There are also some character-specific tactics for forcing the weakpoint gauge to appear. Mipha can place a fountain near an enemy with ZR and then warp to it by tapping ZR again, launching her into the air right above her opponent. Attacking from the air seems to reveal the weakpoint gauge, just long enough to finish it off if it's nearly empty. I stacked midair damage buffs on her precisely because I regularly employ this tactic.
It seems not all enemies are weak to air-attacks. Moblins definitely do. So are Taluses obviously. It seems to be more inconsistent on other enemies.

That Mipha move is broken and apparentely super easy to dodge cancel as soon as you land, even with Flurry Rush build like the others my Mipha eats through Weakpoint gauge like butter, I imagine with Midair buffs even more so. As soon as I get seal removal I'll try mixing Flurry Rush seals with midair stuff, thanks for the tip

I found a Korok balloon on the stage where you fight Revali...hit it a bunch and it just spun around? Is it character specific?

Has there been any DLC mentions from data mines this weekend?
I've been avoiding the spoiler thread but I remember seeing that
There are 23~25 character slots
along with having a full set of animations from being bosses Sooga and Astor(?) have a full set of character reaction portraits. Robbie and Purah also have a full set of playable character reaction portraits. That's all I've seen so far

Neiteio's gameplay look breakdown

Here's how I would describe the gameplay loop during missions:

1) Check the objectives, listed on the right of the screen: Is the mission timed? Are there time extensions? Is there a kill count goal? Outposts to take? An allied base to defend? NPCs to escort? Is it a race to the finish? Or something else (i.e. collect X number of rupees, find specific treasure, etc)?

2) Check the map: What's the most efficient route to target? Are my allies together or separate? Is each route already open, or are there gates to open by defeating enemies with yellow circles on the map? (To examine map more closely: Pause with +, then tab left with L, then switch to map with L3 and zoom with R3.)

3) Fuel up: Plow through mobs of enemies as you run to your destination. Juggle bodies (even defeated ones that have turned black) to fuel your special attack meter.

4) Crates, barrels, etc: Smash them for rupees, materials, apples, sometimes elemental ammo. Wizzrobes and some other elemental enemies also provide ammo. (The challenge "A Feast for Wizzrobes" is brilliant for farming these.)

5) Strong enemies - the core of the gameplay: It's all about getting the weakpoint gauge to appear and then efficiently depleting it so you can execute a weakpoint attack with X for massive damage. The gauge can appear in a number of ways. The gauge appears after the enemy performs certain attacks, or after you perform a "perfect dodge" at the last second -- the latter triggers slow motion and prompts you to execute a "flurry attack" with Y, rapidly depleting the weakpoint gauge. Alternatively, when the enemy winds up for a big attack, a rune sometimes appears over their head -- use the corresponding rune (with proper aim and timing and spacing) to counter, stunning them and revealing the gauge. Special attacks deal damage and also reveal the gauge, but only for a short period of time -- however, it's still long enough to finish off the gauge if the gauge is low. Elemental rods immobilize the enemy and reveal the gauge for an extended period of time (but enemies of the same element are immune). Other ways to reveal and deplete the gauge: Bombs chip away at the gauge. Stasis prolongs it. Strikes to the face (i.e. arrows) stun and reveal the gauge. Parries (ZL to guard + Y to reflect attacks) reveal the gauge. Some aerial attacks reveal the gauge, such as Mipha's ZR waterspout warp. Explosive barrels, cryonis in pools of water, lightning in water or on metal crates, and other environmental hazards reveal the gauge.

So if time is tight and the weakpoint gauge is full, use rods to significantly damage the weakpoint gauge, special attacks to polish it off, and then rely on perfect dodges and counters. Try to lure strong enemies close together so multiple enemies get hit by the elemental rods, special attacks, weakpoint attacks, bomb blasts, etc. Also be mindful of incoming attacks from other enemies while locked onto a target -- you can even perfect-dodge one enemy's attack to attack another enemy in slow motion.

