No it's not to soon. When they announced BotW at E3 2014, they showed it at the Game Awards 2014. Also, no the game is not earlier in development. Its been in development over 2 years. It has a high chance of releasing holiday 2020.

Most of them weren't AAA games like people are predicting here. Don't get me wrong, there's going to be some BIG trailers here, but not a ton of them.
To be honest, I expect maybe two AAA reveals (last year we had Mortal Kombat 11 and Dragon Age 4, if that counts as a reveal), one being the new Batman game from WB Montreal. In terms of trailers for already announced games... It can be anything really, from Dying Light 2 to Ubi games and beyond...
- Ubisoft will probably show Watch Dogs Legion again.
- Halo Infinite flighting?
- Cool DOOM Eternal montage. Maybe something else from Bethesda (likely not BGS, though).
I want Sony to drop a New IP teaser a la FromSoft/Shadows Die Twice.
Just the SIE logo, the teaser and the PS5 logo with 2020 at the end.
I want ERA to go nuts with speculation until Feb >:D

Epic announced their store there, which was the biggest piece of news.
Outer Worlds was revealed there, too, as was Ancestors: Human legacy
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
We also had AA stuff that failed to pick up traction like Atlas and Scavengers
So, not really just indies, and there's a good chance of some major stuff showing up there.
Damn this years game awards are going to be the best ever for me because I care about so many nominated games while also being a toss up to who wins and it has the potential to show way more trailers for games I cant wait to see gameplay for. Give me that Platinum and Fromsoft Keighley!!

That's literally the only game I care about to be honest. Gaming isn't a priority for me lately but Halo gets my gears going

Actually, I'm about 99% sure that both of those will show up here. I doubt they'd wait for a State of Play or E3 to reveal them.
I think Crash is pretty likely but RE3 I doubt. Maybe I'm just being nervous but I think it'll be at E3.

RE3 probably wouldn't have been leaked this early then. And if it's a 2020 game like the rumors are suggesting then they'd want to reveal it ASAP.
I'm still waiting on a release date for Biomutant... that'd better come out before these remakes.
