First of all, it's great that this game is running at 4K native at 60fps.

However, those character models look... Like something from the current Gen? And not even the top tier of the current Gen.

Even the textures look kind of bland. And the way his clothes move seems very outdated from an animation standpoint.

Watched the whole thing and the game looks like something from this generation, only in 4K/60fps.

I know I might get jumped on by saying this but... The environments look worse than some open world games we have right now. Currently playing Ghost of Tsushima and the world in Halo Infinite looks bland in comparison. And not only the art style, but the geometry, the foliage density, the lighting... What happened here?

Kind of underwhelming for Xbox's flagship franchise on such a powerful console.

EDIT: I didn't know this was cross gen. But still I think it looks underwhelming for current Gen.

I was definitely hoping for more of a reboot. This looks like a lot more of the same.
Yeah, I mean will open world change the game more, I don't know. I was really excited for this, perhaps they could've showed some multiplayer footage.

Visually, I think it looks nice, just not convinced

There's a certain blandness to every rock formation that really dampens the spirit relative to everything else shown. Even with the low-res textures, I think fans would be happier had injected more color into those particular assets.

There are stunning shots in this trailer that clearly take advantage of the 4K, but more often than not those shots stem from excellent lighting which draws my attention to the sky instead.

An issue I pointed out as well. It's just diluting the pool of weapons needlessly. We have an AR, BR and DMR. Do we really need a slightly slower AR that does more damage?

Yeah. I don't understand developers when it's like, "Hey guys we want new guns!" and all a developer can come up with is "oh uhhh here's the same one but new now!"

343 are just, fuck I hate throwing around this kind of talk, but seriously creatively bankrupt. Nothing they do looks remotely original or interesting. They don't push anything. They don't introduce anything new. Their idea of innovation is always either stuff other people did but now in Halo just fucking imported, or literally just Halo but now different!

I'm so fucking tired of it. How is a studio with that much talent so utterly and completely creatively bankrupt.

The GAAS shit needs to fuck off, i'm sick of all these companies making these half assed games and fixing it later. Give me a complete game with some dlc and then a sequel. i don't wanna play infinite for 10 years my god

After watching the footage again in 4K, yeah, this is probably something you could comfortably play on your One X. I'm getting a Series X regardless so I'm going to play it there but it's hard to imagine that there'll be much compromise when the visuals aren't really looking that spiffy to begin with.

if you look at this video and your take is "I won't have fun because these graphics make the game unplayable" you are entitled to that opinion and I'm glad we aren't friends

I suspect I'll be having a blast later this year
Yeah, judging by this demo, the hours I'm gonna spend actually playing the game, rather than evaluating it based on a video, are going to be super rewarding. It really looks like a modern Halo 1 with loads of additions inspired by the rest of the series. To me, that's a surefire recipe for a good time.

Infinite seems to have the ingredients that made Bungie's Halos exceptionally replayable. I'm going to go out on a limb and call that a good thing.

I don't get why Era is disappointed with this?

- Full 4k resolution
- 60fps
- Large area
- Doesn't look like absolutely trash because of the 60fps

What happened to the people pushing for having the best of both resolution and framerate?

Outside of the pop-in I think it looks amazing, I'm so happy they're going back to a more classic art style 😁
Gameplay looked like Halo with a grapple hook, which I am very happy with.

Not a powerhouse graphics wise, but the mechanics and smoothness looks like it's gonna feel great to play! Open world I feel looks like it's gonna lend itself more to coop than single player but we only saw a small piece. Very curious to see the approach post launch as well.

It's really hard to get exited about the graphics of this game when the master chief collection already gives you glorious 4K in all of their games. (And Halo 5 too of course)

It looks way too similar.

Disappointing visually. There is news of ray tracing support though in a patch after the game launches that can maybe address some of these issues.
Yeah, that looks rough. Also not exactly reassuring knowing that this will be the platform for Halo for the next ten years.

I mean, in the end it's all about the gameplay and that looked amazing. But, I expected more. Especially after the first trailer.

The pistol looked awful too. Probably the worst Halo pistol, from an aesthetic point of view.

The music was incredible, but, all in all, this was less amazing than expected.

Really need to watch a direct feed 4K 60 frames video though.

Disclaimer: I'm a huge Halo fan and I've enjoyed every single entry so far. I will like this one, too, no doubt. But I expected more. Cautiously optimistic with regard to the sandbox nature of the game though. That could lead to some amazing emergent gameplay.

