I haven't touched my desktop for a very long time, maybe two years now. I've played DQ11 and dead cells on it in that time span. Though I have been getting the itch to build a new Ryzen rig....I just can't justify the cost.

I'm coding all day at work on a computer. For me, I just want to get away from the computer when I'm home. So consoles it is.

Same. It's so relaxin
Haven't touched a PC for gaming in about 6 years and a PC in general for about 4 besides starting a movie (which took for fucking ever). Microsoft knew what was up when they said consoles were their biggest threat. I can watch a movie, TV show or play a game in a minute on console. Sony etc just have to reduce loads n what not to around zero and the bulky PC is done.

Console + Pad = PC death.

This is what makes the console experience for me. Throw in the One X 4K blu-ray player, and I rarely ever use my PC for gaming now. Just a few indie games here or there.

We've all been trained (brainwashed?) over the years to see gaming through the eyes of a console gamer - in front of a TV in a family room of sorts. That's the majority casual gaming experience.

Goes back to the Pong Paddles and Atari consoles of yesteryear, where all this began.

Heck, even the arcade cabinets in bars and diners had a more casual setting that leaned us more toward a family room type of environment, which was based on joysticks and big colored buttons.

Stuff like Keyboards and Mice were more expected in offices back then. School and Work-related situations. The places people wanted to FORGET about when they got home to play games and unwind.

It's all how we were brought up. At least me and my 40-year-old dudebros.

I was raised on consoles and arcade cabinets in the 80s and 90s. I evolved into PC gaming in the 2000s, building a monster tech THING at a desk with all the printers and scanners and speakers and keyboard and mouse and and pull-out keyboard shelves, etc.... Now I'm falling back onto my couch with just a controller and my feet up on an ottoman just scrolling through my One X games.

I use my laptop more for paying bills, shopping and social media more than anything now. I mean, I still kick around World of Warcraft, but if they made a console version of it?.... I'll play that on the console next.

Keep delivering all this non sense in 2019 on a enthusiastic forum with tons of PC gamers that know better, dude. Tons of laughs. ;)

Mid-30s. Kind of have a desk job (at least I spend a lot of time at a desk researching/writing/lesson-planning). I think they both have their places. While I am technically more of a console gamer, I've just about always been both. For things like RE2 remake or Tetris Effect it's nice to sit in the living room and even wear a nice headset to immerse myself, but for stuff like Hearts of Iron IV or Kerbal Space Program (my current addiction) I'd rather sit at my computer desk with a mouse and keyboard. I think it just depends on what you want to play where. I like playing "console style" games on a console, whereas games developed primarily for PC or those that may come to consoles with concessions, I like to sit in my home office with my "beer and pretzels" equivalent and just soak it in. Also I think a lot of people complaining about playing at a desk need nicer desks and/or more comfortable chairs.

The opposite actually. I get tired way more easy sitting on a couch than in my PC chair (even though its comfy). But I inevitably get too relaxed in the couch and start dozing off.

This has recently happened to me, but it's because I'm a weirdo and I tend to watch tv shows or movies on my pc while I play games. Playing a movie on a desktop while watching a movie on the same desktop is annoying because if I want to pause what I'm watching to pay sole attention to the game I have to alt-tab out pause, go back to the game, watch the cutscene I paused the movie to pay attention to, and then alt-tab out, restart the thing I'm watching, and finally get back to the game.

100% dude. Sitting in a desk chair to come home and sit in another desk chair is not ideal. But the annoying thing is, I prefer mouse and keyboard for so many games.
I'm thinking about getting one of those lap board things

Nope, still my primary gaming device and I wish I had more time to play. I basically only get off when Sony or Nintendo release a first party game.

I play my PC and consoles at my desk, it's been like that since I owned an Amiga 500. I never felt very comfortable gaming on a couch. (I play my Vita and Switch when I'm on a trip).

I like jumping seemlessly between my 2d/3d programs, web browsing and playing games.

I am sick to death of maintaining and upgrading components and dealing with thermal paste and shit. So yeah, I'm tired of gaming on my desktop. It's too much work and the quality gap isn't that big for me.

Yup, have had my garish ass PC tower cluttering various living rooms next to a big screen for over five years now xD

Can't go back to desktop gaming, it's just so much more cozy plus greater immersion with the bigger screen.

Honestly, when I'm playing it doesn't really matter to me of its on a desktop or the couch. It's kinda all the same for me.

Yep - sitting at a desk in my office all day, I just wanna lay on a couch and frag (and not with a controller on a PC on a tv)

I've never enjoyed sitting in front of a PC to play games, even as a kid. On top of that, I work freelance as an adult, so my desk is a place where I write, send emails, read the news and essentially work -- it's the last place I want to spend my free time, whether that be playing a game or watching a movie.

If anything I play in more platforms, I now use PC, Switch and PS4. And that hasn't slowed down my play time. Still strong.

Yep, this is me and one of the main reasons I haven't had a gaming PC in ... like 10ish years.

It's one thing for my wife to walk into the living room and I'm playing a game or something on the TV, on the couch, with a controller, it's not a big deal. But, the reaction is different if I'd be sitting at a desk, with my back turned, and headphones on, 16" from a computer screen. USed to be an avid PC gamer from like age 14 to 22, but don't think I will really get into PC gaming ever again.

