Yes - I haven't played a sim racer in so long and the State of Play last week brought back all of he nostalgia and feels for GT.

I actually just beat the campaign in FH5 this past weekend in preparation when the game comes out next month!

I dropped FH5 after about a week, I am just burnt out on the formula after playing a bunch of 3 and 4. Looking forward to screaming at the TV as I fail license tests over and over again in GT7.

Unless it comes to PC like FH5, no. I don't have a PS5 and I don't expect to be able to buy one this year either with the non-existent supply. Can't buy PS5 software with no hardware in sight.

There seems to be some missconception in this Thread.

GT7 is also coming out on PS4. I understand though, if people prefer to wait and play the best version of it. Still, you technically don't need a PS5 to play it.

Yes, but not for 60$. I'll wait for the first big price drop most likely and pick it up once it's 30$ or less

This is me. And it's with every Horizon game. I recognize how good they are, but off track, open world racing ain't for me. I get bored with it easily.

Gran Turismo was what made me like cars and motorsports. I will play GT7 day one on my PS4 Pro, here's hoping it won't lift off from the shelf (lol it will)

They are completely different games.

I got bored pretty quick with FH5, but at least it was Game Pass so it didn't really matter. Looking forward to the license tests and the new cafe stuff in GT7!

Absolutely. FH5 is fun, but it's not really a racing game with all the rubberbanding nonsense.

No, the thing that kept me hooked to FH5 as a non-car guy was the constant stream of diverse rewards, accolades and incentives to try new things but I don't see that in GT7.

Yup, absolutely. I'd say I'm more into GT in general over Forza Horizon although I did much prefer Horizon 5 over 4.

Nope, and will skip forza when it comes out as well. Sims like gt/forza/flight are more chore then game imo.

Ah, I thought it was PS5 only for some reason. Still, I'm not really interested in playing the game on PS4. I will play Horizon Forbidden West on my PS4 though, even if it's far from optimal, but it's more Horizon! I'll endure tech-suffering for that game and only very few other games.

Almost definitely. Even if GT7 has growing pains early on, it's still a series worth your attention for its particular style and focus when it comes to driving, racing, and the overall car enthusiast hobby. Ironically, GT7 has more appeal to me (in the early days) testing to see how it looks and feels on PS4.

If I'm being critical, the series has had meaningful problems starting as far back as GT5, and GT6 was more developed but had a huge player fall-off (and then both games lost online support abruptly), and Sport launched so cut-down in scope/content that it didn't compare favorably even to other sim racers criticized specifically for their lack of content at launch. But even with all that said, it's a series that still feels worth my time, and their renewed focus on the career mode is wonderful to see. Hell, the almost laughably limited VR mode in GTS is my most played VR experience because I enjoy Time Trials that much, and it's the most basic mode of the series.

Yea, Forza Horizon is fun but it's really arcade.

If i want to do some "serious" racing, Forza Motorsport and GT is the way to go.

Both are 2 totally different games.

So hell yea :D

Not right away. We'll see. Forza Horizon is my 3rd fave franchise ever. Obsessed over the old Burnouts. Forza Motorsport is...fine. The most simm-y racer I ever got into heavily was PGR, and that was still pretty arcade-y.

However, previews mention alternate modes and accessibility for non gear-heads, so we'll see. I enjoy FH5 doing timed laps...like once a week for a few laps. When that becomes the game, not so much.

GT is not a sim. It's a track based sim/cade racer.

Play IRacing, ACC, RFactor if you want to know what a true "sim" is.

Oh.... the genre Entitlement...

Gran Turismo is probably the inspiration to all of those titles that you just quoted.

The reason why car simulators evolved into a small niche that is profitable in the last 5-10 years and not exclusive to car manufacturers and professional race drivers it's because GT manage to blend the fun and easy to access approach with hardcore racing fans and expended the genre for millions of players back in the 90s and early 2000s.

GT is simply GT. If you want to drive seriously you can play GT. But if you want to just have fun with your console and controller, GT is also there for you.

Gran Turismo can entitle itself as what they want after being so influential to the genre for so many years. So.... "The Real Driving Simulation" just like the box says.

The GT series is pretty much the antithesis of what I want from a driving game so I won't be playing it. I haven't played FH5 yet though, but I will eventually as I love 3 and 4.

I'm going to wait. I'm still having a lot of fun with FH5 and will likely see if Forza Motorsport 8 makes it this year.

If it does, I'll probably default to that for my Sim racing simply because it's on Game Pass.

I think GT7 looks great though but I only see myself dropping the money later this year if Motorsport gets delayed.

