Yes, if I really enjoyed the game and it's leaving the service, I might want to keep it in my collection. Has happened with Ninja Gaiden, for instance. I'll also buy the Yakuza games because I want to support more Japanese games on Xbox. I do not buy Microsoft first-party game anymore and a lot of other games that I've played but will not return to. Still, Game Pass as far as we know compensates developers and publishers fair and square, so I don't feel bad about playing their stuff on Game Pass.

Nope. Imo playing it on Games Pass and spreading word of mouth is enough to compensate.

Nope, but if something I would like to continue playing released there, for sure. I have about 150€ expendable money each month, I'm sure the richer ones can do the additional support.

Only thing I recall buying was Division. I played it for like 3 months on GamePass. Then it left. So I got it next time it was on sale

Not yet, no. There hasn't been anything that's left Game Pass that I've wanted to continue playing. I don't mind purchasing the game if that does eventually happen though.

Theoretically, no. If publishing their game on GP isn't sustainable, that's squarely the developer's problem to solve rather than mine. As we've seen over the last year(s), many of them have little regard for players — or the type of player I constitute anyway. So I'm just gonna get mine too, unless they're really out there doing the Right Things 😇

However, I do sometimes buy games that are on GP just because the service is a pain in the ass on PC sometimes.

I haven't done yet but I do add games I like to my Steam wish list. Would never buy from the janky Windows store.

I definitely don't go out of my way too, but if I wanted to replay a game after it left the service I obviously would.

I did recently buy Slay the Spire on Steam after logging something like 50 hours into it on GamePass so that I could play it while my wife watched TV.

Thing is I don't even feel bad about paying a low price since Gamepass is essentially a rental service and those typically don't cost much.

That's some guilt trip?.

In the case of gamepass, it's up to the devs to decide if the money they are offered to be on gamepass is enough to support them, gamepass subscriptions are already supporting devs.

I really love the feature of discounting the games. It has gotten me to buy some just because I like to own them. I don't see myself always being a gamepass subscriber, but it's hard to tell. Some games also leave the service.

I bought Sunset Overdrive not as much to support Insomniac, who I am sure are doing juuuuuust fine with that Spider-man movie, but to show support for the idea of the PC port, since I appreciated that.

That's some guilt trip?.

In the case of gamepass, it's up to the devs to decide if the money they are offered to be on gamepass is enough to support them, gamepass subscriptions are already supporting devs.

And my brother was telling me it's a decent deal too.

Although a part of that is in fact because some people then buy the games outright after playing them on gamepass.

I don't know a ton of details but naturally Microsofts have all sorts of metrics.

I used my trial as a demo service for PC and will be buying some of them in the future. I didn't like commiting to anything on a rental as then I'd feel I have to resubscribe or buy the MS store version to continue my progress down the line.

No, never. They put their game on Game Pass why would/should I support devs/publishers further? Game development isn't a special snow flake charity. I don't go out of my way to make sure that the workers who made any other product I purchase get more money so that I might potentially get more product, lol.

I've never done it. I'm someone who rarely plays a game again after beating it. The only exceptions are multiplayer games like Gears 5 which have unlimited replay value. That's not to say i won't buy one in the future.

No.

It's like downloading the songs and movies again when you already can play them on Netflix and Spotify.

I bought Halo MCC on Steam despite having it on Game Pass because i want to have it on Steam and give extra support for bringing one of my favorite franchises to PC. Also thinking of doing the same with Gears 5 since Steam has it on sale now. Have you bought any games from Game Pass since subscribing?

I thought Game Pass supported them fairly, why should I buy the games while I'm subscribing?

Edit: Lol, looks like I was LTTP.

I think I would probably buy something if it became part of my all time favourite list and it was no longer part of game pass

No fucking way.

They get a fee for their product being on gamepass, I'm not double dipping that's ridiculous.

I'd pay for a version of the game on a different platform if I wanted achievement support or if the latest version of the game wasn't available.

For example, Slay The Spire on Gamepass doesn't have achievement support and is also running a build that's months (?) behind the Steam version.

Hollow Knight doesn't have achievements on the PC Gamepass but it does for the Xbox counterpart.

But outside of instances like that, I haven't had any strong reasons to purchase a game beyond the play through I've done already.

I don't tend to purchase the games themselves, but I am more inclined to get DLC. Gotta support them even if only a little.

Not yet. But I definitely want to get Gears 5 physical. Also if a game leaves the service and I want to play it again I will just buy it

They already got paid by microsoft, they've got it figured out. If it isn't that clean cut, then they probably should have thought twice about offering their game.

So far, I bought one game. Bridge Constructor: Portal. But that's mainly because it felt more right to have a Portal game on Steam, and the game was on sale.

Otherwise, I treat these games as I treat movies - If I see something that I want to revisit, then I will buy it. But that's only because it suits me, not because I feel the need to support the creators.

I treat it like music. I stream most of it, but if I love an album damn right I buy it too (though much rarer than music, tbh).

I don't know what your problem is with holding onto your money, but I don't have it. GamePass does support them. It's why they offer it.

Only reason to get a game twice is to get it on Steam, or to get an old game when it becomes available digitally.

I can only assume they are being compensated well enough for it to be worth it for them. So I don't feel bad not buying the games.

If something came off the service and I wanted to play it still I'd buy it though.

No I assume they've already got some money from MS when going up on the service. It that's not enough then the economics needs to change.

I don't buy a complete series box on bluray after I've seen a TV show on Netflix either.

No, of course not, why would I? They already get paid and for some of them it's like a second coming of their game, specially if it has microtransactions.

Only exception would be for a Switch version after "testing" the game on Game Pass.

Microsoft have already said that devs are fairly compensated for having their games played on GamePass. Devs wouldn't continue to release their games on there if it wasn't worth it.

Video game industry propaganda has convinced people that multi-million and even multi-billion dollar companies need your charity to survive.

It's kind of impressive when you think about it

I've bought a couple that were leaving (Hitman and one other that escapes me). I've also bought content and DLC for GP games so when they leave i'll have to buy those too. Ive got to say, I would have never spent money on any of those items if I wasn't exposed to them first on GP.

I bought the Guacamelee 1 2 Punch after beating G2 on Gamepass. But I think that's it. I recently bought Plague Tale and before I opened it, it went to Gamepass so I returned it.

Am i not supporting devs by purchasing gamepass as they get money from Microsoft ?

This "SUPPORT THE DEVS" narrative is really out of control lately, especially when all is said and done it's publishers pocketing cash, like with the whole EGS affair.

I think i'd much rather not give charity to multimilionaries.

Because of game pass PC, I'll probably end up getting State of Decay 2 on Steam because that is the type of game I'd like to go back to. For the most part though, I'd want to use Gamepass to play "one and done" games that I probably wouldn't play through more than once, so there wouldn't be a want to buy them afterwards.

No but it will make me buy sequels of games that I played and enjoyed on it. I will buy Hollow Knight Silksong whenever it comes to Xbox at day one for example.
