Metal Gear Solid has consistently been this game for me. From the early days of holding a trigger and cycling through items and weapons, complete with the iconic sound design:

To the perfected version of it in MGSV:

(Wish I could find an adequate gif of the weapon select menu, but google's not having it)

Always sleak, elegant and crisp, memorable sound effects, ambitious but never cluttered, etc. Sometimes I just cycle through items in my inventory and mess around in options screens because it scratches a mental itch. More:

Unfortunately, screenshots don't really do it justice. You only get the full effect when you see, hear and feel it while playing imo.

Screenshots cannot do it justice, but the way that persona 5 artistically flows and transitions between each menu and sub menu, the sound effects, and the speed and usability are astounding

Resident Evil 4 inventory Tetris. There are other games with a similar system, but that's the best implementation of it in my view.

I always found Resident Evil 4's extremely satsifying. Reorganising your bits and pieces so you could fit an extra grenade or herb in you'd found was almost a mini-game in itself.

The inventory was a game itself. The moments when you buy an upgrade in the shops... Nggghhh

EDIT: Damn it, one minute late!

I'm gonna get killed for this, but I always had a fondness for the UI in Matsuno RPGs like Vagrant Story and Tactics Ogre. Most people consider them very clunky and unintuitive though.

I also really like the Destiny UI, very clean, very pretty.

Metal Gear Solid series immediately came to mind when I saw the thread title. They've always been incredibly slick and satisfying and I looove the little sounds effects.

Persona 5 is another favorite.

I love snappy interfaces that are well animated, and am particularly fond of radial menus which are extremely fast. Even better when game let youbeither press the menu button summon it, or hold it and then release it while hovering over the object you want to select it. Batman Arkham Knight does this perfectly.

On the fly weapon customization a la Crysis feels and looks very cool.

Interfaces that allow to customize guns and rotate them in the viewer, such as MGSV, Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Wildlands (if there are others like this I'm interested !).

I also enjoy little UI elements that appear and animate in reaction to your actions when you aim, for example the Scar hud in CoD Infinite Warfare or the Batmobile in AK.

There are some great UI ideas in some games, but I feel most are underutilized and not as widespread as they should be.

I find the inventory UI of Xanadu Next absolutely delightful with the nice portraits of characters we're interacting with

Wip3out (the third one) on ps1 which designed by tDR which means its great :)
Super simple, flat vector art before it became mainstream and still looks relevant after all these years.

Since Persona already mentioned; especially 3, 3 Fes, 3 Portable, 4, 4 Golden, and 5.

I love how clean God of War 2018 menu screen looked.

One of the flaws is small texts...

It could be better in the sequel, I hope.

Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep (KH3's prologue that was in KH3 until it was removed due to volume increase) and by extension KH3.

*shudders*

Horrible memories being brought up. I miss when God of War had simple menu navigation. I miss a lot of things about old God of War.

But anyways, it's gotta be RE4 inventory tetris.

Civilization VI makes good use of iconography, color coding and clear flowcharts to guide players to (more insight into) all its' systems. With the addition of the civlopedia to go deep on specific mechanics, units, concept, etc.

The Last of Us is extremely well done for the ingame HUB.
Dead Space is pretty great as well, but more the presentation than the management of the "complex" macromanagement/crafting.

They crammed as much as they possibly could and it looks terrible. Just numbers on top of numbers that mean little in the long run.

It's a bit unwieldy these days, but the bleep and bloop sound-effects are just so nostalgic.

The Forza Horizon series has the best UI design in any game ever.

The clips they've shown of the UI in 4 shows that they've stepped it up yet again.

As far as main menus go, I think my favourite is Remember Me. Really cool animation and music.

Pipboy in FO3 and FO:NV was pretty cool...

Worked very well as a In universe UI for your character.

FO4 Pipboy was shit cos of lack of sorting for Armour pieces and crafting items etc.. Mods fix this but it's still not great.....

I like the design of it a lot in Pillars of Eternity 2. Here's an example:

HUD outside of dialogue:

I think Honkai Impact 3rd got very pretty main menu screen. The music compliments it too. The background changes depending on the time of the day. Also if your phone supports gyroscope, then moving your phone moves a camera a little bit ( can be seen at 1:07).

Hmm I would argue this was actually the worst part of God of War. It's far too much clutter at once.

Dead Space for me.

The way there's no actual hud and everything's represented in game on Issac's suit and weapons.

Other picks, like Dead Space and Alien Isolation, are all quite great.

But P5's menus.. My god. My fucking god. The menus were perhaps the best thing about the entire game (this is praise). The sheer style. Whew.

Metroid Prime's map is still one of my favourite takes on 3D navigation. Being able to rotate it in 3D space really benefits the vertical design that many of the rooms have.It also maintains Samus' visor in the UI which makes it feel like it's actually being displayed to Samus.