Likely, ironically because it's been so long since Motorsport. But 6 turned me off the series in comparison to FM. Never played Sport but GT has felt a step behind when they were coming out regularly at the same time. Maybe I'll enjoy 7 might just get a disc I can trade or wait for a sale

It really is stupid that their games don't also come to PC day one. Such a huge source of revenue just ignored.

Yeah, they're coming around slowly though. I think the process will speed up due to all the factors currently at play in the market. MS making big moves and having their games on PC day-one to great success. Hardware shortages... stuff like that. They can't sell PS5 games to people who can't buy a PS5.

I didnt vote but even if i had a ps5 it would be a no.

The only reason i played fh5 and eventually fm is because they are on gamepass. Racing games are not something i put alot of hours into

Absolutely. GT7 is a very different kind of racing game. I can enjoy both. Thought I might focus on GT7 once it releases to focus in its driving.

I will always buy Gran Turismo games. Not only do I enjoy the game play, but it holds a special place in my gaming life, which is totally an age thing because I'm old lol.

When I was in high school I remember picking up a gaming magazine that had an article and review of Gran Turismo 1 which I had never heard of as it was only released in Japan. It had over 100 cars in it which at the time seemed like an impossibly for a racing game. I remember the joy I got out of finally buying it when it released in the U.S. and I've been a fan of the series ever since. GT games are instant buys for me always as much for nostalgia as the gameplay itself.

Yeah the State of Play mostly sold me on it. I say mostly as I preordered a physical copy so I can sell it if it ends up not clicking for me. I played a lot of GT1 and 2 back in the day, didn't get into 3 and haven't touched the series since. A lot of whether I like it will come down to how difficult I find it as I'm very casual on racers. FH5 I mostly leave on average with the driving/braking line on, lol. If I'm struggling 100% of the time in GT7 it probably won't click with me. I found GT3 that way, but had really enjoyed GT1 and 2 and found them not all that hard as long as I looked up some good tunes, best cars to use for various states of progression etc. Hoping for the same here, and if not I'll just sell it and move on. I'm getting closed to done with the content I want to do right now in FH5 and want another racer to play while waiting on the expansions for that.

Yep. I am picking it up day of release. I love FH5 and it might be my favorite racer of all time, but I got to give GT a chance after Sport. Sport's launch was pathetic and I dropped it soon after.

Over the years, it has gotten better and I'm sure much of that has went into 7. GT7 is a more traditional GT and I'm ready to experience that again.

Not unless it comes to PC. I've given up on getting a PS5 and don't really want one anymore.

Yes, they both scratch two different itches:

FH: Driving along the open road and chilling to great music.
GT: Racing on circuits and being immersed by the competitive experience.

I haven't played Forza Horizon 5 since a few weeks after it released, so I think I'm done with that game at this point even faster than the previous games. I'll be getting GT7 next month because I love the series and it's something more fresh than what Forza Horizon is at this point.

Yes defo picking up GT7. In FH5, The severe rubber banding and the way that the AI seems to cheat to get ahead is really pissing me off.

Maybe! I got into Forza Motorsport during the 360 era, and planned on checking out the next one, but I've never actually played GT. Open to a more sim-y game.

I'll probably be waiting for Forza Motorsport. Not in a rush to drop $70 when the FM will hit Game Pass.

For sure. GT can be intimidating but it's still accessible. It's more of a sim but it's kinda like souls difficulty for me, a bit overblown to the point it puts ppl off before they even play it.

I'm not big on racing sims, even FH isn't arcadey enough for me. At least with Game Pass I can play FH and FM a bit and get some enjoyment out of them without having to spend money on them. I'm definitely interested in seeing the next Forza Motorsport since it's next-gen only and a reboot.

Regular ass racing is the worst part of racing games for me so no.

Forza Horizon gives me a racing game that isn't really overtly about racing. It's mostly about hooning, exploration, collecting/customizing cars, etc. The races that exist are short and generally very easy to complete.

I feel like this poll could've used an extra option like "No, because I don't have PS4/5" as I'm sure there are people that would pick it up, but maybe can't at the moment.

I would like to try it, but I've always been more into arcade racers than sims. Looks beautiful though.

I'm waiting to see how always online is implemented. Always online is typically an automatic no from me, but it's Gran Turismo so I'm waiting to see how it all turns out.

A few years back I preferred Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo over Forza Horizon. Since FH4, I had a blast with the Horizon series, so I'm curious to see how I still feel about more serious racers.

But I ain't paying 80€ for any game. Maybe by the time GT7 goes on a nice sale, the new Forza Motorsport will be on Game Pass.......
