It seems like i'm in the minority here thinking 90-91 is doable. Can't see this scoring around the same as Gears 4 - that game had 2-3 acts that are nothing but boring robots encounters and forced horde chapters. Easily most underwhelming moments in the whole Gears series.
Assuming you enjoy Gears multiplayer, you'll get the most value out of Gears 5 by far. I've finished Control, and I'm playing through Astral Chain right now; go with Gears 5 if you can only buy one. Its the best long term bet.

I would be surprised it doesnt score higher then Gears 4 wich has a 8.4. With the main complained it felt to safe. Seems Gears 5 addressed things on that, Then it should be higher really. Also there is more content then Gears 4.
Have you used your free/$1 GP trial yet? If not, there's no better time!

I wouldn't expect a whole flood of scores at embargo break. Many outlets will likely hold final scores until after launch so MP can be properly tested.
I feel it has to be between 88-92. Gears 4 got a hugely respectable 84 already and the feedback from previews universally said this improves on 4 in every conceivable way. So on that basis it's certain to be higher.
i hope it tips 90 because I want all games released by Sony and MS to be brilliant. Why would anyone want otherwise?

Play it with Game Pass, that way you can play 2 new games this month.
So, so far we had Polygon and GameSpot in tweets hinting that they find it better than 4,right? Any others since then?

So Gamespot have GoW 4 and 7.0 and Polygon gave it a 9.0

Who did they have reviewing it someone who hates Gears?
That would mean GMespot will definitely give it somewhere in the 8s or 9 even and Polygon might even go above 9? That be something.

Will see. I mean a review is still a one person opinion. Not sure if the game is reviewed by the same person.
Gamers are a fickle bunch anything under an 8 is effectively rubbish.
5 - 7 out of 10 reviews are basically a death sentence.
Look at Ryse widely considered a NOT good game....reviewed below 8.
Gears 4 getting a 7 is more than fine. That game was pedestrian as hell.
