Here's where Im at with Howard. He's at the point now of just being freaking obnoxious.
He hates EVERYTHING... except the Bachelor (seriously.. wtf)

Howard is slowly becoming his parents. A grumpy old shut in.

But, the other side of the coin.. he's so damned good at interviews.

He's old and domesticated and basically on autopilot these days. His only real passion anymore is yucking it up with celebrities, which admittedly he's pretty good at.

As long as Benjy is alive, no one will be weirder.

The living arrangement thing is one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard.
College dorm crashing one week, living in a storage unit the next

I would feel safer hanging out with Benjy than that maniac Jon Hein. He also has severe road rage.

I hate Eric's voice so much. It always sounds like he's about to choke on his own saliva.

I'm so glad Stern fans and Era members have a crossover. It's relieving to find Stern fans online who arent borderline alt right

Actually, funnily enough, Howard probably helped me *lose* the right-wing leanings I had. When I first started listening (around 93-94), I was still a big Limbaugh fan. But hearing all the different kinds of people he had on his show really helped break my preconceived notions about things. It may sound silly saying that the Wack Pack helped me become a more tolerant and caring person, but it's true.

I am of the opinion High Pitch is playing up how dumb he is. If you look at the first time he came on the show in the 90s he seemed somewhat human.
I believe I already posted earlier in the thread how I won 1st place at the Beetleball. It was a Halloween Costume contest where the host was Beetlejuice, he was a judge, etc. etc. It was at a spot called Comix in NYC. They promoted it on the show pretty heavily, and there is even a 10 or so minute episode of the old Howard TV show about it.

Anyway the reason I give that back story is most of the staff except the Big 3 were there (Howard, Robyn, Fred). The best part though was damn near the entire wack pack (at the time) was also in attendance. So especially since it was in NYC, High Pitch was there and he wanted everyone to know.

Not only did I realize he was actually pretty fucking normal that night (Shuli introduced me to most of the wak pak after I won) I also realized High Pitch is a pretty big dick. Shuli literally said as much as we were walking away. Dude was so full of himself it was unreal.

Honestly it kind of sucked meeting him that night as I got to see behind the curtain so to speak. I realized at least with Erik, there was a very big aspect of playing shit up for the listeners. Although it was something I always realized and knew had to be the case, it still kind of sucked to have it confirmed.

Anyway just wanted to share, your opinion that he is playing it dumb is no doubt very much the reality of the situation.

Ronnie pisses me off because he has ridiculously thin skin and there's just no reason for him to be that way. You're a millionaire pseudo-celebrity in your 70s with a 30-year-old wife, you can take a ribbing from time to time.

He acts like my teenage daughter when she gets in her moods...

I said nothing was wrong. I just won't talk."

The funniest thing about Ronnie is that after he takes a dump, he sits in the sink and washes his ass.

Hiiiii. This is Sal Governale.

I was simply making a joke that white women typically don't have sex with black men.

Maybe it was in a different Stern thread, but I've commented before on how I stopped listening when he had a "worst caller" contest at the end of the year, then in January proceeded to take calls from those same people (Maryann, Bobo, Speech Impediment Man), every single day. I mean I know some people hated Eric the Actor and considered him a shitty caller, but I could listen to him all day long. Those people I mentioned though had zero redeeming qualities. Sorry Fred, the crow sound effects played over Maryann's annoying voice stopped being funny decades ago.

Anyways, reading through this thread I decided to listen to the "Brent in LA" episode since you guys were talking about it so much, and holy shit, this is legit one of the greatest episodes I've ever heard! I'm leaning towards believing the woman, but Robin's angry "You have no honor Brent" comment is throwing me for a loop.

More has come out since then-on the Hollywierd Squares episode. Katlyn said that while she did indeed fuck people that Brent didn't interview ahead of time, Brent was trying to DATE the women out there-not just have sex. Of course since this whole thing happpened, Brent and Katelyn have bunkered down and seemed to collaborate a "statement" for the show as opposed to unfiltered honesty. So who knows.

I'm on Team Jackhammer.

It doesn't even sound like they do a lot of swinging together. Like Brent talks about all the times they struck out swinging and that's it. Then suddenly it's an open thing and Katelyn's got a professional porn star on deck before the ink even dries on their arrangement.

It's just such an obvious power imbalance that it's hard not to think that Kate isn't just using him for stability.

Howard's nemesis... Don Imus.. has died.
In 1970, Don Imus worked at WGAR in Cleveland, before hitting it big in New York City at WNBC a year later. He passed away on Friday in Texas.

Imus is dead, wow! I don't even think Howard in his new persona can say anything good about him.

I'm not happy about it, but Imus was such an enormous asshole that it's hard to feel anything about this news.

What in the hell is with Howard's obsession with Oprah?

It has to be professional jealousy.

it is absolutely 100% bizarre. He's so angry about everything Oprah related. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that about 10 years ago he tried to become Gayle King's friend and then that went nowhere.

He has a severe hang up about his place in the celebrity pecking order. Remember when he didn't get a good seat at the Ed Bradley funeral and he threw a fit?

I agree. He definitely has issues. You can hear in the questions he asks. Like when he asks people if they get jealous when other people are successful. He says it drives him crazy.

He's admitted to being an overly-competitive narcissist before. It's part of why he was so successful; he was obsessed with taking down guys like Imus and dominating radio.

Him and Oprah probably have a lot in common like that.

Whenever he brings up using Siri the use case is always "How much money is this person worth?"

Imagine being obsessed with that.

Oprah is also totally the opposite of Howard. She is always happy and gets a ton of positive attention for doing the smallest things.

Howard's obsession with Oprah is weird but inline with his box of wacko motivating energies.

The new-ish format with the panel is fucking annoying. Memet, Ronnie, Shuli, Brent... I hate them all. All their shtick seems so fake. They all seem like such poor imitators.

I long for the days of Jackie, Artie, EtA, and when Richard and Sal and all their authentic dramas/weirdness was featured.

I like the current crew, but since I'm a new listener I'm pretty biased. Ronnie gets on my nerves when he starts acting like a petulant baby but when he's not on that shit he's pretty funny.

He's also absolutely BRUTAL about her weight.

She's a chairperson and ambassador. She's actually had results with the product. God forbid she's not sickly thin like he's turned out to be.

It's just amazing to me the hangs up that he's got now that he's older.. and more isolated from reality.

"No.. it's fine. Nope.. totally fine." That's "Ronald"

In all honesty... Ron creeps me the hell out and it makes me wonder what is wrong with his fiancee. He is literally old enough to be her grandpa
