Only FF Origin and FF Pixel remaster assets were leaked and seen

No, he's talking about something else.
I did get my hands on an unseen FFXVI off camera picture (which I've sent to Era's mods and won't share) that wrongly led me to believe a trailer would have been at SoP thus hyping peopla a couple of days ago.

I'm hoping we see a PS5 redesign alongside FFXVI.

It doesn't have to be "slim." Just, like, a little more compact and less ridiculous-looking.
A re-design after less than a year? Have you ever paid attention to console precedence? What you are hoping for is one of the most ridiculous suggestions I've ever seen.

I believe that Quinton said that it was weeks ago that he'd heard that it would be shown around now.

Yup! That's why I left a disclaimer about it. I didn't think it'd get pushed back but I knew it'd be wise to mention that it's been weeks so anything goes.

I hypothesized yesterday that perhaps Yoshida himself is the reason it no-showed. Maybe Square higher-ups almost won a debate on whether or not to show the game! I dunno. But it'd track?

Wasn't expecting to see this anytime before December but from the sound of it, I can't see this releasing any later than 2022. If all goes well, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect an early 2022 release.

Q3/Q4 2022 isn't "less than a year" after Q4 2020.

The giant PS5 costs Sony money to ship around the world, too. They'll want to make the overall package smaller (or perhaps more accurately, lighter) as soon as they can. Again, I'm not expecting a "slim," but they'll want to do what they can.

As far as precedent goes, Sony tweaked the design of the PS4 after about two years on the market to make it cheaper to produce. It didn't get smaller then, but it also wasn't the size of the PS5. The PS2 had seen two notable design revisions (not talking about the slim) by around the time it turned three, plus other "invisible" tweaks.

They're going to make a revision with fewer LEDs. They're going to try to make it so they don't have to include a stand. Sony always does this: they launch the system with touch-sensitive buttons and LED light bars and stuff to make the system seem futuristic, and then they take that stuff away over time to cut costs.

I'd say hoping for a restyled PS5 alongside PSVR 2 is far from "the most ridiculous suggestion ever." I'm not saying I expect it, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

People expecting it before Forspoken, its not going to happen

My bet is Forspoken - February or March 2022

FFXVI - June or September 2022

Yeah I'd say May-September is the safest bet.

Yoshida read peeps complaining about da graphics.

I thought they were fine personally.
So did I. The art is what it's gonna live or die by and that's probably a given to be great.

Me too.
Just add some obvious additional polish on top and it's fine for me. The art direction sells it alone to me. If there is a thing I want, is for them to really focus on colors and make that HDR pop.

Lol why are people assuming Forspoken is Q1 2022??? As far as I know we have no clue how far along this game is...

A CES 2021 sizzle reel of PS5 games ended with a list of anticipated release windows, and that listed Forspoken for January 2022. Sony said the information was released in error, and obviously things can change, but I can buy the idea that Forspoken might well be further along than we realize and might come out before FFXVI.They announced it before FFXVI, after all.

The team has certainly been working on it for long enough that a Q1 release is a possibility. And SE is going to want more big games this FY besides Guardians and a FFXIV expansion.

Imran after the Sony ad date leak, plus Forspoken is also supposed to be getting the full reveal later this year.

I'm actually perplexed at that info because Forsaken still has that look of "this trailer is what we want the game to look like, but we're still not sure/nothing set in stone", so I assumed it was still a ways off.

It honestly gave me Versus/XV Leviathan trailer vibes lol

Its not coming out before XVI. It was tagged with a TBA date for January 2022 in some Sony trailer and now people are running with it. They just did a tech presentation at CEDEC the other month. They're hardly even discussing the game in specific terms at all lol

There was a lot of negative response to the graphics.
They're gonna be polishing to ensure it has the same impact as Versus 13 trailers used to have

One could only wish.
Those are still the best trailers in the entire franchise.
Do we know who cut those?
People were speculating Jun Akiyama could be on XVI's team and he was on VsXIII as well, if he worked on those maybe he can do some magic here as well.
But I think more realistically they'll try to recreate what XIV CGI trailers are, but in-game.

