Well hot girls have never lead me astray before so I believe it. Can't wait for Nintendo to do a surprise midnight launch of BotW 2!
it's a mindshare/marketing thing, it's not a zero sum game of "overshadowing"
spacing their social media presence out as much as they can will always be beneficial. there's going to be like 6 weeks between major first party releases, and ideally announcements and news will fill that time. there is no reason to try to make a big media splash in the week directly between two huge game launches.
I put it somewhere different. It's like... as much as a lot of us are legit looking forward to Clubhouse Games (myself included) that game is the prime definition of Nintendo's "evergreen titles." It's not a media moment in time, there won't be a lot of zeitgeist. It'll be a game where, if you want to play solitaire, poker, chinese checkers, whatever the fuck "hare and hounds" is, etc, on a Switch? There you go. It's going to be the game parents buy for their families pre-road trip.
from a marketing perspective, Nintendo wants to occupy people's minds as much as possible for as long as possible. there's no reason to drop a huge announcement in the (and I cannot stress it enough) single week between two first party game launches
Then why did they even tweet about Paper Mario earlier? I get what you're saying, they want to point people at the thing they can spend money on right now. That makes total sense. But you have to keep in mind that, at this point next week, we're back to the "nintendoomed" position of having a single first party Nintendo game with a date. They really could use something to be like "yes, Zelda is coming this year/early next year" or something like that.

Jep. Its simple: they dont get anything by doing it in the moment clubhouse games releases. Or, they could be cheeky, and put a plug for clubhouse games infront of the trailer. Not as an add. As an intro trailer.
I think recent events have suggested they're comfortable with this status quo for now. Once there's one game on the horizon, a new one gets announced for a few months out.
and a throwaway Tweet about an announced game is different than a brand new announcement
I'm legit going to have to cancel my Clubhouse games pre-order if a BOTW2 trailer is shown.
She did a wink face reply to Nintendo's recent tweet with the Samus helmet scene in the PMTOK trailer. BotW 2 seems to come from a different tweet where she speculates that it might be next week, so that wouldn't be the announcement happening this weekend.
Not that anything is gonna happen this weekend but yeah I think that's why those are getting talked about.
look, one game is the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time and is going to give you hours and hours of gameplay, with unique environments and mechanics
and the other is BOTW2.

LOL sorry yes I was being sarcastic. I really don't think the release of Clubhouse games has anything to do with Nintendo's announcement strategy.
If an even decently-big game (MPT, Mario Collection) is coming in August-October, announcing them anytime makes sense. Remember, we basically have ZERO announced Switch releases for 2020 past Paper Mario. It's time.

I was just mentioning that there ARE people that need to manage their game budget, and they usually are happy when games are anounces prior to release, so that they can alocate the budget. =) For most people, it wont make a difference, shure.
