I like that. You can even make it only allowable when an OP enables it in a thread. That would be interesting. Maybe limit votes to a specific "best answer" seeking type of thread so we don't risk becoming Reddit, and I could get down with that.

It's the other way around actually. It's annoying when someone complains about a known issue that has happened to them and someone comes in to simply say "I've had x number of controllers and no issues", how does that help the person with the issue? Whereas in this case OP is telling us they haven't been using a feature because they're afraid of something that could happen, so people are naturally offering their own experiences to alleviate OP's concerns and encourage them to use a feature they are afraid to use.I can understand "Never happened to me" when someone is complaining about an issue (not that I think it's the right thing to say). It's completely irrelevant when someone is asking if a known issue has been fixed.
I don't if it matter but my external drive is a Seagate as wel.
I never had any of the rest mode crashes but the external HDD crashes were fixed for me a couple of firmwares ago, so wouldn't surprise me if at least some instances of the rest mode stuff was fixed too.
I've had hard crashes playing MM, but I've had an external HDD and used rest mode since day one with no issues.
What USB power settings do you all use? Is it set so the External HD is powered on all the time, or does it turn off after three hours?
What do you want people to say in this thread? The vast majority of PS5 owners didn't get any issue.
Would you like me to lie instead and say that I had issues? I will not ignore the fact that people had problems, but let's not act like people who didn't have them are a defense force. Your comment is silly.
Yeah that's my issue. I was having issues at launch playing Miles with an external connected. Took the external away, never had an issue since. I know miles was apparently the source of a lot of the problems, but I'm still scared to try again haha.I've used rest mode all the time without issue but I haven't had the guts to use an external
I haven't seen any evidence that it's "fixed." Either you were lucky and never had the issue, or you were unlucky and it's still ongoing.Good to know this has been fixed. Does anyone know if the external drive disconnecting itself issue has been fixed?
This is what happens every time, mass defence. Expect this thread to have 10+ pages of "Not me"
Yup. This is me. Lol.I've used rest mode all the time without issue but I haven't had the guts to use an external
It happened to me a few times the first week, and then I pulled the external and have been using the system without it since. I have an external SSD with almost all of my PS4 games on it, but I'm nervous to plug it back in. It would crash, then would power off, turn on to a black screen, shut it off, turn it on again into a system rebuild both times. Scary stuff. I'd like to use it again, but I want to hear from some people that it was also happening to that now it's not.I haven't seen any evidence that it's "fixed." Either you were lucky and never had the issue, or you were unlucky and it's still ongoing.
I don't have much more to add right now but i do like what you said.I like that. You can even make it only allowable when an OP enables it in a thread.
Been using rest mode since day one, never had an issue. You should try it yourself before taking rumours to heart.
I understand the hesitancy given the number of instances reported on Era, but I always find this response weird.
If I buy a new console and I hear a feature has a problem in an estimated 0.1% of units, I'm definitely using that feature to test I don't have that issue.
Because if the issue is in any way due to small hardware differences/issues I'm stuck with it, but if I find the issue I can get a refund or warranty return.
Still have problems with it as recently as today, instead of going into rest mode it completely shut down and couldn't be woke with the controller. Upon boot it restored and I got the screen that says the power was pulled before it was shutdown
