FL's the next epicenter at this point.
Arizona's likely going to hit hospital capacity first.

Y'all have bars open? Do you at least have people write down their contact details so you can reach out to them when an outbreak has been traced back to the bar? How am I kidding, this was a publicity stunt, not a smart and thought out reopening.

lol

Literally nowhere in the US is doing that.

In Tampa it looks like you'll have to be wearing a mask in order to step into a business. Good. I get too many customers without one.

100 new cases pops up in Beijing and it goes into military style lockdown. Record breaking cases confirmed and Florida proceeds to open sports league and theme parks, sigh...

Samething for Cali, 4000+ cases yesterday and bars are allowed to open this weekend...wtf?

Local news story with video including Miami Mayor. I don't think he's taking this seriously enough. Open phase 2 businesses - bars, strip clubs!!, casinos, movie theaters, indoor restaurant seating, etc. - means more massive spread. For example, look at the idiots at the beach not following social distancing or wearing masks (as seen in the video).

Florida Sets Another Daily Record With 3,800 New Coronavirus Cases, Nearly 90K Total

Florida set another daily record for coronavirus cases Friday with more than 3,800, pushing the state’s total to nearly 90,000. With 3,822 new COVID-19 cases, the state’s total rose to 89,748, according to figures released by the Florida Department of Health. It was the second straight day the...

Edit: Our major Miami hospitals seeing a surge and little or no ICU beds available. Miami is about to be a real shitshow.

Shit man. My conservative coworker, who is stubborn but I still have love for just because we've known each other for so long, insisted on going on her universal studios vacation this week with her 5 kids and mother. They're there now and I just can't stop thinking about how fucking stupid they are for going and how they're coming back to a state that has done a great job at managing it (Kansas.... Thank God for our liberal governor).

My dad continues to work as a dentist in Miami-Dade despite me pleading with him to put a halt to his business until things calm down.

He's apparently taking basically every precaution he could (mask + goggles, constant sterilization of the office, avoiding contact with my mom when it gets home until he takes a shower, along with putting all his clothes in the wash ASAP), but I don't think it will be enough when he inevitably operates on the mouth of someone who has COVID-19.

And I'm even moreso worried about my mom, who has asthma. She is staying at home but if my dad gets infected, it is in all likelihood she'll become infected as well.

I've tried everything I can think of, but he's not listening to me. =(

I hear you, its such a shitty situation all around. We are nervous (I'm from CT) up here around NYC that our case load will be re-ignited with the surge down in FL as well. I really hope Disney thinks twice about opening next month.

I really wish my parents didn't live in Jacksonville. My father needs a heart transplant, and if he gets this, he's basically dead. I hate DeSantis and all the idiots down there who let this get out of control.

to think Florida could have properly shutdown like other states during March/April/May

right now, Florida is going to export the virus to other states

This is tragic, and it truly does fall on Florida's leadership and the way they have ignored the scientific community's guidance. My heart goes out to people living there, and that includes those not wearing masks because some unscientific, greedy dipshit told them they "didn't work". Fuck false idols.

My company built an overflow hospital in Miami back in April and I'm pretty sure they already decommissioned and shut it down... now is when they might actually need it.

Edit: it may actually still be up, I can't find any news story about it shutting down yet.

A small portion of the increases probably are. It was an unavoidable risk and consequence of the protests but from what I saw most were good about masks and spacing.

Protests in Miami were ever *huge*, I think max they got up to 1000 people in an outdoors environment.

BTW I live in Florida and got the virus about 3 weeks ago. I only go out of the house to work and yet I caught the virus.

How shitty was it for you, and how you'd feeling now?

I keep contemplating quiting my job. Most of my co-workers and customers are good about masks. But, there are the occasional dumb asses. And I don't really need the job.

I spent like 5 days with flu like symptoms(coughing, sinus, runny nose) plus I had funny sensations when breathing, it was like breathing vick vaporub.

Symptoms went completely away on the 10th or so day.

I spent a total of 15 days quarantined in my room playing video games and watching Netflix.

Overall it wasn't bad for me but I'm on my 30s and very healthy.

Wtf. MSNBC is live from Boca saying some hospitals are out of beds. My 86yr old mom lives in Delray. I can't even convince her to do grocery deliveries.

We have to deal with a big Trump supporter at work, and she was going on and on how hospitals get $9,000 for a COVID diagnosis/bed placement and $36,000 for a COVID death being the reason the numbers are so high. It's a ruse to make Trump look bad because these people are dying from other things they just happen to have COVID. Do you know how grossly stupid you have to be to go around declaring this?

Wow... who would have thunk? I mean with such good leadership and handling of how to stop the spread I am completely surprised by this...

Another reason I'm glad I've moved far far away from Florida (and honestly don't live in a red state. Though apparently our state is having problems too and I think we handled it far better than Florida).
