So... are we getting enemy collisions back?

I can live with teammates collisions off, even if I'm not a fan of it. But no collisions with enemies is just frustrating lol, I don't see any real reason for it to not be in the game. What could be the reason? (if it was an intended change, and not a side effect of something else)

Yeah armor cores need to go.

Getting rid of armor cores immediately opens the door to more customization options and probably makes people less frustrated with the current progression system.

Also let us make at least one custom color scheme

Exactly. Just have one frame and let players save (and name) frames that can be displayed in the armory.

I feel like I am going to be done with this game soon. There are so many small things that I dislike about it.
  • I hate crosshairs on MOST of the guns, including both "main" guns.
  • I hate how there are almost no footsteps, especially because it's a game where melee is so strong.
  • I hate how there are barely any hit markers, and no damagd indicators whatsoever (either enemy health bar or damage numbers). I am having a hard time understanding when I am hitting my shots and how hard I am hitting. Learning enemy health breakpoints feels almost impossible.
  • I hate how apparently you can only headshot enemies without shields. Makes 1v2 situations unwinnable in 99% of cases.
  • I hate how it also takes forever to recover your health/shields. Which is making 1v2 fights (which are already near impossible to win) even harder.
  • I hate how there is no kill cam, so I can't even tell how well/bad I am moving.
  • I hate how the game is spawning me in a location where I am basically surrounded by 3 enemies.
  • I hate grenade spam.
  • I hate the stupid bug (?) when my HUD gets almost completely disabled after I (accidentally) open Steam overlay.
And this is probably not all my problems with the game, only what I can remember.

I also don't really understand how I should be plying the game. When I am playing passive, my teammates seem to be more aggressive. When I am trying to be more aggressive, no one seems to push the objective with me.

My last few game sessions were really frustrating.
You shouldn't ever win a 1v2 gunfight, unless you have a power weapon.

This isn't true, it's one of the things that truly makes Halo different.

Launch Site slayer against a team, notice one of our guys is 0-8, I just sit the controller down and browsed my phone until it ended. What a fucking awful map.
Head on, 1v2, I can't think of a time where I could kill both. Now, 1v2 where I can get the drop on them, for sure.

From 'quake area to big OH.
Stella is getting harassed over her positive Halo Infinite multiplayer review which is disgusting.

I see she called out a big streamer that got banned. His response was he raised a bunch of money but used a "gamer word" - which was F. I hate that he justifies it because the money, and also it's some gamer thing and therfore is okay.

Where can I find some sort of guide to aim better using mouse/keyboard?
I feel like it's impossible to use sniper rifle and get a headshot, even if the target is standing still :(

Another game against a team of PC players, lol. You straight up cannot challenge a mouse user that is good as an above average controller user. It's pretty funny how easily they can bully you from across the map.

Man, QP is awful for me tonight, really souring my experience. Non stop teams and PC players as a solo controller player, great job 343.

Finally got that last Killing Spree and have Willow Tea! Looks awesome with the Sigil visor from last week (that they gave away for free BTW).

Sucks there aren't anymore weekly challenges that you can repeat if you want but I guess I'll just make do with popping a double exp for 100 every match and helping a friend with his.

Honestly it just sounds like you don't like Halo. Which is fine! But most of what you brought up aren't even flaws. It's just game design choices (which MANY people jive with, and others don't). And most everything you brought up isn't new to Halo Infinite but moreso representative of the Halo franchise as a whole.

I don't really care about cosmetics much so I haven't dropped the small bit of cash on the Battle Pass. Honestly, I kind of doubt that I will.

For me, I'm going to keep having fun with this so long as more maps and modes get added over time. Speaking as somebody whose only online shooter experience is MGS3/MGS4 back in the day + EA Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, is it safe to assume that stuff is coming? It... probably is, yes? And if so, do we have any inkling as to how frequently it'll arrive?

I'm loving the Big Team Battle fare far more than the standard team sizes. And I'm not tired of these maps yet. I just reckon that'll change eventually.

Oh, and do these games ever let you play as Covenant? Or is it always this, sorta, "Spartans training for war" vibe?

