You do realize that the sales of this will directly fund Half Life 3, right? We'll see HL3 released in the next two years. Mark my words.
I mean if the game really takes advantage of VR in gameplay and presentation then probably not
You got any deets? It's not a VR experience. It's a proper AAA full length single player half life title
You really thinks so? In this day an age with metacritic and video reviews etc.
So in the span of a few months we had/will have
A new Kojima game
A new Shenmue
Link's Awakening remaster
FF7 Remake
A new Half Life
What is this timeline I don't understand anymore
I know Idle Thumbs didn't die for this shit but I'm gonna tell myself thats what happened anyway
It's a prequel to Half Life 2.Okay so
Is this the actual half life 3?
The fact that half life 2 ends on a cliffhanger is the sole reason keeping me from getting into the series.
If it isn't valve at least should say it is or what happened to it.
Consoles don't matter to them anymore. Unless something changed I don't think we'll see it on anything but PC.
Well if it is a genuine full Half life game then I'm excited. I just generally get let down pretty hard with VR games because they need to take so many compromises to get it working well.
That's not exactly going to be a simple or intuitive thing to do. It'd be like trying to mod Boneworks to work with a keyboard and mouse. At worst it wouldn't work, at best it'd be insanely cumbersome, and either way you'd lose headtracking and body integration which is the entire point and which enables Boneworks to be what it is to begin withLet's be real, the moment modders get their hands on this there'll be a rush to make a non-VR version.
Half-Life is a legendary franchise and this is the first new game in over a decade...Maybe it's just me but i don't get why people are so excited, it's a VR game not HL3
I mean, it has to be from the looks of it. No other company has invested more in VR development than Valve. If Alyx isn't it, I really have no clue what game it would be.
Pretty much most VR games are a couple hour affairs if they are known IPs IE the arkham game getting a full fledged game of a known IP is what is needed for a killer App if more actual games like that might invest in itThere are already great apps for VR, but none from an established IP of this calibre.
Fact is - no one fully understands this medium as they do traditional games, and it isn't obvious what makes a "killer app"
The stands a reasonable chance of at least pushing SteamVR forward in an even more significant way
Maybe it's just me but i don't get why people are so excited, it's a VR game not HL3

This is a great post.
It is, quite literally, a full half life game. There's zero chance that it is not.