6) And finally... Watch your health! Eat those apples! Keep an eye on the clock! Switch to your allies to save keeps! Don't forget to blink! As the game progresses, elemental variants appear for every enemy, and the mobs lean more heavily on projectile spam, kamikaze attacks, etc, so it can get crazy. :)

Just defeated 4 minibosses at the same time in less than a minute, Impa did a Flurry Rush when they were grouped together, they didn't stand a chance.
But even Bosses are getting destroyed by this strat, Flurry Rush is highly skill based but once you master it and add buffs around it the whole game becomes a stylish action game where everything dies

I'm basically completing every side mission as they appear and making sure I'm caught up on the entire map before advancing to each story segment. It's a whole lot of fun and making me realize how much content there is in the game, but the downside is that I'm crazy over-leveled. It does make me feel godlike at times, though, which is nice.

For reference: I'm about 18 hours in, just about to do the first mission of chapter 5, and most of my characters are in the lvl 58-60 range (Link is at 61).

I'm super curious about how much of the BOTW map is in the game. When you fly around with Vah Medoh you can see pretty far and it becomes clear they removed a lot of elements, while also keeping a lot of things.

There will be an out of bounds video soon enough I hope to compare the maps. I'm not even close to finishing the game btw so we'll see how much more the game let's me explore.
I think that the game is not one big map like BotW, but several independent levels loaded on demand when you start a mission. If you manage to go out of bounds in any level you'll probably be surrounded by emptiness.

Flurry rush and less (and more useful) items to deal with makes combat with bigger enemies a lot more engaging than it was for Hyrule Warriors

Switching items was slow and outside of the specific enemies they were made for, the items were not that useful for combat, while it feels like all 4 of the slate runes are useful in combat, whether the enemy has a weakness to them or not

The windows to use the runes also feels larger than in Hyrule Warriors, where sometimes a bomb icon would flash for a second and you could barely even throw one in time, let alone swap to it.

I don't think there even was icon indicators in the original, was there? If there was I can barely remember them lol

Master Sword Link is as fun to play as the HWDE one.
I still have no idea how Hestu works though.

There was, but the windows were so tight they might as well have not existed

Like a Mobilin would leap in the air and you had the window of it being in midair to use a bomb

It was annoying...

I had coincidentally replayed through the game a few months before this game was announced, so it's pretty fresh in my mind

I truly don't know what I'm missing, I've done literally everything possible in chapter 4 and seal removal is nowhere to be found...

What cues am I looking for to extend Links heavy combos? Can't get the third hit after the shield bash to come out in the 5 light to heavy combo.

edit:oh wait you hold down heavy

Oh my GOD. Spoiler thoughts on certain unlockable characters through the main story (chapter 5, you probably know the ones):

I feel like I should be WAY pissier about the future Champions showing up, but Riju is so much fucking fun. Patricia is her weapon! I love it.

Teba is fine. I don't like is moveset as much as Revali's. Haven't unlocked the other two yet. I imagine that's where I'm heading next.

Yeah please spoiler tag any unlockable characters past the 4 champions (so from the end of chapter 2 onwards). There is a spoiler thread as well if you want to talk in detail about certain characters

You hold down heavy and release it at a certain point...I believe it's when the sword shines and makes a "shing" noise.

Took me awhile to learn to do it a few tries.

Honestly I don't find it that good, been using Link a lot and barely use it since most bosses get staggered by the shield bash itself

That is what I have been doing as well. Complete all the side missions and quests possible then move on to the next main mission.

I mean technically they were already in, As Rowan, Lisanna, and Robin.

Ditto, and I far prefer this flow to the original Hyrule Warriors. It's nice to space out the story and new content and pace it, rather than flying through it all at rapid speed only to play the same recycled stages + characters on loop afterwards.

I went back to the original HW for a bit last night and, as fun as it is, it feels like a fan game next to this.

So adventure maps in hyrule warriors gave the game alot of longevity. Without spoilers does this game have good incentives to do stuff once the main story is wrapped up?

Uh guys I'm sorry for bothering you again with this but I found this guide now and I've noticed on my map the Rito artisans quest doesn't exist even though I've completed all requirements a few days ago, am I screwed?
If the quest is bugged for good I think it will be impossible to remove seals