EDIT: And how the heck do I get the Ghost to fly high into the air I am so bad at that

Expect new maps at the start of each season! Season 2 launches in May since 1 got extended.

Modes should rotate in and out more frequently though. I agree with you RE: BTB maps, would love to get some more sooner rather than later

We've had playable Elites in other Halo MPs, which I think would be a good deal of fun to add in here sometime down the line. Here's hoping...

Would have loved to be in the meeting where the ultimate challenge was decided.

"Ok we are going to make a fun mode where you get random weapons…everyone will be pretty chill about it as you might get good stuff or not, it's all luck but will be fun for people to jump in after playing other game types".

Great idea.

"Now let's make it so you have to repeatedly get killing streaks on that mode despite having little control over your starting weapons and get rid of that 'fun' thing so basically you have to grind that one mode over and over until it (eventually?) happens. Some people just won't be good enough or have the time but fuck it…"

I know there has been a bit of 'cut 343 some slack' discussion but shit like this makes me not want to play, it's obviously shit.

Well it is the weekly ultimate challenge, it should be kinda tough. And unlike some of the other challenges this one shouldn't alter how you play all that much since the goal of Slayer is always to kill enemies without being killed. And if people do have to alter their play style to complete this challenge, it's most likely making them better/smarter players and teaching them to not blindly run into the center of a firefight with a plasma pistol.

In Fiesta it's a lot easier to go on killing sprees with all of the equipment and power weapons. Rockets, sword, gravity hammer, skewer, sniper rifle, a lot of one-hit kill weapons. Even if you spawn with bad weapons the power weapons are almost always on the map from dead enemies. Plus on some maps you've got the possibility of tanks and ghosts etc.

I'm not saying the challenges are perfect, but I don't consider this a terrible one.

I'd suggest playing against bots more until you get a feel for the health system.

You can tell how "weak" and enemy is by how bright their shield is. It's brightest just before they pop.

There are hit indicators when you land shots. Also the shield glow at the point of impact.
Grenade hit markers are in unranked modes, but are controversial because they encourage random spam by rewarding the thrower with knowledge of enemy locations.

Kill cam is just bad for Halo. It was introduced in Halo 4 and people hated it. You can watch the film after your match if you want to evaluate your movements.

Your issues with 1v2 has been common and controversial since Halo 2 ditched the magnum that could kill with 3 shots. Your key to winning 1v2s now is to place grenades well and use power weapons. In Infinite's social modes, the power and ease of the AR isn't really conducive 1 person being able to take out 2 with gunplay alone, because you'll be unshielded by the time you take out the first guy, and the second guy has full shields and an AR that will finished you with little effort.

in ranked, a good strafe can help 1 player out shoot 2, but the long TTK of the BR still makes it unlikely to do it with bullet alone.

I have had multiple killing sprees before that challenge popped up, now I am two days without one. I think today I got the rocket launcher once in fiesta.

Challenges are some real fun when you're waiting on a gametype to show up and bonus points when you have to win a series of matches in that gametype.

I feel very strongly you're right which is why I busted my butt on Photoshop to make a proof of concept lol. They could cap medal XP if they needed to prevent farming or whatever but man wouldn't this be great?

yeah, it's such a painfully obvious solution that it's hard to believe it isn't THE solution.

not only that, but they already have a great selection of medals that would encourage people to more deeply engage with the objective modes and gameplay systems.

they've got oddball carrier medals, medal for marking enemies, medals for saving allies from attackers- Things that people ignore now because they challenges encourage selfishness.

and there are a bunch of kill 5 enemies with X medals. It would make so much more sense to use these to payout XP whenever these should happen to occur naturally, rather than having a limited selection of challenges that instruct players to seek a specific situation.

I have been enjoying the game but I am close to shelving it for one reason, hit registration.

Honestly, I can put 6-8 shots into someone with the BR, no shield regen and they simply won't die, then they pop out and essentially instantly kill me.

I have seen videos online showing this and also showing people doing a one hit kill with melee on full shields from the front, only for the video of the match to show them being hit in the back.

Also, getting shot and killed when I am already around a corner by a good distance, it makes no sense.

I feel when I have an advantage as well, I will beam people with 4 shots and get triple kills, overkills etc.

