My bet is it's either innocuous or something one of the family members wanted hidden from the others and were never able to retrieve (whether that's porn, stalking, a diary, or a one man musical they performed about Garfield).

You kinda have to watch it now. You might regret it later if it's something truly terrible, but it might also lead to the person paying for their actions.

A few months back, I heard a story from somewhere about a man who killed a couple women and put their bodies in oil drums in his basement. He finished the basement and I guess he built around them, the next owners of the house never noticed, but the owners after that remodeled the basement, found the containers, and the dude finally went to prison for his crimes.
