With GTA V being at most 4 years away, we can kinda see how the landscape will look when it comes out. Some things to consider:

- GTA V launched on PS3 / 360, and it took a year to reach next gen (2 for PC).
- Red Dead Redemption 2 took only a year to reach PC
- Rockstar now has their own launcher on PC

Personally, seeing how the late port strategy on RDR2 didn't seem to work as well as it did for GTA V, I'm expecting VI to launch on PS5, Series X and PC on day one. If the game is coming out either this or next year, I guess a PS4 / One version of the game could happen seeing how they probably aren't going to release it exclusively on the smaller userbase that PS5 / Series will have for their first year. What do you think?

PS5/SeX day 1
PC the next year, or maybe 2 years later

Because it's GTA. And as big as Red Dead is, GTA is still at an entirely different level above everything else.

It will probably be released at the end of next gen on PS5/Xbox/PC (GTA Online makes tons of money on PC)

Next gen consoles first, then PC later. Same as usual.

It's absolutely not coming to current gen.

As a console gamer i hope its on PS5, XBSX, PC.

GTA 5 was made for PS3, xbox360 in mind, i cant wait to see what they can do with at least 10x more cpu, gpu, memory and SSD 8+ years after GTA 5. I really hope its only for next gen so no ps4, x1 holding it back

I still don't get why they release on PC so much later. How much money can they make from double dippers?

Probably PS5, XboxX, and PC. RDR2 PC's engine is sort of a preview of what the GTA 6 will be. More demanding on CPU, more IQ and lighting.

I mean they could do PS4 and XBone but it would be a lot of optimization and asset reduction. Maybe double dipping would pay for it.

GTAV was essentially a PS4/Xbox One game. It was the best selling game on both platforms. It just had one of its strongest months ever in December 2019 thanks to the Casino Update.

I don't think Rockstar is sweating "missing a generation" at all, because they really haven't. The PS4/Xbox One ship has sailed for the next GTA.

PS5/Xbox X and skip current gen consoles, as I don't expect it be out within the next year or so.

No current gen, no switch.
Everything else, including stadia which very few in this thread remembered exists.

Too good to be true = They've been using High-end PC's in all these years to develop a XSX,PS5, PC title.

Possible = They've been aiming for a current-gen release all along but are struggling with the hardware so it becomes next-gen exclusive

most likely scenario = Cross-gen , if it doesn't release in late 23 or 24

Probably next gen console only (at first) a few years into the generation most likely.

Need a decent user base to milk dry with micro transactions.

It feels a little too late in the generation to release it this console gen...and then do an enhanced version for next gen and I don't see Rockstar doing traditional cross-gen releases (ala Ubisoft)

If Rockstar haven't announced it yet, its NOT going to be be on PS4/Xbox one. I think its next gen only... and it better be SSD only for PC. Hope PC doesn't hold it back otherwise. SSD Exclusive has to be the new thing in PC gaming going foward.

If it worked twice before you can bet your ass Rockstar will take their sweet time teasing people about a possible late PC version

They don't need a "decent" user base, they need a massive one. GTA is the biggest gaming institution this side of Fortnite/Minecraft, and they need to be able to leverage the largest possible install base in order to realize the potential profits.

That said, PS4/XB1 are probably not an option. The again, waiting until 2025 just to wait seems like a bad idea too.

Speculatively, I think they might look at the MCU and release GTA VI as a serialized game. Take the Michael/Trevor/Franklin setup, but turn them into three games released in successive years. And maybe you make it near-future, with each successive game being a jump five years forward, so you're taking the entire city but adding a twist to existing structures plus adding new parts. And of course with every sequel everyone is paying another $60, and you're coming out with a whole new set of DLC content to buy.

Hopefully they're not dumb and only release on Xbox/PlayStation. Put it on PC day and date, and stop playing the double dip bullshit. I've got a feeling it didn't work as well with Red Dead 2.

Also, is Stadia out of the picture already? I mean, it could appear on that if it's still around by then.

I think they gave up on the idea of DLC when they discovered a way to print money with GTA Online.

It's been nearly 6 and a half years and no single player DLC has come out for V. Which sucks, ss much as I disliked GTA V, I would have been bang up for some top notch EFLC style expansion.