It looked okay for current gen, like red dead 2, TLOU2 and GOT all look much better and they aren't even on next gen. Guess I'll have to see it in person but graphically I'm not impressed at all.

Gameplay looks like a return to basics though which is a good move.

Weapon design sucks hard though.

I'm 50/50 on if this will be good or not. Maybe it's time to lay halo and gears to rest and make something new.

It looks like a massive overcorrection to the complaints of 4 and 5 that the art style got too "busy" when it came to armor and weapons, but those kinds of details are kind of needed at the graphical fidelity and resolution games are at now otherwise things just look flat and too "clean"

This is just proof 343 has no fucking clue what "busy" means. That doesn't mean too much detail! You still need texture!

So they just fucking over-correct because they have no idea what the criticism was.

Bungie really was at their peak with Halo 3. Hard to say if it will or even could be topped at this point.

I feel sorry for 343
It's feels like Halo is one of those games that just can't win and fans are never satisfied with...

They should do a new IP next
That said i'm excited to play Infinite.

Holy shit I just realized, they finally got rid of the annoying helmet around the edge of the screen like in Halo 4 and5, thank God! Always hated how it killed the FOV.

This is the Halo game where you will hear "Owen quit playing with your toys!" at the end and they'll pull back the camera to reveal a child playing in a sandbox with master chief and arbiter figures
I was thinking the toy story intros when Andy is fucking around with Woody and the gang before you hear "Andy, it's time for school!" And it snaps back to reality.

I think it looked great, easily pleased. It needs polish for sure. A lot of polish. But I am up for this kind of Halo game. I think they have to rush out some Multiplayer stuff to help ease or unease people who want some classic Halo in Infinite.

That was a very bad demo to show, it's just clearing a guard post. They needed to show something that scalates from standing in the ground gameplay to setpiece but this looked too ordinary.

Bingo.

Not a fan of bullsponge enemies. 2020 can enemies act like they have some self preservation?

The person playing seemed to purposely shy away from headshots for some reason, which meant it took longer to kill a lot of the enemies. It was weird.

Trailer was very reminiscent of the level "Halo" in Halo CE. Pretty stoked about that.

Some of these screenshots look bad even for an Xbox One game, 343 what is you doing baby?

Chief himself still looks great but not sold on everything else graphics wise. AI looked basic. Was hoping to be wowed but kinda apprehensive about things now. As a huge Halo fan I'm still hyped to play it though, hoping this was just a bad showing 🤞

Edit: Still can't get over this image. How are they using this to promote the game? Baffling.

I skipped Xbox last gen in hopes to wait to buy the new one day one. That way I can catch up on some great games and then start everything off with the new Halo. This looked incredibly disappointing. The intro cinematics look amazing but the gameplay graphics were horrible. Maybe there will be another pass in terms of textures and lighting when the final game comes out? I am second guessing any type of purchase after seeing that.

Couple things I noticed watching a second time (yes more negatives). The way the covenant drop ship moves at the beginning is very amateurish, as if it's following a straight line scripted event. Reminds me of shooters from the PS2 era. The ship doesn't actually look like it's flying or conforming to any sense of physics or gravity

Holy shit yes did everyone notice it as it got near the end of the gameplay? The dropship just like POPs to the side. It looked so like...yeah amateurish. What the heck.

Besides graphics the biggest disappointment is AI. It was much better even in halo 3. Gameplay also lacked oomph.

Totally agree. Also some of the animations are really rough. When the first two banished drop in, they perform identical scripted animation sequences. And yeah, big thing I'm noticing is that enemies don't behave in groups, they're just kind of acting independent to one another.

I was fine with the game graphically. I think the disappointment for me was in the enemy AI. Next Gen visuals (least I think) with AI from the 90s?

Nope. I refuse to believe that they are using this screenshot to promote the game

I absolutely refuse to believe it

What is happening?! I know it's cross-gen but shit man, Halo 2: Anniversary looked better than this

Complaints about the "flat" art are bizarre to me when so many people on this forum shit on 343's overdesigned art for Halo 4/5 (which for the record I don't care for). I know some people don't even like Bungie's redesigns of some Covenant enemies for Reach because they're overdesigned. So now when 343 clearly goes back to the well of simpler Halo 3 art, they think it's too flat? Halo fans are like Zelda fans at this point.
