I'll be watching and hoping but I am not feeling it this time. Starting to like the idea of a big FF anniversary event in February where the game has a 30 minute slot and YoshiP can show all the "selling points" as he puts it fully.

If that's the plan, I would hope they had said something by now (basically to not expect anything this month). Only a few days to find out, I guess.I'll be watching and hoping but I am not feeling it this time. I mean, that's such a weird way of looking at things. You don't have to have proof of FFXVI being an MMO when we have official descriptions & trailers as proof of FFXVI being a single-player action RPG. And there's way more combat gameplay than just one scene in the trailer, against several different enemies in different settings. We've seen cutscenes and one battle scene of one character (not a party, not even FF15 style) fighting a morbol. That doesn't proof it couldn't be an MMO, at the most it only suggests that they aren't forthright and honest if it turns out to be one.
Look, I am not one for proselytising and I know that the idea that FF16=new FF14 is a stretch. But I also said it's my belief, as in "I've got no proof".

I just don't get it. Why wait with such bated breath? The games going to come out and I'd rather them delay it years instead of rushing to meet some timeline/expectations but there isn't even a reason to think that that is the case currently.
Of course I'm already resigned to waiting years after it even comes out for the actually "full" version of the game to be playable, as is the trend of our time.
Have you folks not seen Final Fantasy fans during the versus era? This is hardly that but you cannot blame folks for wanting to see more. If it is their favorite franchise. No one is asking them to release it in June 2022. Folks just want to see it. They can put 2023 at the end of the trailer and that would be fine. But a trailer would be nice. It really isn't asking a lot and the idea that trailers take away from development is a bit eh to me. Heck, the game awards of 2019 had a Cloud short trailer in it if i recall correctly. I don't think it is impossible for it to show up.I don't understand the nonsense either. It'll be ready when it's ready.
I do the same...this thread should be locked if nothing is show at TGA, and if something is there it should be locked as well and a new one opened...I keep checking this thread every time I see a new post, damn you guys!

3I get the feeling FF7R2 won't be even teased until next E3 at the very closest.
XVI is clearly gonna be the focus
Unless for some reason it's a lower budget sequel like X-2 and XIII-2 but I don't really think that's the same situation here
Dang so even you can't drop a hint… aw man lol and whatcha writing about PK BDSP?Sadly, as of this writing, I haven't heard anything either way. But don't despair on that front - I don't always hear things either way when good things happen, too!
But yeah... it's not like the way things were this past summer when I had every reason to believe we'd be seeing the game again. Of course, by that same logic, we all know how that turned out. Maybe it's for the best that I haven't been told anything I'd feel comfortable sharing. <_<
Have insiders been saying anything to the contrary? I'm just as curious as you are on that front, even if I'm occasionally kinda-sorta one, myself. I've been very busy writing Pokemon BDSP stuff for work, haha.
Well wouldnt you look at that:
They havent posted a new image since the game got shown in the PlayStation September Showcase, so it might be another game in TGA.
If that list ended up being right, just on a month delay that would be the most hilarious thing.
EDIT: they've also liked a tweet asking if they are planning to announce a release date soon, possibly also pointing to a TGA appearence.
Before the State of Play Angie posted that the FFXVI page on Playstation.com got made, leading to the speculation (and disappointment) of a new trailer soon, alongside it the following games also got their pages updated on the same day:

Gollum is confirmed for TGA, Grid Legends got a release date and footage 4 days ago on a stream and yesterday the Tchia twitter account has been activated as well (possibly for TGA), with activity finally starting for 3 of the 5 games here, then we might have just mistaken the kind of delay between these pages being made and actual news for them, being around a month later rather than a week later.
But honestly, I am not sure what to think yet.

In the same boat for me as well, I tried to get more info but a) it's very little stuff or stuff not worth of sharing b) not inherent to marketing and any possible reveal.
I always hope it comes up at whatever the next event is though, lol.
Not sure if anyone else saw but NateDrake just did a Game Awards predictions podcast with Jeff Grubb. Seemed like they didn't think XVI was likely but I was half asleep while listening so cant recall if it was speculation or not lol
For sure, always good to take anything like that with a grain of salt, just thought I'd share since there was other interesting stuff in there. Don't worry, my clown makeup is still in reach.
I can't check it out to see if it's speculation or not, but even if it isn't, he was sadly wrong in the past about FF XVI appearing during E3/summer (like many others, tbf).
I was wondering how things were on your end! Yeah, dang! Ah well. We're all in this together. Sink or swim, we'll eventually come ashore.
...That sounded more optimistic in my head.
Yeah. This game has been surprisingly tight in terms of leaks or rumours. For sure, always good to take anything like that with a grain of salt, just thought I'd share since there was other interesting stuff in there. Don't worry, my clown makeup is still in reach.
I'm not envious at all, nah huh.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ only a couple of screens about the characters I showed you before, very little on that. But, again, 0 infos regarding marketing.
Ff16 has zero anime which means it's objectively the best ff game
The 4-5 Elden Ring type premieres comment....everyone will have their own interpretation of that. Elden Ring was an announced game already that we showed first gameplay on. It wasn't a brand new reveal. We have a LOT of new game announcements tomorrow (I think more than 10), and some are really big/triple A level stuff. We also have a lot of good gameplay reveals too, some extended premieres. One is over 6 minutes long.
Will it live up to your expectations? I'm not sure. That ER comment was more that we have a lot of variety in the show and I think 4-5 really big/meaningful announcements/first looks etc.
I'm sure you won't get everything you want though! That's just how life goes lol
It's gonna be the gaas suicide squad game and you'll like itDon't freak out, no actual news. But... Keighley on the Reddit AmA:

Yeah, considering our luck, it won't be for FF16.
Don't get your hopes up for 6+ mins of FF16. It's too far from release for that sort of showcase imo. But a short Elden Ring style gameplay reveal? Yeah, that definitely sounds plausible =)Don't freak out, no actual news. But... Keighley on the Reddit AmA:

Tiny Tina's Wonderland.
Yoshi-P has always kept his promises and when he could not, for example for Covid19, he always warned in time. We'll hear something from him this month for better or for worse ...I don't think FF16 will be shown this year. There, I said it. I don't care what they told us. "Plans change".