Same, hopefully there will be stock by then 🤣

Some of y'all expecting the game to launch in Q1 of 2022 wut. This is a calendar FY23 release for SE (April 22 - March 23). Holiday release would be my call for FF and Forspoken September.

I don't think we've had an amazing mainline FF in a while so here's hoping Yoshi-P can deliver on that front. Mad respect for what he was able to do with XIV. My guess is that it will be a early 2022 release.

Considering Nomura quotes were peppered all over the trailers, I'm sure he had the biggest say on them and was probably the one cutting them.

Though, those trailers haven't been matched by anything since. So it's hard to know exactly.

So what's everyone's expectations in terms of scope and content? It seems like ideally XVI would have a scope similar to at least X but especially the original VII in terms of story and number of locations and such but XV struggled massively with this from what I hear and VII Remake is only making do with a trilogy/tetralogy at this point.

Do we think this'll be about as big of a scope as VII Remake 1 (and maybe adding 2 as well)? It seems perhaps the best we can hope for is that it is much less padded than VII Remake so even though it has a similar level of production effort and content it could be better paced or something.

Ultimately, it may just come down to using tried and true development and managerial techniques to have a smooth and consistent development, and it will blow FFVII Remake out of the water in terms of the amount of locations, story, etc. just because Yoshi-P and his business division know how to get shit done without being bogged down by needless perfectionism/excess.

I wish I had the time or patience to see for myself how FFXIV Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker, etc. are apparently the best in the series, but MMOs just aren't for me, so I'm hoping they can translate their apparent brilliance into XVI without any issues (kind of like how XI influenced XII but XII ran into issues with its direction).

After the next reveal, there should be a release date shown! Very hyped.

I am glad the scenario is set in stone because we apparently got story changes to XV up until the summer before launch in 2016. I want the cutscenes and story to be better thought out. I am excited for this team.

The target date for the game was accidentally leaked by Sony themselves. That's a much better leak than any insider who claims to know when Forspoken or FFXVI are targeting. If it was aimed at early 2022, then that tells me it was farther ahead in development

I love the telephone game of Yoshi-P saying "I want to make TGS but we might not make it" to "TGS not a guarantee" in the tweet to "Probably not making TGS" in the thread title to "Definitely no TGS" in some of the comments. Never change, Era.

It's not really a game of telephone, just the exchange between YoshiP and Yoko Taro:

As much as I'd like to see it, I'm glad they're taking their time to refine the game and stick the landing. Hopefully we will not have a game with underbaked plot like FFXV or run into dumb stuff like Door Glitch in FF7R this time. Judging by reception to Heavensward and Stormblood, we might be on for a treat at least narratively speaking.

I was in the same boat as you and a bit of dedication and commitment later, I'm in the 2.55 section of FFXIV, just before Heavensward begins and I'll say that it really got better plot/story wise.

Also, I totally played the game as a mainline FF game and just ignored any MMO related stuff, and also ignored Job stuff as well. You just have to do some dungeons with people together and honestly it's fun. The people who are running dungeons know exactly what they're doing, so you just play follow the leader.

Finally, FF14 is free right now up til the entire Heavensward arc. I'd highly recommend it, just to get a feel for the world. Again, the early quests and mostly all of ARR is a giant slog. Just trudge through it.

Mainly Heavensward, as the writer behind that expansion is the one heavily rumored to be writing XVI (Maehiro). Stormblood and SHB were both Ishikawa/Oda.

I'm up to the same point. The story really gets good after the credits roll. I've been doing alot of hunts and stuff as well though. Just under 100 hours. Level 60.
Also done all the extreme bosses apart from moogles because no one seems to want to do that for some reason

What I want to see most from this game is a 10-20 minute gameplay video where the character roams from a town to the field and just fights. Something similar to the "duscae demo" presentation we got at TGS 2014. Accompanied by a story trailer and release date.

Got the impression we could still see info dropping at TGS, but after the E3 backlash, Yoshi-P doesn't want anyone to go into TGS with the impression it's there which is fair.

I wonder about a demo. S-E likes doing that, wonder what Yoshida and Takai will do there.

It'd be incredible to have a demo this year (doubtful) or early 2022.
