Very promising. This is the kind of thing I was hoping to hear especially after Gears 4 being the same shit again.
we actually set up an interview with them with much more in-depth question and answer style! Should be posted with our coverage of the game ^_^

Back on-topic, I'm so hyped for this game! Still can't wrap my head around the fact that it's on Gamepass when it releases and I can just download it and start playing!
You can watch some recap on yt for the past games, the plot is not exactly shakespeare or kingdom hearts level of stupidity...
Coalition going semi open world with lite RPG elements and shaking up the formula while preserving what made Gears great and keeping the core multiplayer classic with new interesting modes.....

Sounds promising, but, I still kinda hope there's some real gameplay shake up as well as the environments.

I'm more excited for this game than I have been for anything else this whole year. Borderlands 3 being a close second.
Kind of annoyed they both come out the same week. lol
That has been the case since Gears 3 tbh, Hard is the normal, just like Heroic for Halo.
To me, the fact that waves dont instantly get triggered & you can stealth sections, that is a massive change for the Gears loop. I love it!

This is my first I'm hearing about that gif being a cutscene lol. We've had a year of people sharing that gif as representative of gameplay and now all of sudden it's cutscene. Okay, how do we explain this then?
Materials and lighting are better in the E3 trailer.
People have been saying that initial ice seen was a cutscene for a long time now... This isn't the first time you've heard that lol.
And I'm not even going to bother with you comparing two completely different locales and saying "Look, they're both red, so downgrade!"

Makes sense. Jack can heal and revive really quick and can give you a "shield" also.

I'd love to do this but I have qualms about how health works for the enemies.
I hated in Gears 4 how inconsistent my gnasher gibs were. Seemed like sometimes I'd gib a swarm drone point blank and other times they'd tank the hit.
I tend to like the normal mode because it allows me to do the classic gears shotgun cover to cover wall bouncing, but in campaign. If heroic mode makes the enemies beefier it won't feel as fun.
I'm not going to watch any footage, but these changes sound great. Coalition going to pull a God of War and give the series the refresh it needed.
For what it's worth, there is a "Previously on Gears" section in the Extras menu. I would assume it would catch you up relatively well.

If you have Gamepass its worth playing the intro to Gears 4. It's basically a tutorial that jumps through time as you play through the historical events of the game.
Oh my gosh, that sounds so awesome. These guys are major technical beasts.
It's almost like they wanted people to be excited immediately before the game launched, not six months ahead of time so they had time to cool off.
Don't actually know what all is in it, just saw it in one of the videos that was going through all the menus and stuff. There's also a "state of the world" section which I assume covers a lot of the extended lore too.
