Gran Turismo 7 Rumored as PlayStation 5 Launch Title
via GTPlanet

Earlier today we got our first official word on Sony's next-generation PlayStation console. The report focused on hardware, but an old rumor aligns with it so well it could give a hint as to the software too.

We talked about a possible two-tier PlayStation Plus program earlier this month. The rumor came from an anonymous European game developer, who posted a variety of specs on the would-be PS5 on Pastebin. A good amount of them match up to the official stats: an eight-core AMD Ryzen-based CPU, Radeon Navi GPU, and some level of native ray tracing support. The leak also suggests 8K resolution upscaling, plus backwards compatibility, both of which Sony confirmed too.

Other details lend the leak credence. It suggested the first official news from Sony would land before E3 2019: check. It also stated the system wouldn't launch until at least next year: check again. A new version of PSVR? Mark Cerny didn't outright confirm it, but he heavily hinted.

The leak then moves to games:

Ps4 exclusive launch games that i know of
Gran Turismo 7 (vr)
Pubg remaster 4k f2p with ps+ only on ps5
Last of us 2 remaster
Ghost of Tsushima remaster
2-3 aaa games more + psvr2 games

If true, this would mark the first time a Gran Turismo game has ever been a launch title. It'd also be a move back to numbered titles, something series creator Kazunori Yamauchi hinted at last year. We sat down with Yamauchi recently in Paris to talk about the FIA-certified GT Championship. He suggested more traditional offline content could come to the next Gran Turismo title.

Prior to the launch of Sport, Yamauchi-san stated the cars models were "over-specced" for PS4, and better suited to the next generation. That could suggest most of GT Sport's expanded car list could wind up in the next installment. It's not a sure thing, however: we heard a similar future-proof comment for the PS3-era Premium car models.

No matter if a supposed Gran Turismo 7 launches in 2020, current GT Sport players can rest easy: Polyphony Digital remains committed to continuing its post-launch support.

Here's an actual link to the Pastebin which was originally posted on December 3, 2018

Honestly, I think it might be legit. The stuff that was posted 4 months ago lines up with the official info we got from Cerny himself. Especially with the 8K talk.

7nm 8-core Ryzen, Navi, backwards compatible, 2020 are all things anyone could've guessed and many did. 8K/60 is part of the HDMI 2.1 spec.

Well I'd be all for it, but not sure I'm convinced on the credibility of this source.

GT7 sure would feel like a killer app launch game to me, though!

Fantastic. Perfect title to show off with. They already have 8K and ray tracing tech demos up and running.

PS4 remasters/ports sound iffy considering BC, at most something similar to PS4 Pro patches should do the trick in terms of boosting performance for the PS5, unless they made the conscious decision of making that a separate purchase, which sounds like a bad move.

The stuff that was right is info that anyone could have guessed.

The Pastebin also got the HDD storage wrong.

Makes sense that we see a new entry soonish from them.

But why would there would be "remasters" of unreleased PS4 games if there is going to be BC?

Absolute bullshit with a capital BS. Why would a third party developer know what first party games Sony planned to launch the system with?

Wouldn't BC make remasters kind of pointless? Specifically games from the PS4 era?
There is a difference, regardless of BC, in playing something that was made to work originally on a 1.8TF machine (PS4) in better hardware (PS5) and rebuilding said game for a new base of (according to the rumours) 14TF.

Granted, it would still have to be one HELL of an upgrade to really justify a purchase for those with the PS4 version.

Given that the source seems unreliable, this thread is closed.
