House Representative & civil rights legend John Lewis is diagnosed with stage IV Pancreatic Cancer

U.S. Rep. John Lewis has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, he said Sunday, adding that he plans to undergo treatment and remain in office.

The Atlanta Democrat, 79, said his cancer diagnosis was confirmed during a routine medical visit this month. He said he's "clear-eyed" about the prognosis, but hopeful that new treatment options give him a "fighting chance."

"I've been in some kind of fight – for freedom, equality, basic human rights – for nearly my entire life," he said. "I have never faced a fight quite like this one."

Stage 4? At 79? Damn...that's a fucking shame. Poor guy is a goner, but 79 is a pretty good long life. Hope he's able to stay in office for a long while.
