Except the stream will be delayed by minutes, so if anything happens they'll swap away long before we see it.

I fully expect this......awkward camera cuts, stream delayed heavily to make sure they can edit in time. Also cannot wait for fake crowd inputs.

Hope people are prepared to record anything with their phones or stream on Periscope because blizzard is going to make sure if their is any protests in that opening conference crowd that no one knows about it.

Good luck with that.

BlizzCon has likely been sold out for a while, so any protest would have to be mostly outside the convention center.

If you're going to Blizzcon you're already their most engaged customers, I'm guessing a lot of attendees will know about the controversy and this attempt to organize.

Pointless.

We won't see it, since Blizz will make sure of that and they'll likely just have security escort them out anyway.

Pointless, why?

The protests will be outside anyway, and press will cover them if enough people show, which they will if they organize themselves in time so I ask again, how is this pointless?

The employees who are already demoralized will sure as hell see it. It's not just about public opinion, spreading dissent within Blizzard is a strong vehicle for reform.

Buy tickets and attend Blizzcon to own Blizzard
1) wasnt it sold out before the controversy?
2) I strongly doubt Blizzard brings home any profit from ticket sales alone

If attendees protest by disrupting the marketing efforts avoiding merch purchases, it would be pretty damaging to to Blizzards goals for the event

Dunno if it was already mentioned, but this is the subreddit helping organize the protest: /r/ProtestBlizzcon. Anyone who lives in the area should consider checking it and going there.

Also, from reading Grayson's report at Kotaku, consider not directing any hatred towards individual members of the company. They've received several death threats they consider credible.

In keeping with precedent, any presenters/employees on the stage while a protest occurs during the Blizzcon presentation need to be furloughed for six months...

I'll never understand people rushing to quote and reply to a guy who is obviously wrong like KoolAid. A half dozen people beat you to it, read the rest of the thread already. This topic is more important that KoolAid's shit takes.

I hope they get a decent turnout for a protest, I'm somewhat skeptical but I've been surprised by how long the legs have been on this so far. I can't believe Blizzard doubled down on this shit. They had an easy out.

I honestly hope they turn it into a complete shitshow. The gaming media will of course be there in force, and they will cover this story if there is one there to cover. Be inspired by the red T shirt dude and just open up on their asses.

Gamers rise up? Cosplay and creative shirts? Protests? All I thought of was this old gem...

Public shaming is a useful tool in making people reconsider their dumb opinions.

Great stuff, and hopefully all remains civil and peaceful. But I truly feel that these kind of protests should been organized in secret, through social media, and then show up suddenly when they couldn't think of any machiavelian shit and blame it on the protesters - capitalism and all that.

Also, I fully expect them to cancel the Q&A session at the last moment.

Honestly it's not a bad idea

They can take control of Blizzards huge annual event and control the messages coming out from it in the news. No one will want to write about WoW dlc if there's a giant protest shitstorm.

Or else Blizzard is forced to cancel the whole thing.

And it was done already. No point derailing a whole topic because people are too lazy to read beyond the first reply.

The funny thing about derailing threads is that pointing it out almost always only derails it further. Most posts here are not about what you're complaining about anyway. You starting that conversation now made it a subject where it wasn't one before.

And i'm well aware that me replying to you is also derailing further. So i'll just stop.

it's not even the worst take in the thread to pile on, this probably is

On that we agree lol

As long as the protest remains civilized, I 100% support this. Hopefully people who already bought tickets and can't refund them will join, and hopefully not many people will buy tickets just to go there. No point in giving Blizzard money just to protest, I think.

This is going to be really interesting and I'm eager to see what happens over there this year. Hopefully it makes a difference.

Tickets are sold out, no worries there.

The real damage to Blizzard from this is all the negative news coverage it will create. Which is the primary tool and purpose of most protests.

I would honestly prefer if people wouldn't show up at all. Punish them with indifference towards their marketing event, don't even give them a chance to spin this with an announcement where a crowd goes wild. I'm just way too hopeful I think.

Hypothesis : we will see protest during the Blizzcon but they kept Diablo IV under their sleeves. All form of protest will be eclipsed by Diablo IV annoncement.

Nah would just feed a "gamer's too lazy to even protest" and have already forgotten narrative. Going there and being peacefully disruptive with chants, shirts and signs on livestreams, questions that make them squirm and outside a protest with a good amount of people. That is the dream scenario.

Blizzcon isn't really a "for profit" venture as much as it is for fans.

They should protest the Chinese emabassy as well. This is about the Hong Kong people right? not just everyone whipping themselves up into a frenzy about a video game publisher that operates in China.

Blizzard is a lightning rod right now so people passionate for the cause will bring the most attention to it by protesting at Blizzcon.

After the whole Diablo Immortal outrage thing last year I'm not entirely sure I have faith in gamers to pull this one off.

It's always astounding to see the takes on this whole issue outside of the specific threads.
Go go gamers! Own the evil corporation!
This isn't about some game or microtransaction someone doesn't like. This is about a company doing the bidding of a government that's committing atrocities left and right, from violently shutting down protests over crating the most dystopian surveillance state to committing ethnic cleansing to muslim minorities.

Gtfo with this nonsense.
