Bought Far Cry 5 on its current deep sale thinking I'd play it once I'd platinumed GoT. I'm in Act 1 and just switched over. Very surprised.

Something about it just feels off. Like I'm trying to kinda just enjoy the world and explore but I'm not really finding anything fun to do. Should I just bounce from quest to quest? So far, the quests have just been a lot of walking and talking, pressing R2, and then fighting like 4 enemies.

I'm trying to think of a title card drop this generation that was as dope as Ghost.

DOOM 2016 was really really good. But I just watched this for a second time (watching a relative play) and that shit still induced goosebumps. The music combined with the beautiful artstyle combined with Jin reaching down and feeling the grass.

"Sucker Punch presents..."

Ahhhh shit.

Nier Automata still has the GOAT late title card.

About 10 hours in and while I love the world and environment and only did the first two "quests" to get the bow and sneak attacks, other than that been doing all the exploration and stuff on my own.

My big complaint is the dual blade enemies are really annoying when you're fighting a mob.

They have a 1-2-3 combo that tracks/slides them halfway across the battlefield to hit you and it feels broken when you're slapping a shield guy and then all of a sudden you dodge twice/dodge roll and their unblockable attack makes them follow you to the ends of the earth to hit. Doubly worse when there's two of em at once. That's my only big complaint so far battle wise, outside of the camera.

Music's been good, the wind was good. Exploration has been fun to do, I just wish they'd had some of the supernatural elements like Yokai and stuff but I get why they didn't.

Was mostly enjoying the game until I hit an escort mission where I have to keep 4 dopes alive who should just wait for me to clear a path.

Also the camera is shockingly poor.

I know people have issues with Jin being boring or whatever but honestly I am just happy to have a protagonist in an American-made game that looks like me, which often feels like a rare occurrence.

I'm torn so far because he gives a very poor first impression. I think mainly it's due to his samurai training and suppressing/controlling his emotions. I'm hoping he gets more interesting over time.

Someone let me know if I'm wrong but Japanese people are usually reserved in public (that's my knowledge from my discussion with my sensei when I lived in Japan). Plus he is noble and a samurai so I'm not surprised that his character is reserved.

Lovely game.

I'm surprised by how smashed I'm getting in battles. I'm definitely getting better bit by bit, but I'll die a couple of times before I take all of the guys out. I'm fighting a boss in the chrysanthemum fields atm, and she's wrecking me.

I get that, but it still doesn't make for a very interesting (or honestly even likeable) character. I found Yuna and even the Mongol leader much more intriguing by comparison.

If outwardly he's reserved, they could give him a more tumultuous inner monologue.

There's a bit of whiplash too with his first
assassination
that could have been a great character moment, but after a brief moment of wracking himself with guilt he goes on for the next ten minutes
assassinating like ten more guards without blinking an eye.
It's very reminiscent of early in Tomb Raider 2013 where Lara kills her first dude and like loses her shit and then murders fifty more people like it's nothing.

Ah! I see what you mean. They could have shown his struggle with going against his code better. I'll have to keep playing to see what they do then.

I absolutely love the haiku areas. It's such a minor thing but I find it so peaceful and relaxing. Also really like that you can look at your headbands to see your haiku choices too.

Does it get more free later on regarding where you can climb things? Yuna mentioned a gear to scale walls.

I'm a bit annoyed at the limited verticality options right now after playing so much AC Odyssey, I don't like how you have to find specific spots to climb up and down.

Got my first Myth rated armor (one from the legendary archer). Dope!

You know what I don't get tired of...jumping towards enemies and throwing kunai midair like some badass. Shit is fun as hell

also this thread needs a Horse name choice poll like asap!

This game is really close to being great. There are just a few things holding it back. Loving it so far.

Moving around is kind of a pain in this game. Just feels really jerky. I don't know why they have a sprint button, or why you get tired from sprinting. Also, coming down off a ledge is WAY harder than it needs to be.

for me, it's less about being 'reserved', & more about being a dim bulb. he doesn't come across as being very bright...

Wonder what percentage of people are playing in Kurasawa mode.

give me a kurosawa story, & i'll check out kurosawa mode...

Is there a NG+? Free roam before/after the end? What it will be like?

Horizon had the meat of the combat available at all times (machines), GoT has the camps and forts... and I'm having a hard time to think of combat related content after you clear the land.
