100Mbit/s, which is what I have now, comes to about 45GB/hour. (100/8*60*60).
So a 100GB game would take me just over 2 hours to download. 1Gbps we'd be talking about 15 minutes, which sounds perfectly reasonable.

How fast is your Internet at home for downloads/uploads?

I fear that by the time 1Gbps is standard, we will have terabyte sized games due to 16K assets.
1 GBps both ways. It's cheap too. Of course, not data caps shenanigans.

I get 50 d / 10 u which is pretty good for the arse end of nowhere in the Pennines and it's only FTTC... No data caps and pretty cheap too.

100/10, no data cap. Good enough for me, if I can download my games reasonably quick and have my netflix/youtube/browsing I don't need anything faster.

I live in Costa Rica. I have higher than average (considering the local infrastructure) speed at 50megs. Its "ok", things download eventually and all Netflix, Prime and Youtube shows stream at 4K, HDR (or Dolby Vision) without hitches. I pay around $120 per month.
Considering how things can actually be managed and mitigated:
Nintendo is the most professional and responsible video company I know (few patches, small sizes). This generation went full stupid on the Xbox and PS4 with the patch sizes (30 gigs for a patch?)

750/750 fibre is what the modem gets. But with real world wifi constraints my phone gets closer to 150/100 in actual useable bandwidth.
I get like 113Mbps down and I thought that was pretty fast.
But seeing people on here with 1000Mbps down holy shit that seems insane to me.

I can't believe the speeds I'm seeing in this thread. I live on the outskirts of London and consider myself lucky yet my speeds are still a lot slower than in other countries. Can't even imagine what it's like for people in the UK further away from the centre of cities.
Granted, we get unlimited data. Can't imagine having a home internet data cap, so there's that i guess.

150/20. I have no problems streaming UHD content. I could upgrade to 1gbps, but don't see the need right now.
I have Cox Gigablast Service. It's supposed to be 1 Gbps down, 35 Up over copper. In reality, I get about 850 Mbps Down and 35 Mbps Up. I also pay $50 for unlimited data. I'm glad I don't have to worry about going over that measly 1 TB bullshit cap.

250/15 Mbps down/up, but this is over WiFi on my laptop since I don't have a desktop PC hooked up via ethernet (or even an ethernet cable at all, or else I'd check to compare with my laptop). I got Comcast, so I got a 1TB cap but since I'm the only person in my house who uses the internet, I've never come close to the cap.
Can't complain about the down speed at all, but do wish I had faster upload speeds, just for convenience.
Think we're paying like $120/mo for it, but that's including TV (I live with my grandpa and he still likes watching regular TV cuz he doesn't really get streaming and stuff), IDK how much the internet is by itself, I don't have a bill on-hand (and I can't be assed to check online)
