Seeing this game is on sale on PSN and just looking for opinions on it? I finished Human Revolution a few years ago and really enjoyed it. How does this one compare?

It's a great 50% of a game.

Well, honestly it's a good game, but the ending felt rushed and inconclusive. I think Human Revolution is the better game by a large margin. Mankind Divided has better visuals though.

Massively better than Human Revolution, but a massively bad story.

Play it for the world and the sidequests.

Pretty disappointing story after Human Revolution with a really abrupt ending. Not sure I would recommend it since it looks like we will never get a sequel.

Half-baked side quests and main story. You can tell it was pushed out the oven before it was ready. Real shame.

Mechanically stronger than Human Revolution, and the environments are downright gorgeous, but people have been disappointed over the story being of a smaller scale.

For some reason I can't quite put my finger on, I couldn't get into it like I did with Human Revolution. I finished it, don't get me wrong. But it was like I was on auto-pilot the whole time. Compared to HR, where I soaked up every detail, read every email, talked to every NPC etc etc. Mankind Divided failed to grab me in any remotely similar fashion.

But, like, it's a fine game, I guess.

Great gameplay, but the story and cast are pretty forgettable. Not too fond of the Prague hub either, didn't feel cyberpunk-ish enough to me. Overall I enjoyed Human Revolution a fair bit more, and the original Deus Ex even more than that.

It's great! A smaller, "day in the life of Jensen". It's a shame that it's clearly the middle part of a trilogy and we will never find out what happened to

Best cyberpunk game I've ever played. Probably the game with the best take on discrimination I've seen. Fantastic game overall, get it!

I didn't find it as engaging as the first. It basically felt like Adam Jensen super spy with an unfinished story and an inferior supporting cast. I also found the after credits "twist" to be nothing too amazing.

If you wanna have fun getting lost and getting an intimate knowledge of the intricacies of an environment, it's fantastic. Aesthetic is top-fucking-notch.

Story ain't great.

Mechanically it understands Deus Ex a lot better than Human Revolution. But it still misses the point in places. There's a glaring separation between areas where you're supposed to walk around, and areas where stealth and action and stuff actually happens. IMO it's a really good game, but the Eidos Montreal games struggle to live up to Deus Ex and Invisible War.

It's good, but not the near classic that Human Revolution is. For some reason, the devs thought it would be a good idea to have 70% of the game take place in a single city.

I loved the first one, and this one is a great more of the same with some improvement, but the story is overall worse and less interesting.
Still a great game on the Deus Ex series, so it's totally worth it.

Gonna echo the general sentiment here: gameplay is fine, story is disappointing and the end is fairly abrupt.

Very good game that suffered from a very bad advertising campaign. Wish it was longer, but there's a lot of hidden details that are fun to explore. Give it a go.

Story is bilge like others have said but the actual game is very good. The smaller open world really works and you get to know every area. It's not just a map with icons on it; every part of it has interesting things going on

I really enjoyed it and while it falls short of Human Revolution or the original it was still a great game with many standout qualities and moments. It is however the setup to a story we likely won't see the continuation of, though as a game it feels like it has enough content on it's own. The second DLC episode was also quite good with a fairly unique premise (being set inside a prison with much less focus on combat). I'd definitely recommend it, especially for cheap.

Top3 this gen for me. Best game of its kind. The moment-to-moment gameplay never gets boring. Best sci-fi (blade runner-esque) atmosphere and general art direction in gaming. Story could be better, but the lore scattered throughout the "map" and side missions is great
Edit: I didn't finish HR and loved this one

Absolutely terrific game, it has a ton of problems compared to Human Revolution, but that game was so crazy good (except for the terrible bossfight).

It's great. It's a bit rougher than Human Revolution and some ideas are real head scratchers, like the shutdown part, but if you liked HR you owe it to yourself to give it a go.

I really couldnt get into it and I played through HR 4 or 5 times. Story didnt grip me, exploration felt really artificial and immersion breaking. I know thats hypocritical cause HR had the same but for some reason it just didnt click together in MD.

I love it. Amazing atmosphere, visuals, side quests, and character work. Ho hum main plot but it takes you to some really cool locations.

From a graphical and gameplay level its such a big leap over human revolution that it makes it hard to go back to that game.

What UnluckyKate said is spot on. The main-story is the only issue for me, but that's what happens if your publisher keeps meddling with the game.

I highly recommend playing the side-stories. They are sometimes better than major parts of the main story.

Best cyberpunk game I've ever played. Probably the game with the best take on discrimination I've seen. Fantastic game overall, get it!

I agree and while it was pretty controversial, this is one of my favourite Live Action trailers ever:

This makes me want to see a movie set in the Deus Ex world.

Not near as good as HR, but well worth the price its at now. Pretty sure I saw it in the under 4 quid section, right? Which is a steal.

Some amazing atmosphere and gameplay, and probably the best "hub" area I've ever seen in a game. If it's the last Adam Jensen game, then that's just a fucking tragedy.

There had to be some negatives I'm not remembering (besides the ham fisted social narrative) but overall it's a game that's definitely worth playing.

Oh yeah! Didn't have a lot of David Sarif and he had a different VA. That's a negative.

I loved it, solid Deus Ex gameplay, sneaking around, taking guys out or avoiding totally, breaking into people's apartments, reading emails, climbing up places to access secrets, solid missions and environments, great atmosphere and details. DLC worth a punt too.

Only thing is, one main hub this time, however it does change over the course of the game (time of day and other differences as you go on). The story feels a little unfinished, but I wouldn't say this was any less of a game than HR, doesn't feel short or anything, just unresolved plot point that maybe a DLC or sequel would have addressed.

I had a blast playing it. The story feels unfinished because there was supposed to be another game but what's there is very satisfying.

The music is also the best

Absolutely. The OST is fantastic. My favourite track:

Ends abruptly

Feels unfinished (narratively).

Because it is. Back in 2013, they actually announced the "Deus Ex universe", which according to them "isn't a single game but rather an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games". After Deus Ex: Mankind Divided released, we learned some interesting things, like Square Enix mandating the game to be split into 2 parts and Eidos having a B-Team already working on the sequel in mid 2015. For more details, I recommend watching this.

I thought it was a lot of fun to play but I can understand people saying the story sort of just ends in the middle without resolving all that much.

Really wish it had a third game.

I was sour on the game at reveal because it dismissed my choices in the previous game. I saved Farida. I saved her, we were going to move to a small cottage in the alps and have a wonderful life together.

Lost interest around 50% story completion. Gunplay is pretty bad and I like to play rambo style. I actually liked the first game more. It wasn't great ether but somehow more enjoyable.

Get PREY instead if you didn't play that yet. It's the better Deus Ex in every way possible.