Only for it to just suddenly flip and my shots refuse to kill anything, it has to be a server side issue, my ping to servers is always <20ms with the average being around 12ms so it's not my connection.

I don't mind losing to players who have more skill than me but when I unload two clips of a BR into someone's back and they don't die only to be beamed in a few shots it makes the game just not much fun tbh.

Yeah medal-based XP makes sense, especially now that they've even got a rarity system for them which could naturally tie to progression point payout amounts.

I'm surprised they've never done more with the medal systems in general, and now is the perfect time to expand upon them IMO.

I also think it'd be cool if there were multiple progression tracks/unlock systems.

Like, they could have a system where there are points and unlocks tied to medals. Then they could have a daily + weekly challenges system layer that had challenges that were more generic in flavor. Then another Reach-esque system where they just had long term goals to progress towards that also had their own unique rewards.

There's just so much more they could and can do with player progression and unlocks beyond a (not great) weekly challenge system that influences player play.

I just got the grapple an enemy challenge and it was pretty easy. I didn't kill the person just to make sure and made sure I did it from a ways away to make sure I get the "Hookshot" medal. It gave it to me after the match.

I guess now that I'm reading your post more carefully, was this to grapple jack a vehicle? Like latch on to a vehicle and pull the driver out? Because that would be much more difficult and depend on if the driver of the vehicle bails before you get them out, I bet.

It seems pretty cut and dry (and easy), grapple onto an enemy vehicle which automatically jacks them and should award the challenge. Like, I'd question I'm not doing it right, but it's not like several of these haven't been bugged.

Fiesta should at least have a mirror system where each team always get the same set of weapons the enemy has. I had two games where I didn't get energy sword and the enemy team got lots of it.
Energy sword + grappling hook is just the game saying: go, have your kill streak

I need to vent because this challenge system remains ridiculous; (I know it's been done a million times)

I'm at 3/5 BR kills. I got 4 kills with the BR. 1 registers, now at 4/5.

I'm at 2/3 Pulse Carbine kills in 20+ games. I suck with it, even when I bring an enemy close to death I'm either killed for or a teammate swoops in and steals it (making me dislike my own teammate, which in a team game? Not a great feeling).

I have a challenge to get, I think, 10 kills with some gun mongoose. I've never even see the thing, so I figure, eh, use a swap save me the trouble.

I get a new challenge, kill 10 Spartans with a pulse carbine.

I'm at 0/1 Mangler kills. I get 2. Still at 0/1.

And what makes all of this frustrating, is I want to get to the event challenges so I can actually make progress on the ones I have left, but I can't until I clear out this bullshit that either A. Is really difficult (for me) to get. or B. I actually get the kills I need and they don't register with no indication as to why.

How is a mostly casual player supposed to deal with this crap? It's one of the worst systems I've come across made even more troublesome by how much it wants to push you to buy shit to make it less awful. I really hope they change it. They finally nailed Halo combat again and they just put all of these walls up in front of it that are really sucking the enjoyment out of the entire thing. That makes me want to not touch it. Which makes me not want to pay for something cool. So if their goal is to alienate potential customers, I guess they've succeeded.

And that says nothing of the awful core system which spreads out cool items between armors. I really love the EVA helmet from old Halo games and look forward to it, but, I have to wear the Mark V armor to use it, which I don't care for. I'd rather use it on the Mark VII which I like a lot more. I've never seen a game have such seeming scorn for their player base.

I don't think Halo is for you. That's okay.

Maybe you should try the Armory for a bit so you can understand when shields break, hit markers, cross hairs, hit marker feed back.

Most of your complaints are just not understanding the game mechanics.

I spent waaay too long in btb matches ignoring everything except trying to kill someone with a fusion coil. Way harder than I thought it would be. Still had fun doing it.

Yes it's insane to me that they put all this work and effort into building up this really cool medal system, with all kinds of unique rewards for player behavior and fancy medal designs, and to just not have the thought to tie it to progression at all? It's SO OBVIOUS. Give the medals XP values! It'll incentivize mode-oriented, team-oriented player behavior which is more fun for everyone.
