Gatekeeper is gonna be added in because every musou game needs at least one joke character, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

It's not a 1:1 crossover in terms of audience, but the mobile game does a fan-voting poll every year and the top two male/female vote-getters get a special alt, here are the results from the first year the 3H characters were eligible:

Fire Emblem Heroes - Choose Your Legends: Round 4 - Results

The Heroes that will appear in special outfits have been chosen.

Marianne isn't the most popular after Edelgard and Lysithea. She lost to Lysithea, Bernadetta, Female Byleth and Dorothea in CYL4 which is a much more accurate gauge since it was a few months after the release of the game and most characters weren't added to the game at that point (something that has been consistently shown to effect a characters votes, only some lords being the exception).

Marianne only won the following year since the fanbase 'wanted to get her into the game' and felt she was ignored since literally everyone else was not only added, some even got a seasonal costume as well. CYL hasn't been an accurate representation of popularity for a few years now.

Going by your logic, you're also saying Gatekeeper is the second most popular character in the game? Because his combined score was 3k higher than Dimitri's.

They actually had a recent Marianne v Lysithea event. And Marianne actually won that. She's been getting more popular.

If you're talking about heroes ingame event, you got to rememver that its def not winning/losing by the popularity contest only at all, since the losing side at any moment in the vote has a x5 to x15 modifier to help them go up. It helps, but its not objective.

If I remember right, there is a legit event where fans vote for who they want to get a legends unit. The issue is I don't think units that won the previous year are allowed to go again the following year. Plus, to an extent the fans manipulate the polls. I remember one year one of the game OC's got a legends unit because she showed up at a decent spot at the halfway point for fan voting. And the community realized they could get an otherwise unobtainable character if they just mass vote for her. So they did.

Sure, but i think the poster was thinking about the events where you can choose between 4 characters that goes 1v1 with votes, represented as flags, going when do you a fight.

Through talking about vote manipulation for choose your legend, there was the case of jorge, where somebody manipulated the vote HARD to get a char that nobody remembered in the game.

yeah if the voting between the two characters is close it heavily favors the slightly less popular one since they'll get the final big boost at the end

This is what Emily said Verbatim if you guys are curious:

There are three FE games in development: Fire Emblem mainline game (FE18), Fire Emblem remake, and Fire Emblem spinoff (Warriors game announced today).

And all 3 are pretty far into development.

Mainline FE game (the one that isn't a remake) is co-developed by Intelligent Systems and Gust. Gust is providing Intelligent Systems with assistance on the visual build up on that game.

Someone DM'd me the other day to make sure Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was not the upcoming mainline FE that I had mentioned a few months ago is fairly far along in development. Needless to say, it isn't. (And to clarify, since I don't claim to be some prophet and nor would I wish to be, Nate and some other folks mentioned the mainline game back then as well!)

But despite all that, and just for the record, this is what I was told as well. Doubt me before you doubt Emily, always, but hey! It syncs, which is nice.

That's Choose Your Legends. And your right, fans have done what they can to manipulate the vote, either to boost their favorite character/popular choice, or just troll. But Nintendo/IS have implemented better measures in the past two years in particular to thwart acts like botting, so it's more difficult to cheat the vote to any substantial result.

Regardless, both Marianne and Lysithea have earned Brave units in the past, so neither were in the most recent ballot.

You're talking about Voting Gauntlets, where newer units almost universally have more support? Karla beat Tharja in the most recent one, you know.

Going by that logic, in the same voting gauntlet, Marianne is less popular than Eirika (who she beat in CYL) and Gatekeeper (meme vote).

Marianne is popular (so she's almost certainly getting in Warriors), but she's definitely not above Lysithea/Bernadetta and likely isn't more popular than Byleth/Dorothea who beat her in the closest thing to a 3H popularity poll. Hilda, Hubert, Petra and a few others got hit hard in CYL4 because they were already in the game and are only just now slowly getting more votes now.

To summarize: CYL is political, Voting Gauntlet is a meme.

Bro, you are late. Read the posts after that.

That said, is Dorothea popular? From what I've seen, she's popular in the West but not so much in Japan compared to characters like Edelgard, Lysithea, Bernadetta, Marianne and Hilda.

Interestingly Samurai Warriors 5 gives everyone the ability to equip any weapon, but their preferences give some changes to their movements, so I wouldn't be surprised if they went that route considering everyone can also use any weapons as well in 3H.

Though I wouldn't put it past them to give unique sets to the headliners, it does make me wonder how they would approach the DLC because under the given circumstances, they could make everyone playable.
It would make sense to have "free" class changes in this game. Like Edelgard has a special Emperor moveset but can be reclassed as Wyvern Lord and then get a generic Wyvern Lord moveset shared by other characters which can reclass that way.

I think the removal of the weapon triangle is a given, but it would make sense they'd reuse the 5 or 6 weapon types from the first game. So it wouldn't be a stretch to allow characters to be able to reclass within the same weapon type. Like Bernie can start as an Archer and be either a Sniper (same movesets, more combos) or a Bow Knight (another moveset that say Shamir could also use).

Given the lazy fuck they are, it's not very likely, but it would keep the FE Muso series pretty different from other Musos and in particular the Zelda Musos.

And of course all of these good ideas will be wasted by a 15 fps shitshow 😂

I very much doubt the three houses won't be fully represented. There was less characters in AoC but pretty much everyone was there from day one. And this time there will be clones. It's Fire Emblem, a Paladin is a Paladin. They only differ in skills.

I read the posts after, but no one was actually talking about what your post was actually talking about. You said: 'They actually had a recent Marianne v Lysithea event' which could only be the Voting Gauntlet event held after CYL which the first round was Brave Marianne vs. Lysithea.

It couldn't be CYL because Lysithea was already out of the voting options for the following year (which is what people were talking about). I'm very confused as to what you're saying now tbh...

This was probably mentioned multiple times throughout the thread, but if this game actually gives us a real ending to Crimson Flower, where the Edel and Black Eagles take down the Slitherers, this game will be 100% worth it.

Do you have any idea if a release late this year is possible or is it further out than that?

Kind of annoying that they gave characters new designs, but couldn't take the time to make Female Byleth's design not look like trash.

I get the impression this year is likelier than the next. Barring any unforeseen difficulties since last I heard, or Nintendo being... Nintendo, and spreading out games that are, you know, essentially finished.

Honestly, when Fire Emblem Warriors opened this latest Direct? I was sorta hoping the new one would be the closer. Buuut the other big Switch JRPG that's been farther along than some realized, XB3, grabbed that spotlight instead. Which works, haha.
