While it hasn't been confirmed, Gears 4 seems like a good candidate for the framerate doubling enhancement that Microsoft have talked about. I expect it will run at 60fps in Series S and X but we'll have to keep our fingers crossed until MS provides a list.

As for MCC, cross platform play is the biggest missing feature. Then it's time to restore the og Xbox Halo 1 graphical effects and maybe the project comes close to being done. Just bug fixing and ongoing seasons, unless there's something I'm forgetting

Very excited to see this in action on the new TV. It's great to see how MS has continued to put so much effort into this after the terrible launch.

I was already waiting for XSX to replay Halo in anticipation of Reach (played Halo 1, Reach is up next), because even though I have a very powerful computer and an OLED to hook it up to, I just didn't think Halo "felt" right on PC at all - it just wasn't smooth.

Now I can play at the full 120hz the TV offers? Totally worth it. There was a brief period of time I doubted my XSX purchase to go with a PS5 after also upgrading to a 2080TI, but the more news that comes out the more I realize I will use the XSX quite a bit in conjunction with everything else.

Halo 3 and ODST feel orgasmic at 1440p, 144 FPS on PC so having that experience on console is going to be nuts. I'm over the moon about this. I just really hope that they're able to smooth out CE and Reach.

This gives me extra incentive to do a pre Halo Infinite playthrough, although it would help to know when to expect it.

Either way. The work on MCC has been really good. A couple issues still left, but they said they will tackle those after Halo 4, including adressing most requested features like mod support, PC splitscreen and etc. Gonna be interesting to see what they'll be able to deliver.

Possibly. Crossplay is going to be part of the Halo 4 Flight, which could start this week, if we are lucky.

The plan is also to send every single Halo Insider an invite, to get as much as possible data for crossplay.
Wait hold up. Crossplay is confirmed for the halo 4 flight?

120FPS on multiplayer?

OOOOOOH BABY

Shit, I may need to consider a Series X sooner than I originally thought

Bit of a shame it's missing launch day and the subsequent launch day press coverage, but classic Halo at 120Hz sounds like a fine way to spend a November weekend

I really need to go back and play through the series again, last time was around the release of Halo 3. Have never played Reach or 5 but have done all of the others. This seems like a really good opportunity to do it, especially with a gap to Infinite releasing.

So, while I always love to see games receive updates like this, I can't help but but think that 120 FPS is largely going to be a pointless addition for most people.

The overwhelming majority of people playing on consoles are playing on TVs, not PC monitors - and those TVs right now (like >99%) are 60 Hz panels. Only the most expensive TV panels from the last couple years ($2,000+ TVs starting in 2018) have 120 Hz panels, and if you have a Series X, you're also going to need a TV with HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120 FPS.

This may change in 5-7 years when HDTVs with 120 Hz, VRR, and HDMI 2.1 become more ubiquitous, but right now, the 120 FPS upgrade doesn't seem like it would provide much benefit to most players.

The adjustable FOV though is awesome.

I get what you're saying, but reduced input latency is still a benefit of 120fps even without a 120Hz screen.

It's always good to futureproof, and makes sense with MS's strategy of supporting their back catalog. Not to mention that the latest TCL 6 Series should be able to output 1440p120 with VRR, and is relatively affordable for that spec. Not HDMI 2.1, but it seems like a good start. Hopefully 120hz on large screens becomes more and more accessible.

This is straight up not true. The 1070 even handles Reach well in excess of 60fps (usually 90 - 120fps) at 4K. And the Series X is far more powerful than that.

Can confirm. I've been playing the Master Chief Collection on a Radeon RX 5600XT and get a solid 60fps in 4K (Downsampled to 1080p) on a which is supposedly a bit less powerful than the Series X, should Logical Increments be correct.

Awesome news.

Hope they can get the file size down though, otherwise that's a sizeable chunk of my Series S storage space gone.

Keep in mind that when the Xbox 360 launched in 2005 most customers were still on tube SDTVs.

Interesting date, huh? Remember when Assassin's Creed was November 17th?
And... you know... that game.
