You can easily find games to play with your family and friends on other platforms. What makes this one different?

is the the console with super strong 2D tech that other consoles can't handle?

edit: omg that was such a terrible trailer!

The music in this trailer juxtaposed with what he's saying about family appeal and casual gaming. I laughed, hard.

Anyway, it's not a terrible idea, but I'm not sure about the execution.

I mean, you can even do that on Facebook. And that's free. I have no idea why they're acting like Couch Multiplayer is dead. Nintendo especially has plenty of games that are local multiplayer. And that's not even counting indies on all 3 platforms.

There's no way this is easier to "get" than a Switch.

I'm convinced this whole thing exists to launder money. I don't know what else is the point or why a company would try and bring this to market.

lol @ the epic music.

I hope Tallarico has his expectations in check for the success of this thing.

It's like they're building this for the vast "we need something identifiable as being a "video game" while not standing out too much for one of the characters to be pretending to play in this commercial/tv show/pornographic film" demographic.

...so this is one of those 100-in-1 plug and plays with slightly higher production values, then?

Even seeing a lot of the same gameplay archetypes in there.

I am a bit interested in what looks like a new Ecco in there, though.

It's a novel idea but if it's price point is too high, this thing is DOA. I respect the different approach to gaming even if the pitch sounds like a Tim Robinson sketch.

The music sounds like it's ripped from a Mass Effect trailer.

The unit looks like a diabetes blood sugar testing device from 2001.

The games look like mobile games everyone in the world already owns a device for.

The market for this is non existent.

A con like this should actually look appealing. That said, there are plenty of stupid people out there to grift.

Is there a screen on the controller? I obviously will buy it since it will follow the Dreamcast and Wii U business model.

I genuinely loved the Intellivision and am interested in the Amico, but I find it really odd that the trailer goes on and on about focusing on casuals but was presented with the subtlety of a 90s console war ad by Michael Bay. Tone it back, guys.

I don't want to be overly dismissive of something I know very little about, but my impressions of the games on display are that they look a bit like those you could have found on an iPhone in 2012.

Games are too complicated.
BA-BA-BAMMMM!

Let's all be chilled and friendly.
BA-BA-BAMMMMM!

Screw the hardcore, we love the casuals.
BA-BA-BAAAAAAMMMMMM!!!

Yet last year's trailer was touting online leaderboards, trophies and multiplayer tournaments. Now it's all couch co-op.

If this ever hits retail I'll buy one, and livestream myself eating it.

Everybody's crapping on this and I can see where people are coming from. However, I always like to sit back and see where things go between now and launch. One fascinating concept about this is that Tommy mentioned that all of the games will be exclusive which is an amazing concept if they manage to pull it off. If they price this thing in the $60-$100 range this thing could sell pretty well given the success of the NES and the SNES classics.

People need to realize that this is not competing with current gen consoles. They flat out state that they're targeting casuals so if their sales goals are to sell 3-5 million consoles I could see that happening.

There is no way they are selling 3-5 million units.

Everything they have revealed so far in terms of their strategy and business model is severely flawed.

This guy's talking nonsense trying to sell this thing. He's trying to say the family friendly party game scene doesn't exist anymore, when a lot of families with children already own a Switch and can buy one of the multitude of party games that exist on it, like Mario Party.

There's no way kids even want this, anyway. The little Intellivision guy in the mini games makes it look like some knock off Wal-Mart character compared to a character like Mario.

I'm sure the nostalgia people will buy this, but the family game night slant this guy is going for is dead in the water. It can't compete with Nintendo.

If they sell 3-5 million of these things I'll eat my own asshole.

There is zero chance of it. There is no market for this. They are creating a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
