Xbox One total looks off. Estimates for the remaining countries are very high.

Even the PS4 total is off. No matter if you count sell in or sell through, it magically sold more units than Sony reported themselves.

The US and Japan numbers are correct since it's based on NPD and Media Create/Famitsu data. The European country numbers are based on GfK data, but some seem to be upweighted / slightly different to what GfK reports.

I'd ignore the rotw estimates and global totals.

Australia and Latin America are also strong xbox markets. Latin America is probably higher than UK, and Australia between UK and Canada. We can estimate 43-44m with this countries.

Australia and New Zealand are less than Canada. LATAM is under UK.

a research made one year ago estimated that the Xbox One has sold 3-4 millions in Mexico only, so yeah, Latin America is higher than UK

Those PS4 vs Xbox numbers are a sight to behold. And shows truly how far MS are behind in momentum and mindshare going in to next gen in RotW.

In that case I don't know.
What about Regis comment?

In any case, CESA themselves say that Microsoft numbers are 89% reliable (11% of margin of error)

But CESA is clearly estimating ROTW. Same with PS Vita. The fact they made such a basic error with PS4 should back that up.
LATAM total for XB1 is not even 4m, so Mexico would not be that high.

As above. The only trustworthy numbers are USA and Japan as they quote NPD and Media Create/Famitsu numbers. The Europe data is accurate enough, as it's based on GfK, but some of the data is upweighted/slghtly off from what GfK report.

Back in 2017 Microsoft had 60% of the console market here in Mexico, 21% being the Xbox One (Total estimated was 16 million consoles rolling in the country, so 21% of those 16 million...)

This is the most reliable info with actual numbers.
I mean, Xbox is known for dominating the console market, a lot of media outlets have said that, but not with numbers, maybe at the beginning of the gen but i can't remember.

Switch software sales are much more inline with the PS4 than the 3DS as expected

This is based on survey data rather than actual shipment data.

The total quoted for Mexico in the survey is higher than the total for the entire LATAM region.

That a survey is published doesn't mean it's reliable.

Yeah, the figures for rotw are quite weird. Some are in the right ballpark, others are either too high or too low. Seems like rough estimates.

It's crazy just how PS4 centric the European countries are. It looks like PS4 will outsell switch even in 2019 for a lot of those countries
All thanks to Don Mattrick. Thanks for giving us an underpowered, overpriced ugly console that let me watch american television (since the UI runs at 60Hz but European DTV is 50Hz and is plugged on a coaxial cable) and let me manage "my" american footbal fantasy team.

Btw, I bought an Xbox One S at launch.

Well yes but the misfortune of the xb1 is far from the only reason for sony's European dominance.

Interesting stuff, shows the momentum of PS4 really.

I hope they're more close next-gen.

well the ONLY console to have put the dominance in discussion has been the Xbox 360. It was the only time when I could see the same amount of shelves space, the same amount of used games, etc... It was MS's fault to not have capitalized on that. And Sony made no mistake from 2011 to 2015.

Pretty interesting that in majority of these tracked markets PS4 peaked in 2015 or even 2014 and yet global shipments have been higher every year after 2015 (well last year matched 2015 in shipments).

Congrats to ps4. Feels great to see the console that focused on games at launch was a success.

Mm.. I think you're forgetting another company. Wii and ds were phenomenons and absolutely outdid PlayStation in their prime.

I think 2019 NSW might have taken the highest spot this gen for France.

UK 2019 - #1 is PS4 which is flat from 2018 and NSW up >20% from 2018, so that would suggest ~1.16 for PS4 and ~1.13M for NSW in 2019.

UK 2020:

And crucial:

So in aggregate, NSW/PS4/XBO are up 57% YoY so far in UK. Obviously that has to hold for the whole year in order to extrapolate, but still I think there is a good chance that both PS4 and NSW top the current gen record of 1.26M by PS4 in 2014. I cannot find any explicit source for March/April YTD comments but I believe through Feb, NSW was the leading console, so it looks on pace for some incredibly high number.

The way 2020 is going so far, looks like a few Europe markets will see their current gen record (and maybe aggregate Europe as well). For reference, Wii did 8.4M in 2008 which is the highest I could find for any console. DS in 2008 did 11.2M. In 2009 they did ~6M and ~9M respectively.

Interesting, but I do feel some numbers don't fit quite well. Example, I know Sony wanted to continue support for PSVita because it was selling so well in that country. But this chart is telling a different story?

I dont think the PS4/Xbox One in the end will reach these heights as the holidays will have full focus on their next efforts. So unless they build up a substantial lead I think the twins will fall short. Switch might still do it though.

Is this article for France 2019 accurate? NSW 2019 1.25M, so that's the best for the gen.

Is there any breakdown/source/estimate for Gen 7 hardware in Europe by region/nation? Wii did 8.4M in calendar 2008 across tracked European markets - if we have a sense of the splits, we can see if NSW 2020 is approaching that level.

Given global shipments of NDS peaked in FY08 (FY 03/09) with JP not at peak and US not at peak, that must be the best year for any device in Europe and ahead of NDS 2009 at 11.2M.
