We don't know, that'd be under embargo as it would likely be post story in this gameI haven't followed the news on this at all, since I'm definitely getting it and prefer to go in blind on story stuff. Is there any news of a non-story mode, like the map mode in HW1 where you explored the Zelda 1 map?

When I played Hyrule Warriors DE I was sooooo disappointed to learn how obscure and difficult some of the character unlocks were (I didn't play legends or the DLC for that so I was excited to finally play those characters). I really hope there isn't anything like that hereFrom what I can tell, everything is on the map this time. Story Mode, extra missions, Challenges, etc.
What I'm curious about is if there are any "hidden" characters tucked away on the map that aren't part of the main mission.
I can't even remember how DE did it. I thought all the characters were unlocked from the start? Or was that only the original cast? When I played Hyrule Warriors DE I was sooooo disappointed to learn how obscure and difficult some of the character unlocks were (I didn't play legends or the DLC for that so I was excited to finally play those characters). You have a cool avatar of Golbez, by the way. Is that from an official game, or is it fanmade? I don't think I recognize it.I wonder how the DLC are going to work if they have to put everything on the same map.
Also with the datamined potential characters, it could get pretty crowded already.
I just remember reading that you had to do specific squares on the challenge or adventure maps or whatever to unlock a lot of them and just noped out. DLC ones should be unlockable in the main campaign somehow imo, even if they aren't part of the story. Like Marin, Toon Zelda and them were unlockable on adventure mapsI can't even remember how DE did it. I thought all the characters were unlocked from the start? Or was that only the original cast?

I could see additional Map screens/sub maps, all it'd take is a swap buttonI wonder how the DLC are going to work if they have to put everything on the same map.

It's published by Nintendo, it will suffer the $60 forever curseNormally I don't Iike hectic or button-mashy games, but I... Don't hate this. I'm honestly floored by how much I enjoyed the demo.
Do Warriors games ever go on sale, or will this suffer the "$60 forever" Nintendo curse?

Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors DE have both gone down to $40 on the eShop, but it certainly doesn't happen often. It's published by Nintendo, it will suffer the $60 forever curse

Cheers. If there's no point in waiting, I'll probably grab it sooner rather than later.Fire Emblem Warriors and Hyrule Warriors DE have both gone down to $40 on the eShop, but it certainly doesn't happen often.
Oh yeah, I know that. There's a datamine of the potential roster it has its own thread
I had assumed the footage of the characters fighting Rito and Gerudo was some training missions or something.
Nope, they are straight up fighting each other for realsies within the context of the story.
There is a Demo on the Eshop. Is this gonna be worth it at all if I don't give a shit about Musou games?
Do I care about Zelda games? Sure. But I tried DW7 once and I think my experience was perfectly described by a translated Japanese forum post I read once -- a lawnmower game.
I watched (here), and you are right. Framerate in their video is far better than in others (looks almost like 60 FPS). That raises a few questions, because the difference is blatantly noticeable compared to pretty much every single other gameplay video released so far.Has someone realized that the framerate in the Nintendo World Report's preview video is way better than in the other preview videos?
We've seen some comments about the frame rate seeming high in this video. We did not intentionally modify the video in any way and are currently investigating if this is an encoding issue on our end or on YouTube. Thank you for understanding.
They talk about an encoding issue, so probably the game runs at 30 fps and they or YT accidentally upscaled the video frameratewise, if that's possible.I watched (here), and you are right. I'm curious about what NWR has to say as to how/why their gameplay videos look so different.
Edit: They are aware of the difference, and are looking into it, as an official YouYube comment mentions:
Probably didn't realize they accidentally captured footage of themselves playing on Switch Pro.They talk about an encoding issue, so probably the game runs at 30 fps and they or YT accidentally upscaled the video frameratewise, if that's possible.
But that is the best part! Having those requirements and failing to get a S rank are what pushed me to learn the maps and the special conditions of each battle so that I had to come up with a strategy. Having a damage condition also requires you to use blocking and dodging and learning enemy attacks. If you remove that, the game is just a button masher, this is like 50% of the core experience. Is it confirmed that, just like in the demo, the full game also doesn't have a mission-ranking system? Because stressing about getting X number of kills within Y amount of time while taking less than Z points of damage just so I could get an S rank was legitimately my least favorite part of the original.
holy shit why? Wasn't Urbosa close friends with Zeldas mom and knew her since she was a kid?
Why wouldn't it be? Nintendo stated the game is canon. everything we've seen suggested it is.Good to know this is really canon after all, can't wait to play it.
We need actual reviews to be sure.
As for NWR's videos, well, we can safely assume those are not representative of the actual product. A warning may be in order on the first page.
I'm still very curious about how their capture footage suddenly turned out to be 60 FPS. Either it's a capture/encoding "issue", either they do have a Switch Pro (but, obviously, if this is the case, we will never know because of NDA - I don't actually believe they have one, but heh).
They should have taken down their videos and re-uploaded rectified versions of them in any case.
most likely two days before release4 days to go!
Do we know when the review embargo lifts? I hope it's not day of...
I returned to the demo after playing a good bit of original Hyrule Warriors and the game is so, so so much better even though the framerate chucks a lot. The enemies don't feel spongy and the gameplay feels much more fluid - I can't wait for this to come out.
Yeah I think the improvement is huge, I do hope the full game keeps up the momentum, because original HW just got very formulaic very quickly.yes, me too I prefer Calamity over the first one, that was already (to me) a very good Mosou (with many elements taken from Zelda, like bosses, items and so on).

Totally, this is what I am hoping for. The fact the maps are lifted from/modeled after the BotW rather than being a bunch of squares connected with corridors really helps wthe game feel organic.Probably (we'll see!) the fact that this is very strictly connected to the original BOTW will help a little bit in creating specific situations (like the one in the demo where you have to "escort" Zelda against the Guardians)

LookHowTheyMassacredMyBoy.gifJust hijacking this as I don't want to go into the spoiler thread. I almost cancelled my Amazon UK order for this in favour of picking up a copy locally here in NL.
Until I saw the boxart:
Do we know if the final game has better performance than the demo?
If the demo is representative of the overall quality of the game, I think it can land on the 85-90 range. It's still a Musou game so I'd be surprised if this gets anywhere near the 90s. It'll hit mid to low 80s at best.
