Midgar, With Love
My biggest hurdle with getting into Halo is that I just don't like Master Chief. I really need to finish my 1-5 playthrough, though. The series aesthetic overall is pretty nice and the gameplay is full of fun.

I'm up to 3 now. I'll keep at it - Infinite looks similarly fun.

Something interesting is that the footage seemed to be limited to pretty early game if I'm taking the information correctly? I wonder how much more we haven't seen.

Everybody whipping out their Halo cred to prove that they should be the gatekeepers...

The Flights showed this is one of the best playing FPS games ever made.
The fuck does cinematic presentation mean at this point?
Combat sandboxes are TBD.
Story and characters are still TBD.
Yeah, tight gameplay, well crafted sandboxes, great characters can already be checked off, we can see and play that already. Makes so sense, and seems like a nitpick for the sake of nitpicking.

Knowing the MS war chest I expected something of a very high budget, pushing the boundaries in technology, especially with an IP as well known as Halo on a brand new console.

Something akin to tlou2. This looks generic af.

TLOU2 budget didn't have to carry a major MP mode. It's much smaller in scope.

I think the open structure with the gameplay looks fun, but not really my type of thing for fps. I kinda like the traditional structured missions for fps but we'll see.

Looks extremely fun though.

I was encouraged by the indoor portions. Gave me the sense that the overworks will be, if not the tip of the iceberg, at least a broad over layer on top of some more unique environments.

That said, I'm a bit concerned we didn't see any alternative biomes. The benefit of a semi-open world structure like Dragon Age Inquisition is how easy it is to provide varied types of environments (because you don't need to create/ justify the in-between transitional areas). So it would have been nice to see desert/ice/swamp biomes with distinct enemy / gameplay types.

Also, every time Chief gets into a Banshee I wonder how they're going to make that not game-breaking. Like, what will stop you from not going just wherever?

Exactly what I said. This isn't hard. You can show gameplay and similar elements while cutting together a better presentation a little over a month before launch. Stop overreacting.

Explain "more cinematic for hype" sentence.

Nobody is overracting you are the one typing words that makes no sense.

Did I just read someone wants a liner set piece Halo?
Can you at least pretend to know what the fuck you are talking about before concern trolling?
What a joke

Gameplay looks dope as hell and the free form battles look ace.

But man, I only wish 343 had been able to make this Xbox Series only. The visuals are definitely passable for what it is (large and open, full fledged multiplayer suite, Forge to come etc) but they just feel subpar compared to many other recent releases. It looks like a really, really nice Xbox One X game.

Really enjoyed the boss fights, grapple implementation and general flow of upgrading based on a preferred play style (e.g. thruster). Feels like a good evolution of Halo CE.

Something I appreciate that is sometimes at odds with the graphical fidelity people want from their games nowadays is the readability of all the structures and elements of the environment.

They absolutely NAILED this in the multiplayer, and I'm happy that it carries through into the campaign. With Halo's massive sandbox I need to always know where I can bounce a grenade, what surface can I use for splash damage or what surface can make for a makeshift ramp for a vehicle. Balancing that with making a pretty looking game is really hard, but I feel like they've hit a sweet spot.

Every shot looks like some concept art in its simplicity and beauty. I won't say that I don't think there's room to improve but what matters a lot in gameplay doesn't appear to have been compromised. Compare that to some other games where you really have to infer where some invisible walls/surfaces are and can get unexpected results if you use any part of the sandbox that isn't a gun. I appreciate you, 343.

Yeah, for better or for worse the open world/ubisoft like design is popular right now. I personally love it in Assassin's creed albeit it can be a little much at times.

I never played Halo and i'm tired of Ubisoft formula but it's true that people outside this place love to play these games over and over again and no wonder every developer making open world games is trying to ape Ubisoft as much as possible.

Microsoft is going to force me to watch 5's story on youtube.... Launching this but not 5 on pc doesn't make any sense. I mean, I'm happy we got this but I want the full story.

I'm hoping there's a lot behind the scenes. Story/lore suggests there's a lotta shit going on out of sight, so I am hoping we get to see some variety down the line.

Either way, keen to explore!

This footage has me thinking this campaign was never co op to begin with. I still feel that the co op campaign that was delayed is something else aside with MP spartans.

From my understanding the levels are still segmented but MUCH larger now with optional objectives in them. That makes it more bearable than other full open world titles
