I was browsing through game.co.uk and came across an edition of Destroy all Humans for £349! I mean, the statue looks pretty dope but not £349 kinda dope. Do they hold their value?

Destroy All Humans! Crypto-137 Edition

Take one giant step on mankind in style! Put other subduers of primitive civilizations to shame with the DNA Collector's Edition of the cult classic alien invasion game

i think the most I've paid is £90ish for the edition of MGSV that came with the arm.

I've never shelled out for a collectors edition, but there are a couple games coming up where I could see myself doing so if the collectibles would look good on my desk lol

Most I've ever paid for a collector's edition is $90, I think (P5R Phantom Thieves Edition). $100 if you count digital versions of "collector's editions" (basically just game + season pass). Not the most amount of money I've spent on a video game, though. That would be FFXIV but that's over a long span of time

I wouldn't buyt these because of value. I only bought 2:
Halo helmet edition because i think it looks cool.
Persona 5 royal -> to make joke with my GF about stealing her heart (she likes Persona and this edition has the joker mask so i just had to make a very simple card to make some happy memories with her)

I have a few collector's editions of games, but nothing that goes over around 100-130 USD. Not because I wouldn't want to but just because I don't make the kind of money where I can justify that sort of purchase on any one piece of entertainment or collector's item. Plus I often find the stuff that comes with those editions isn't worth it, and if I was going to spend $300 on a statue/figure I can find much better quality elsewhere.

No the most I ever spend was 110 Euro's for the Xenoblade Chronicles 1 DE collectors edition. And I think the CE for 2 was like 80?

I would never spend 350 that's crazy.

Most I've paid is the Assassin's Creed 2 collector's edition on PS3 which came with a pretty big Ezio statue. I think it cost 90 euros?

I don't even buy physical these days.

The most expensive one I have bought is the MGSV one to get the arm replica. I think it was like $130. I do occasionally buy special editions that are like $10 more than usual to get a special case or something.

I don't think I ever spent more than $100 on a single game, even counting DLCs.

EDIT : Yes, Everquest, if we count the monthly sub. Never again ah ah ah.

Only NieR Automatas because its the sequel to the best game of all time, but apart from that hell no they're never worth their money

Persona 5 royal -> to make joke with my GF about stealing her heart (she likes Persona and this edition has the joker mask so i just had to make a very simple card to make some happy memories with her)

Congrats on the sex!

Think the most I've ever spent has to be the Last Guardian collector's edition with the Trico statue. Since then I've been done with expensive editions for the most part.

The most I've spent is like $100 on the Danganronpa V3 and Atelier Ryza CEs.

Also I kind of expected this thread to be about those super crazy expensive ones I saw in the other threads that cost up to like a million lol.

There's been maybe 3 or 4 games where I've splashed out for editions with artbooks or maps of the RPGs I really like, usually say an extra £20 or so. Statues/busts I've just got no time for- they are almost always cheaply made and badly painted tat, If I wanted a figurine I'd buy a nice one from companies that specialise in it instead. Music is another one- I love soundtracks but if it's just a couple of tracks on a USB stick I'd rather wait and see if I'd rather get the album later on.

No. Most of them are pointless, only collectors and people who think they can sell for a profit will get these. Otherwise the majority of it is plastic tat.

Most recently the $80 deluxe edition for Final Fantasy VII Remake, like hell I was going to pay $330 for the First Class edition though.

Bought that Halo Reach edition that came with the statue of Noble Squad in a massive box. Still have that statue and box too. They're both great.

Wish I'd gotten the Halo 3 one that came with the Master Chief helmet, but that's what I get for being young and poor at the time 😂

lmao

I'm buying Collector's editions once in forever. Last one was Sekiro for €105. I don't think i ever paid over 300 bucks for CE.
Most of the time these come with fugly statues that make the whole package quite overpriced. Prefer Special editions, they are cheaper and include only steelbook and artbook.

