the first time I played SMB I had one of those tvs with wood round it and a dial instead of channel buttons

35 years is a long time, especially in the video game industry. Technically he's 39 since he debuted in Donkey Kong!

I always imagine mario as a 40 year old, probably because of the mustache. Tho i think he's actually on his 20's in the games.

I wish the first TV I played it on had a dial. Had busted channels and a missing remote that would just auto skip 3 when scanning though them so had to just keep flipping back and forth hoping it would pick it up. No toggle on the RF for making 4 be the set channel that I remember, but also could have been too young and dumb at the time to know.

Midgar, With Love
Shigeru Miyamoto, at least way back in 2005, claimed that Mario is about 24-25 years old. Since that was 15 years ago, and I've decided for the purposes of this post that time is going to work in a very particular, very slanted way, that makes this Mario's 39th or 40th birthday.
