This is false. Many thought the campaign was probably not very good and why TC was afraid to show the SP in all its glory.
I don't think anyone was saying that the lack of footage was definitive proof the campaign was not very good, rather that it was simply a possibility, or that The Coalition were simply behind schedule on the campaign side of things, or that the vision for it may have changed.
The concerns were valid based on the lack of campaign footage though, concerns that were shared by even the most ardent Xbox YouTube enthusiasts, channels and fans, all over forums and social media, just not by some of the most ardent enthusiasts on here who quite literally have a level of blind and unflinching optimism or faith.
Even now, the way the campaign has been shown is still strange and not exactly confidence inspiring, so if it does end up being incredible, the way they've marketed and (not) shown it is going to seem even more perplexing.

No, what you are saying is false. Please, show me those posts that were saying the campaign was probably "not very good" or "horrible" as the other poster said. That is not at all what was happening.
So the cinematics in the game are all confirmed real-time now.. no more low res video at low fps.
That's a huge step forward for the series. Everything will feel much more cohesive.. and I just want to say... the cutscene at the end of the video I just saw made me question if it was really real-time or not. Wow.

Not going to derail the thread further but the narrative was out there.
4 was fine, idk why people don't like it. It was a good Gears campaign.
There were posts during E3 that were speculating that the campaign was in trouble. That Rod and the team can't deliver on their promises of an evolution of the Gears formula.
Absolutely, I'm not denying that at all. As I said, there was concern it would be more of the same and not a reinvention. People weren't saying it would be bad...that is what I was responding to.
It a fine Gears game, better than Judgement, but it still lacked the charm of 1 through 3. Not to mention shooting the robots was very unsatisfying, meanwhile SEGA did it better in Binary Domain for the PS3/360.
For future reference how do we go about requesting to make threads?
People will trumpet this to hell and back every single time robots appear in any single shooter ever, it's not true. It just isn't.

Give me some shooters post Binary Domain that had feedback on par, if not better, than Binary Domain when it comes to shooting up mechanical enemies.
Destiny. I don't even like the game and it's true.
TiF2 as well.
Not to mention trying to kill enemies from long distane with the gnasher and overkill. I wish I had watched that footage cus it just made me mad when I should have been drowning in hype.
I haven't played either of those yet but more incentive for me to finally play Titanfall 2. Admittedly I only had third person shooters in mind.
To be fair with Destiny it's only one faction, but Tif2 has mech combat so of course they would get the on the ground robots to feel fun to fight as well.

I had this experience with Sunset Overdrive. Some reviewers playing it sucked ass and then I watched someone play it on Twitch and he made the gameplay look amazing.

There was a one hour campaign video posted. This has to be the best looking game out on any console. It is not even close.

It's an hour long video that'll get taken down instantly if you post it publicly. It looks fucking insane, way beyond what has been revealed officially so far.
It's kinda crazy that it's borderline already being taken for granite. Before the X come out nobody thought that possible on a 500 dollar box.
Because we have a slew of multiplayer games with three player split screen coop, and is targeting 4k/60fps across all modes. Heck, most single player games are not even targeting that frame rate.
I would have preferred if they cranked up the visuals and gave us a major leap as I'm fine with 30 FPS instead of going to 60

Smart enough to find Gears 5 gameplay, not smart enough to Google Gears 5 campaign, etc? I have my doubts, but ok.
Comparing a game that went through several delays and whenever it was shown looked rough to a game that had a few solid showings of gameplay from other modes, and had a tech test that people got to play and had solid impressions even with server issues the first weekend. One game gave us all solid reasons to be concerned while the other showed off quality polished MP.
I'm ok if it stays around the same difficulty range (though I preferred inconceivable), but I fucking hope they have better checkpoints this time.
