I been playing RE7 again, and the intro gave me E3 flashbacks and even goosebumps.

Is this the greatest reveal for a Capcom game? The trailer was so far from what we thought a RE7 would be. (RE6 sad memories)

The spooky but great song playing in the background to something straight from Texas Chainsaw meets The Ring, then VII appearing next to someone's leg as the person stares at the mansion with a mysterious figure looking back then RESIDENT EVIL slowly fading next to the VII. GENIUS!

Now, let's be fair, the RE 2 reveal trailer was something else.

The rat moving around as you heard a commotion in the background and then finally fading into Leon had everyone going ballistic including myself. However, I give the nod to RE7 cause many knew RE2 was coming. Many thought RE7 was the Kitchen VR game that was going around the web. Maximilian even joked and said RE7 right before the logo, but then lost it cause it was real. It came out of nowhere.

So yes, I say this was indeed one of Capcom's best reveals, and maybe my top reveals of all time.

Capcom has a high bar to clear with RE8 reveal, but it will be disappointing seeing as there won't be live reactions from an audience. :-/

Your thoughts?

RE7 had some serious damn style. They really did a great job reinventing the franchise with that one, the song in particular being a huge part of that. It's so dang creepy and it's also relevant to the story too.

It worked best when it hit during the credits. Left me with chills... or maybe that was from the utter terror of seeing the Chris design.

My biggest gripe with RE7 is it didn't do the stinger when you hit the start button at the menu. :(

I liked the re2make reveal a little more overall, but the transition to VII popping up and signifying that real resident evil was finally back was crazy, like all of sony e3 2016.

I was so bummed when this got revealed. Since unlike most, I didn't need to be won back over on RE after 6. The demo didn't help matters since you couldn't do anything in it until the later updates.

After all was said and done and the DLC came out. It's one of my favorite RE's now. I'd actually say I even prefer it over 2/3.

Watching the reveal live was really something, my thought process went from "Awesome this looks like a really well made atmospheric horror game" to "OMFG Resident Evil!?!?" As someone who was waiting for RE to focus on horror again for over a decade my hype couldn't have been further through the roof.

I really hated that song, but then again wasn't a huge fan of the game either. Lost its charm about half way through

I enjoyed watching E3 every year but this was my version of the "2015" magical moment, was legit stunned for the rest of the conference.

Gosh, before it i didn't even realized how much i cared for RE at all, the reveal simply won me over.

Speaking of the song, I once heard this lovely rendition of the RE7 safe room theme but playing with the melody of Go Tell Aunt Rhody. I can't for the life of me remember where I heard it, but it's definitely not on the OST -- and yet, it sounded like an official arrangement and not a fan made one.

Has anyone heard this before?

I still watch Max's reveal every few months. It's funny as shit.

Max (jokingly): "RESIDENT EVIL 7"

Title appears*

Watching that video, how did people not know it was gonna be RE7 until the whole logo popped up? Like that's Capcom's biggest series and the only one up to 7, but they wait until the whole thing lol.

This is like when reaction videos waited to freak out until the entire Metroid Prime 4 logo popped up despite the screw attack, Prime music and 4 appearing all before lmaoo

RE7 going back to horror roots that makes even torture porn lovers look away was def not expected.

Because everything up to that point subverted expectations of what RE had become from RE4-6? I don't really recall anything being leaked about this game.

Haha, yeah. It's such a minor (and kind of corny) thing but I love it. It's weirdly iconic? I will say that I always preferred just "Resident Evil" rather than having either the number or subtitle read as well (except for the first Outbreak game which has a great stinger):

But classic RE1 and PS1 RE3 are probably the best in this regard though I would like so many more if they didn't say the number of the game. The ORC one is surprisingly good too.

One of the best reveals ever. And a great song too. When it starts playing in the credits, you can't help but want to jump straight back in.

I need RE8 to follow in its footsteps.

Both were awesome, I think I liked VII just a bit more though as we kind of knew RE2 was coming.

Edit-You figured who actually were metroid fans really waiting for prime 4 and not. It made realise how ff7 fans felt from cloud's smash reveal.

True. I guessed at the last minute it had to be RE7, but it was so different in vibe.
As for the REmake 2 reveal, I loved how that trailer alone got a bigger pop than any of the 4 overdone Sony ones. Really tells you something...

I mean does it really matter? No one realized what this was until the very end and everyone was waiting for the full title to pop-up to confirm it. The VII super imposed onto Resident Evil was a great touch. As opposed to just immediately flashing RE 7

This song is the perfect example of why, stylistically, I think Resi 7 is the best Resident Evil game by a wide margin. That you can listen to this single track and just 'get' what the game is about shows that they really did have a good thing going there.

A little unfair because with re2 it was the first reveal and the others were extended gameplay. People went crazy at the first tlou2 trailer.

Yea, it's not like prime 4 where they straight up showed Samus's logo and played the menu theme. The re7 trailer was cryptic.

Resident Evil had barely focused on horror for the past ten or so years when the game was announced. The main games certainly hadn't focused on horror-- they had the horrific imagery, sure, but not in the same way as what was shown in the E3 trailer for RE7. That, mixed with the change in camera perspective and the obvious limitations in what the player could do (RE5/6 made you a verified badass, while 7 made you vulnerable), is what surprised people. When you compare RE7 to RE5 and RE6, it's an entirely different kind of game.

Yess, I loved that trailer.

My favourite shot is the first-person view of getting dragged by the leg. x)

100% this, I remember watching this on TV. Think Spike? Was hosting some kind of E3 thing. I'm sitting there watching it going. "Oh wow this is interesting/cool" and then the Resident Evil logo came up and I was like "Hah! No shit!" Awesome reveal

It was in the Sony conference, I'm guessing people didn't know it was Capcom until the Resident Evil appeared?

Yes, to the best of my recollection, it was used as a music overlay for a Mr. Everywhere location video guide when the game first came out.

I'm desperately trying to find it again, but three years worth of videos -- and the possibility that that particular one might have been taken down in that time -- isn't making it easy. =/
I hate when that happens. I still regret not downloading one of Kylie's song cover by Magic Dance. Probably gone forever. šŸ˜”

I'm pretty sure it's this one, tho i might be wrong:

IIRC it appears when you access the PS Store page of either the full game or its demo, not sure which.
