So Microsoft just announced Game Pass for PC and will also be releasing all their upcoming exclusives on PC. Soon we get to play all the Halo games on PC. Every Xbox exclusive is going to be on PC. Including online play.
And that's where things get weird. PC players will be able to play Xbox games using the same account, connecting to the same servers and using the same friends list as on an Xbox console. But for some reason if you choose to switch from the computer to the console under your TV, you get paywalled out of online features even though it's the same game.
PC gamers are just getting a better deal here. No need for Gold here - all you need is Game Pass for PC (Ultimate is useless for PC-only players), or those who prefer Steam can buy the games there. It makes the next gen Xbox Scarlett look like poor value with the mandatory extra subscription fee.
Will paid online ever die?