Cyperpunk 2077 - $250 x2

I have quite a few more, but I tend limit to franchises I fully support, fairly priced or offered at a discount.

These three I got with the now defunct Amazon Prime 20% off discount:

Horizon Zero Dawn - $105 (no regrets)
The Last Guardian - $102 (no regrets)
Persona 5 - Take your heart - $77 (worthless, aside from steelbook case, but at $12 extra, can't complain)

Best Buy sale
God of War - $60 (totally worth it)

I also have countless other games purchased at $10-20 extra for steelbook/artbook/etc editions.

I know of an Era member who spend nearly a grand on FFVIIR editions but I'll let them chime in if they want.

Only expensive LE I purchased was the NieR Black Box Edition. Seems to be worth a good amount now too? I had someone on GAF in my inbox trying to get me to sell it to them lmao. Only one that came close in price was the Bayonetta 2 Japanese Special Edition and that wasn't as much.

I will say the most money I've put down for any gaming related thing was for the Wonderful 101 Kickstarter. It felt right and, also, I will be happy to have this:

(it was a lot of money)

Nope. $80-100 is about my limit for LEs that come with art books, soundtracks, steelbooks, etc. Can't do these ones that come with statues or boxes that are as big as a steering wheel/pedal combo... it needs to be able to fit on my shelves with my other games. :)

I bought the Mithril Edition of Shadow of War. It's value has doubled as far as I know.

The PS4 edition is over 500 USD on Amazon now. Excluding shiping of like 100 dollars.

I have quite a number of collectors editions, but I think the highest I've gone in price was the Halo 5 LCE. And I can't even remember how much that was! All I can remember is that it was somewhere between £100-£200.

£100 is usually the point I tap out, but not for Halo.

The most I've spent on CEs was around £70-£80 each for FFXIII, FFXIII-2 and FF Type-0. I've bought some medium tier edition (Special Edition as they're called) ones as well.

Over the years I've fallen out of it and now only go for the vanilla editions of games for the cheapest price possible.

Dedicated Art Books, dedicated OSTs, dedicated figures etc. are better value for money as collector's items and you can space out the purchases over a wider span and have more choice as well.

I typically don't. If I get the "expensive version" it's usually because I picked it up for way cheaper later on.

I think the most I've spent on one was for Fallout 4 and it's Pipboy Edition. That was only 120. I got MGSV "baby hand" edition too, but I don't remember that costing that much either.

I buy "Ultimate Editions" for some Xbox series, like Gears and Forza/horizon, but I like those because they only come with a steelbook and digital stuff. I just don't want any more "statues."

If I get a "limited edition" for a game it's usually the "mid-tier" level of editions. Like I got the Special Edition for Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima for pre-order because they just come with a steelbook, no statues, and don't really cost that much more than the regular game.

I buy $80 CEs pretty regularly. That's the standard Deluxe Edition price I find.
Gotten a few $90 ones, like the Resident Evil 5 CE that came with a crappy Chris figure whose hand was broken off.
Most expensive one I think I've gotten is the $100 Lightning Returns CE.
I've never gotten any of those $150 plus ones though.

I bought MGS4 Day One that came with an Old Snake figure, where that is I have no clue. Also, Bioshock that had a Big Daddy figure, again where it is?, and like some others in here, I too bought the GTAIV Lockbox, Keychain, Bag edition. Still have the lockbox, my Vita is in it right now along with my move controllers I believe.

I got 3 statues. The Faraam Set Soldier From Dark Souls 2(best looking armor in the series imo), the Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls 3 and Aloy from the Horizon Zero Dawn. All 3 Collectors Editions were probably about 150. Was super tempted to get the Dead Space 3 CE for my main man Isaac Clarke but didn't in the end.

The robot hand is disappointing but the fridge magnet is really high end. The magnet was so strong that I couldn't easily get it off my fridge and my girlfriend eventually used a screwdriver to pry it off and I assume threw it out afterward.

$150 well spent.
