Seems like a tease to me, but not a sign of a 2019 release. As soon as Sony announced that they're skipping E3 next year, I figured something PS5-related was coming. This seems just like a fun little affirmation of that.
Switch ports, PS5 dev kits, etc. Yeah some big stuff, but not PS5 release.
The sensible thing would be to have the 'S' in Happy Holidays be a '5' too then, no?They've been doing a lot of promotions lately on celebrating five years of PS4, it was all over their "My PS4 Life" site which was out last week as well. I'm sure that's all its referring to.

this is most likely for 5th year for PS4,
however,
Famitsu published an article for new years where developers talk about the coming year, you can see most of it in the next gen thread when developers have been teasing a 2019 reveal.
Now a new piece of that article came out.
considering others mentioned reveal in 2019, and this mentions big change in 2020, the thing i take from this is 2019 reveal and 2020 release,
PLAY5TATION in noughties Spider-Man font.whatever the fuck it is, I hope they don't call it "PLAY5TATION" It's fucking dumb.
Like someone in the PS First Party thread said, it's probably just referencing PS4's 5 year anniversary.
Could be. Not a certainty though. But why would you hide a flash of "PLAY5TATION" in a theme instead of just saying "PLAY5TATION 4" or something of that nature? It's definitey a tease.
I wish I felt like that, been wanting new ones since 2016.I hope it's nothing. We seriously don't need new consoles yet.
could it be that, you know, they fucked up and thought the 5 was an S?
Get on them, Sony.
This is my takeaway as well. It's very deliberately a PS5 tease (much more likely to do with it being revealed next year than releasing next year).
The free holiday theme available for PS Players may contain a tease for PS5 or "Play5tation" going by the image below:

The word "PLA5TATION" is front and centre.
A subtle tease or team2019 grasping?
If PS5 is Q4 2019, where are the dev kits? While first party may have them, we have a pretty good insider base here and on Kotaku that say no third party has kits yet. Turning over PS5 games within the same year for Q4 launch seems a bit rushed, no? Unless they are going to launch soley first party and super rushed PS5 games.
