This is how I feel about it, actually. It's not a bad movie, but it's not really a good one either. In all honestly, I think it was just very forgettable. It wasn't terrible. It just wasn't the type of film that would benefit in any way, shape or form from Feig's improvisational style. Kate McKinnon almost single-handedly makes it watchable for me.
Yeah, for REAL.I thought it was fine for what it was, especially the 3D theater experience. It felt like there was a lot of last minute cuts and maybe even a budget reduction. I would have loved to see the film without Sony's meddling.
But unfortunately the sheer amount misogyny surrounding the film means that you can even say "Hey that wasn't so bad." without being shat on immensely.
Did anyone watch the video, or are we just commenting on what we remember of the movie?
I think the big hypocrisy for me was when Ghostbusters "fans" in the same breath would trash this film and then go on to praise Ghostbusters 2, as if their bias wasn't painfully obvious.

Took the words out of my mouth. The basic problem with G2016 is that it feels too much like a Paul Feig film and very little like a Ghostbusters film, and that's a big problem because the vibe the og ghostbusters films had was a big part of their charm to me. Also the music and villain super suck. Not a bad film, but pretty average. McKinnon was good in it.
I'm still interested in seeing what the response to Ghostbusters Aftermath would be. Further wonder what happens if Aftermath turns out bad.
It's not bad or good enough to warrant the amount of attention it got.
Oh I'm not saying that there aren't elements of Ghostbusters 2 that are great, but as a whole it's a pretty trash film, especially in comparison to the first one.
It's very paint by numbers, yeah. I think it was only made because Murray owed Aykroyd a favor.
I was more keyed into the parts pointing out this movie is for the kids of today not the, whatever you were 36 years ago.The video essentially requires you to watch the director's cut. Presumably, anyone who didn't like the movie or just thought it was okay wouldn't have invested in the director's cut or want to watch it again.
I didn't hate it on release. But nor did I love it. A perfectly serviceable summer film.
Kate McKinnon saved it for me.
Same I had fun with it too and found it funny.Super fun, more of a spiritual successor to the cartoon, I had a giant blast, Feig is an idiot for spending 150 million on it.
Anyone who calls it the worst movie ever or anything close to it has seen 5 movies in their life.
Also The Last Jedi was the best Star Wars movie ever
