Funimation teases Paranoia Agent (UPDATE: Blu-Ray release Dec 15 2020)

I have fond memories of watching this late at night on Adult Swim (when I should have been getting my rest for school lol) and have been hoping to see it get a new video release.
Kind of funny side note: I bought a Paranoia Agent PSP UMD video years back, but when you play the UMD it loads up the original Hellsing anime instead.

I did a dance when they released Millennium Actress. I misplaced my DVD years ago.
Damn... I knew I screwed up by not selling my mint original DVD set before now.

Jonathan Klein's original dub is pretty darn immaculate. I'm not sure it could be improved upon in any meaningful way.
My major complaint is just that they didn't translate any of the text.

I would have to assume that they would mention any new dubbing efforts if they were planning on doing one, so it's fairly safe to say that it will retain the Geneon dub. It's a very good one, at least.
An all time favorite, I remember stayin' up late to watch it on Adult Swim in HS. I hope they re-release the series, and/or create a new one.

Well, the good news is that they're doing the former. The latter is definitely never happening with Kon being taken from us too soon.

Did a quick skim of the first episode; it's a deinterlaced upscale, and all the shots on the DVD that were super low-res continue to be low-res on the stream.
Basically: it's digipaint, and the only way to properly fix it is to reanimate it at a higher resolution, ala what Trigger did with Gurren Lagann ... and good luck making your money back on that.
Dub is Geneon original. OP is JP, and ED is JP as well (unlike the Geneon release, which used an English credits scroll). This unfortunately means that the dub credits are missing. I assume a reworked credits scroll is coming for physical.
That said: just watch it. It's Paranoia Agent, ergo it's good.

What a coincidence, I just finished watching the series just yesterday night.
Spanish Blu Ray, but looks like a dvd with some very pixelated low res scenes and a very soft look in general, don't think it's much better looking than a dvd to be honest.

The director's commentary on the original DVD release was something. Kon was quite candid about having nothing after the mid point and winging the ending with those standalone eps in the back end to giving him some time to think of an ending. Still loved it for the most part.
