I think it was reported that the building was evacuated before it got really bad.Everyone is talking about the history and art and stuff, but was anyone inside? Did anyone get hurt?

Thank you! That's good at least.
I do not know, maybe Notre Dame also have another ceiling above the one that visitors see - a lot of cathedrals have this kind of 'fake' ornament ceiling with real one above it.Remember the roof is wood, but the ceiling is stone. If the fire started up top, there's a reasonable chance the main interior space is not burning right now.
Everyone was evacuated when the fire started out. No one is - supposedly - inside the cathedral.Everyone is talking about the history and art and stuff, but was anyone inside? Did anyone get hurt?
honestly im sorry for the loss for HumanERA. Ive never been to France, but seeing Notre Dame has me on the verge of tears.
Indeed. It's not even the first time it burns. As a matter of fact like many cathedrals, it's not that well designed, and required several "patches" to avoid crumbling.
Sad for tourism, but well we'll just rebuild it.

They are all over it the island the cathedral is on, but what do you want them to do when the fire started in the roof ?
Yeah, reminds me of watching the old Glasgow school of art that was made by Charles Rennie Mackintosh burn down (during rebuilding from a previous fire). Flames were so intense the firefighters couldn't get in for many hours. Horrible, works of art like this just turning to dust is so so sad.
How could a fire escalate like this? There must be anti-fire systems in place I'd assume.
Dude's gonna have to change his name and start a new life in the mountains.Imagine being the guy who accidentally set Notre Dame one fire.
I imagine they are not taken down, but down due to massive congestion of the mobile networks.
+1Imagine being the guy who accidentally set Notre Dame one fire.
This is one of those cases where that person or group of people are gonna need to leave the country's and change their names.Imagine being the guy who accidentally set Notre Dame one fire.
We have a suspect.Imagine being the guy who accidentally set Notre Dame one fire.
They'll rebuild it and you'll get to see it in the coming years. It will always remain a part of Paris that will last foreverThis is incredibly upsetting to me, the cathedral was among the things my girlfriend cited most frequently when she was studying abroad in France. We were planning to go next year but now it looks like I'll never get to see it.
I feel like this isn't the best time to post something like this, lol. This feels like a good reminder that everything burns in the end.
Not the time or place. Go take your nihilist bullshit out of here. This feels like a good reminder that everything burns in the end.

The bit about the roof being oak covered in lead could be concerning. Lead is not superdangerous as it is, but fumes are a whole different thing.
