Yeah, they wore face shields and are very careful to make me wait in my car until the last minute.

Call your dentist office and ask how they handle it. I had an appointment cancelled due to lockdowns, and then cancelled my own when places started opening since I wanted to wait a few weeks to see if whatever solution they had was working well enough.

I went about a month ago and the office I go to requires you to stay outside until you have filled out a health sheet and they've taken your temperature. Masks required as long as you're not in the chair getting work done, and then rinse your mouth out. When getting worked on, the hygienist and dentist were wearing masks and face shields.

Been holding off for a while now, buuuut I just chipped my tooth last week, and it has been an endless cycle of annoyance.

Want to go get it filled, but am scared cause of Rona.

Have any of y'all gone in recent months? Is it still a bad idea to go?
OP, go. I had a filling fall out months ago. I didn't go to the dentist until a couple weeks ago, and it turns out I had a cavity got nearly bad enough for a root canal. If I had waited a few more weeks, it would have definitely been a goner.

Rona is scary, but you can't let Fear of Covid stop you from addressing your other health problems.

Someone I know had really massive issues back in March / April and they had to do some crazy stuff to get help back then, everything was closed so you can imagine.

I had some major molar pain from a cavity, so I finally pulled the trigger on a root canal a couple weeks ago. The process seemed pretty safe. I only had my mask off during the procedure, everyone else had both masks and face shields and everything was being used fresh out of air sealed bags. Not risk-free, I'm sure, but they were doing their best. In the circumstances, where I was staring down a possible abscess without this root canal, I felt like it was the right thing. I wasn't going to wait another year+ to get this handled.

Ugh it's been 2 years since my last cleaning. I was set for a cleaning and wisdom tooth extraction in December 2018, both of which were canceled on me last minute due to their staffing issues, and my insurance ended the week after and then I moved to a different state.

I had a cleaning setup at a new dentist right as COVID was springing up and canceled. My wisdom tooth is definitely growing in little by little each month, and I know I'm going to have to schedule a consultation sans dental insurance to get it out probably before a vaccine is ready. Ugh.

Yeah, went back in July, totally fine. Everyone had a mask and gloves on. The woman that cleaned my teeth had a full face shield on and so did my normal dentist that did the final check up. There was only 4 people in the office and I was asked all the standard covid questions before they'd see me.

Got my teeth cleaned back in July. It was fine. Was required to wear a mask at all times until I was in the dentists chair and the hygienists all wore plastic face shields.

I called my dentist's office and every time I did, I got a message saying it was supposedly closed. Then I went in person last week to confirm for myself. A patient whose daughter works in the clinic said it was open the whole time. But now people have to ring a buzzer prior to coming in. So now I have a follow-up appointment with my long time dentist in a few weeks. The last time I saw him was in January.

My teeth are quite yellow and have some hardened plaque buildup so I'm overdue for a checkup/cleaning. They're doing temperature checks before coming in, require face masks to be on, and have chairs in the waiting room socially distanced so it should be fine.

Yeah, I got a temporary crown just last Tuesday and while none of the desk staff were wearing masks, they had shields in place and limited appointments/people in the office. All the people doing the work wore masks and face shields so it felt pretty safe. I also chipped my tooth so I can relate. It was worth it to keep the situation from worsening,

Edit: I was also given eye coverings, so that's something you could ask for too.

Several times, as I had monthly braces tightenings.

They were extremely professional and lots of measures were in place.

I need some work done too but I'm scared off from dealing with it right now. Cracked tooth or something. I gotta see a specialist. I also was supposed to have Lasik in April. I don't know when now.

I went for a cleaning a couple months ago. (I have build-up that can quickly cause gum issues if I don't stay on top of it.) All staff wearing masks, receptionist behind plexi, shields for hygienists while working on you, masks required for all patients until in the chair, max 2 patients in the waiting room at a time, limited appointments, temperature/fever screening. Seemed reasonable.

I did not, which I'm regretting now. Not that I have any dental issues at the moment. It's just that I'm going to go a long time without a cleaning.

I've been twice. Everyone with masks (dentist and hygienists had masks and face shields). Took temperature when I arrived, spaced appointments out to reduce foot traffic in the lobby. Felt totally safe the whole time.

Yes, just last Thursday for cleaning. My dentist and her assistant are in full PPE gear: faceshields, N 95 masks, and isolation gowns. They took my temperature when I came in and had to fill out a COVID screening form. They took every precautions and I felt very comfortable the entire time.

We're fairly low case count so I've gone. In general they're more afraid of gettig it from you.

My mom, grandma, and I have gone on separate occasions for various reasons and we're all fine. The techs were all basically dressed to enter a biohazard zone with masks, goggles, face shields, double gloves etc.. They even gave me a new mask when I dropped mine.

Yes, for my check up. I have also taken my kids for their check ups ad also to their orthodontist appointments for their braces. Each place has been pretty amazing at how they are handling covid. I have no concerns going to either place.

This is exactly how my dentist office handled things when I went recently for a night guard. I wasn't too sure before I went, but I felt better after seeing they were handling things with a decent amount of care.

Twice last week, first for a regular checkup that I requested due to a, turns out, minor accident. Then a cleanup a couple of days later. Both times they wore masks like any sane doctor or medical practitioner would do.

I had a cleaning scheduled for March. It was rescheduled for June. When I went, it was about as safe as they could make it - wait in car until your turn, take temp, only take off mask for the cleaning, hygienist remained masked at all times, etc.

My original appointment was right when everything shutdown so I missed that and when I re-scheduled in like July I was pushed out to the end of September.

I was supposed to have my check-up in July, but it's been delayed indefinitely. Thankfully I haven't had any issues with my teeth recently.

I put it off, but eventually went. It was fine. They took every possible precaution. Probably safer than most places people are going.

Nope. I don't trust the young party hearty hygienists at my normal dentists. I floss and brush my teeth much better nowadays though.

Yep for my cleaning a couple months ago. It's not like a dentist office(at least mine) has a packed waiting room to begin with. You'll be fine

I just went today. Masks enforced, took my temp, kept apart from the other 3 patients, assistant and dentist wore gloves, mask and face shield. I had to use their mouth wash and wash my hands before they started. Normal cleaning from there, had to wash hands again after. Felt pretty safe with it.

I went 2 weeks ago for a cleaning. Wasn't bad.

They had me wait in my car, then someone came out and asked a few questions (been feeling sick, been traveling, etc.) Then they took me inside and took my temperature.

Only difference during the cleaning was that they made me swish some mouthwash for a minute before we started,, and they wore face shields in addition to masks.
