Amazing.

Defenders might be great going forward but they've been caught many times, it's just they usually managed to get out the hole and saved by teammates.

Whelp, guess that's that then.

Still, Leeds did pretty well for themselves. Expected this to be a relatively easy win for Liverpool.

God damn that's frustrating from Rodrigo. Supersub that does nothing apart from giving away the dumbest penalty & costs Leeds the game.

Our defending was awful but the priority's always starting the season with a win. Leeds were impressive going forward but it was made easy for them at times.

West Ham about to be in another relegation scrap?
We barely stayed up and went backwards in the transfer market. We've got a horrible run to start the season to boot.

Our season starts at Fulham as far as I'm concerned; anything picked up between now and then is a bonus.

A saving grace for us is no fans in the ground. Our fans are ready to riot right now. We would no doubt only be contributing to the toxic atmosphere if we were in the stadium.
Moyes needs to get the players focused on playing well and fitness and hope the board sort themselves out and pick up at least a couple of first team ready players before the transfer window opens.

Our fans polled bottom of the pessimism charts in the league this week and it's just reflective of the awful state of the club paired with our shit run of opening fixtures.

You think Moyes will still be in charge by the time Fulham comes around?

I don't think the club or the fans can be mad at him for the way the fixtures came out. I don't think many people will fancy us to pick up much in the next 6 games.

if we're on 0 points at gameweek 7, yeah, the pressure is gonna be on but that's just how football is nowadays. Unless a really good manager makes themselves available, (and who would want to come to this circus?) we have to get behind the manager and players.

Fans were never hyped about Moyes but, right now, the fans are angry solely at the board.

They've regressed severely.

It's hard to say definitively, as almost everything has an asterix next to it:

  • Lacked the instensity since the restart? True, but the league was already a formality.
  • Leeds were a bigger threat than probably anyone expected, but several players were returning from injuries.
  • It's very easy to conflate games into one overarching narrative, but getting the 3 points right from the off is probably the most important takeaway of all.
  • There are also a couple of players who need to be benched for a while. Gomez/Firmino are the glaring ones; the former being a liability for a while, whilst the latter has been in a really bad slump. In the case of Firmino, you have a player who is so instrinsic to the system that there's clearly some reluctance towards dropping him. Now is good a time as any to give Minamino a genuine run of games, as he looks confident and has actually been playing in his preferred position.
  • That relatively small squad running for so long is my main worry though, and overlays the fears of letting a Thiago pass them by. It would be a real shame to almost disregard yourself from a title challenge.

Really curious to see if James Rodriguez can still show something after barely playing in the past years.

Richarlison thinks a bit too much of himself.

Edit: also who is this guy who replaced Dele Alli?
