Star-Wars-Anakin-Father-Emperor-Comic-600x300.jpg

Congratulations, Darth Sidious. You are the father!!!!

vader.jpg

In "Darth Vader" No. 25, Anakin unlocks a portal to the afterlife, in the hopes of resurrecting his dead wife, Padmé. What he finds are glimpses of his journey toward the dark side and the identity of his parents. He sees Shmi and the ghostly figure of Darth Sidious (aka Emperor Palpatine) behind her, using the dark side of the Force to impregnate her.

This was a hugely popular piece of theorycraft for 19 years, anyway. From the moment Shmi says there was no father there was no going back from the stupid. Full sail ahead; this is dumb but it makes enough sense to click with the rest of the idiocy.

Force Forced Impregnation ?

That was George Lucas that came up with this, right ?
It's hinted at in Episode III and then, apparently, was confirmed in one of the old EU novels. This, while not 100% confirming it, VERY heavily implies it to be the case in the new canon.

I'm very confused. She's already pregnant. So is Sidious/plageius not doing anything other than manipulating the unborn child? So they're not the father, then.

so was she just eating good before Darth Shiteous ghost impregnated her?

she seems kinda metal though which is cool. spiked bracelets being what every young pregnant mother needs.

Star Wars: a media franchise spanning an entire galaxy where every single named character is somehow related to each other.

This adds nothing. All it does is take away from Anakin as a character, reducing his choices down to pre-determined destiny beyond his control rather than the choices of who he was a person.

Him turning to the dark side wasn't a result of the influences around him and the consequences of his actions shaping his views. No, it was pre-ordained and planned from the start.

EDIT: Can't characters just be their own person anymore? Are we gonna find out that Steve Rogers isn't a good person because he's just a good person but because he was specially created by Shield to be a nice person?

1. Palpatine pretty much says this in the prequels.

2. This confirms nothing. Vader's having a trippy force vision in some weird dimensional place and everthing he sees there is metaphorical/not meant to be taken literally.

That said, I think this is another nod toward the idea rather than an outright confirmation. This will be one of those things that will always be left purposefully ambiguous.

Also, you all should read that Vader run. Absolutely incredible stuff.

The canon version was equally stupid. Can we agree people need to stop touching Vader and just leave his legacy in the prequels?

I thought it was the force in response to Sidiuous and his master's fuckery.

Plagueis decided to take his powers further and reached out to the midi-chlorians across the galaxy in order to gain dominance over them, but the Force resisted his efforts and refused. In response, the midi-chlorians acted of their own accord and conceived a child within the Human slave Shmi Skywalker.[25]

Disney promise George Lucas that they would not change movie canon stuff. The movies never confirmed this. George must be pissed.

Shmiive. Search your schedule. You know it to be true.

Oh I'm afraid this seed will be quite operational when your cycle arrives.

Can someone please elaborate more on the hints that were provided in the prequel?

I saw all episodes but I can't believe I missed this.

Prequels hint towards this.

Its stupid, but its clearly what Lucas wanted.

I hate that in this large galaxy everything seems to revolve around 1 family and small group of people.

Ok so say he instead corrupted an unborn, isn't that really stupid?

Didn't Anakin almost never get found on Tatooine? And it was incredible chance Qui Gon found him at all?

And didn't he and Qui Gon almost die a dozen times (including at the hands of Darth Maul, who Sidious SENT)?

And didn't the Jedi almost refuse to train Anakin because he was too old because he was on a backwater planet for so long (which again, what was Sidious planning here)?

I guess you just answer "the Force" to all these questions which isn't very narratively interesting or satisfying.

This is just another wonderfully stupid ingredient to what is already an immensely fucking dumb universe.

Why create him and then have him be raised by a random on Tatooine and then have him trained by the Jedi? All part of the plan?