Yeah, I actually unplugged mine last month and haven't wanted to use it since. I'm 50 hours into Divinity 2 on PS4 and it feels so good to kick back and play that game with a controller. Same with Civ6 on Switch. Only thing that might get me to hook it back up is Halo: Reach on PC.

Not only do I still play desktop at home, I have all my consoles hooked up to my monitors as well. I do zero gaming on a TV.

It depends on the game. I tend to separate playing competitive games and couch gaming. I'll always play any sort of competitive game on PC. Playing on the couch just makes me lazy and I will play terrible. The opposite is true, I prefer single player story games on the couch rather than on a desk.

I work at my desk, I play on my TV, and my PC is connected to both. I love the set up, and I haven't had the desire to play at a desk at any point in my life. Achey.

Solution for me was:
1) mini-itx build
2) attach to TV
3) don't shoehorn myself into games that require MKB

3 is kind of less important, since there are plenty of ways to still do that without a real desk, but I haven't been an MKB player since UT back in college. That's UT"99"...

Yes completely and utterly. Not only that, but I have zero patience for tinkering with anything technical during playtime - I do enough of that sort of problem solving at work. When the kids off to bed, I sit my ass down on the couch, turn on my console and just play.

Wait what ? What kind of problem solving you do to play a game on pc? Since I bought it 2 years ago I have never done 1 problem solving to play a game literally steps I do
1- turn on pc.
2- play the game.
Never encountered one problem to solve for 2 years.

Do you even pc?

To some degree this is true for me, but it's really only about the chair/seating—if I'm sitting in an office chair all day, it's more comfortable to switch up seating style/position for leisure time, and that has become more true as I get older. It has nothing really to do with the PC platform itself, which I still prefer for the most part.

I mostly stick to gaming on my PC in my home office, since we only have one main living room TV setup in the house, and I'd rather not have to compete for time on it if my wife wants to watch TV or something. So I have an armchair in my office and my monitor on an adjustable arm, so I can play that way if I want to play a game with a pad in a more relaxed position.

Only thing I really miss out on is the larger size of my TV, but I just get fairly close to my 27" monitor, and I like that I get high refresh rates and G-Sync vs. my TV. Maybe someday I'll put a big TV in my office as a secondary display.

I don't think it's that hard to understand. When I played more PC games I would, looking back on it, waste more time fidgeting with a game than actually playing it. Consoles take that away, I like that.

Im the opposite.... as I get older, I have more disposable income to buy better PC hardware. I can't play on PS4 Pro or Xbox One X once I got a taste of 120-200fps/Hz goodness

Since I got my desktop on black Friday I've been pretty much glued there. My ability to marathon game feels like it has doubled. Now I also don't feel like I'm monopolizing the living area when I play my games (as had been the case in the past where I would boot up a game & my roommate would go chill in his room).

Yeah, having your own space when playing on a desktop and monitor is a big advantage over having long sessions in a living room that might be shared with others

I would not say that I lost it, but actually due to my Job I spent a lot of hours sitting in the Office. Then coming home sitting there again kills my back. For my consoles and TV I can sit on the Couch oder even stand sometimes.

However, if this would be different I would love to play on a desktop PC. Especially for Shooters it is so much different for me. I played Destiny 2 on the pc and it was so much fun. When I was younger, I was playing tons of hours of WoW, Diablo 2, Battlefield or Star Wars Galaxies on my Pc sitting on a desk and I miss those times, because still mouse and keyboard on a desk feel like the most natural way of gaming. It is just how I spent my youth.

Since moving out of my parents house, the need to sit behind a desk when i get home has vanished. I bought my PC with me, but i don't turn it on much. Most of my gaming is done via the PS4 and Switch, both of which are under the TV in the living room.

48. I love my big TV with a big couch. I also love my PC. I go back and forth on if I focus on console or PC for my gaming time. Sometimes I won't touch the PC for a week as I tear through a game on console, then I'll shift back to PC and vise-versa, depending on game. For shooters, I tend to use PC because of a 144hz monitor. For anything I care about visually, I go to consoles for HDR and higher resolution.

However, if it's a game I'll be playing with friends more often than solo, I typically get it on console rather than PC (e.g. Anthem, Division 2, Destiny 2, etc.) just because I have more regular friends there.

PC gets games I'll typically play solo, like Prey, Far Cry New Dawn, Metro: Exodus, BL2 (for mods), etc.

I'm not sure what older means, but I still prefer to play on my desktop. I'm almost 33. You guys might need better chairs if your desk is not comfortable.

If the game is multiplatform, I will choose PC every single time. Higher resolution, higher framerates, better graphics, ability to use any controller I like. My PS4 Pro is largely reserved for exclusives and PS Plus games.

I do play most games with a controller on PC nowadays. Steam Controller usually, DS4 or Switch Pro Controller if dual analog sticks are a must. First person shooters and strategy games are probably the only game type I still prefer to play with keyboard and mouse. Gyro aim on SC has been a game changer for me.
