Over the years games have had more and more usage of voice clips. A handful have become iconic over time.

Space Spartans more-or-less launched voice synth to the masses, while Mario 64 was THE game to play when the N64 hit the market.

What would you rate as the most iconic/important line from a video game?

Keeping with intellivision. B-17 Baumer!

For actual importance I'm going Hadouken. I feel most people know that line from playing it or being exposed to it in some shape or form. No evidence but I feel it helped shape video games becoming a main stream form of entertainment.

That's not even what I think of when I read "Hello Commander."

I don't even know what Space Spartans is. Get Over Here as said above is pretty iconic though.

I want to be able to use this in my daily life:

"The President of the United-fucking-States-of-America. Who would you think I was talking about? Who the fuck, who is, what... I should kick your fucking ass, who is this???"

I'm not sure any of these really qualify but of them hadouken and fatality are pretty up there
edit: yeah get over here is a huge one. same with finish him. MK in general had some baller shit back then

I'm going to base my judgement on how many discrete instances of the voice clip have been heard since the game's release, so it's Hadouken by a factor of 40 billion.

I'd like to give an honorable mention to this:

edit: Woah, starts to sound like "Go, sister!" if you listen to it long enough.

I voted "Hadoken" But "it's-a-me! Mario!" is definitely the right choice.

Halo's "Killing Spree!" is another one.

What is with these choices? "It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you." ... Really?

Parodius "wow" sample.

Gets used all over YouTube and some mostly Asian TV shows whenever something ...sexy happens.

I daresay that's almost on par with "hey, listen!" and the various Mario samples with regards to recognisability.

"Sir, permission to leave the station?"

"For what purpose Master Chief?"

"To give the Covenant back their bomb"

Unforgettable for me.

But for something a bit more universal:
"You must construct additional Pylons"

People need to educate themselves on space Spartans. Great game.

"Star base 2 under attack."
"battle computer 2/3rds down, under repair."
"The battle is over"

Hadouken. People heard Hadouken more and for longer than "Its a Me Mario" since SFII was out many years before N64

Super Mario 64 was my personal most HYPE gaming moment of all time. I was completely and utterly blown away by that game and everything it accomplished back then.

Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?

I'd say "Finish Him" is more iconic that "Fatality" but that's just me.

I'm always up to talk about Inty. Loved that thing.

Berserk arcade game was awesome. "Coin detected in pocket!"

But I remember ever further back. Gorgar, the first taking pinball machine.
