Columbo.
Columbo is the best cop in TV and movie history but Garner's Rockford is harder to replace imo. I can picture people doing the bumbling goofy detective schtick well but Rockford's charm is more difficult to emulate.

A popular streamer murders a reporter who has uncovered his Neo-Nazi connections. When playing a battle royale game the next day, his fans are puzzled to see a shabby brown guy in a worn-out trenchcoat popping up behind the streamer on his scarecam. The streamer notices the comments in chat speculating on whether or not it's some sort of gag and jumps out of his seat, screaming "Who are you? Get out before I call the police!" The strange man pauses, then says "actually, sir, I'm with the police. I'm Lieutenant Columbo. I believe it was your girlfriend that let me in. You see, I'm with homocide, and I wanted to ask you a few questions." The streamer fumbles as he reaches to turn off his webcam.
I'm feeling it. It can work.
I wasn't even born until '87 and I was still big enough into Columbo that I'll always be a little sad they didn't get to do that "real series finale" movie they had in mind. Of course, it's far sadder than Mr. Falk suffered so near the end of his days. ;_;

Sam Rockwell! You need someone you can buy as a dumbass then flips the script and ends up being the smartest guy in the room. I just don't buy Ruffalo as the dumbass. Same reasoning for the Forrest Whitaker idea.
Which one of you stole my idea and runs this Twitter account. I want answers.
