I'll be watching and hoping but I am not feeling it this time. Starting to like the idea of a big FF anniversary event in February where the game has a 30 minute slot and YoshiP can show all the "selling points" as he puts it fully.

If that's the plan, I would hope they had said something by now (basically to not expect anything this month). Only a few days to find out, I guess.
I mean, that's such a weird way of looking at things. You don't have to have proof of FFXVI being an MMO when we have official descriptions & trailers as proof of FFXVI being a single-player action RPG. And there's way more combat gameplay than just one scene in the trailer, against several different enemies in different settings.
TBH Endwalker is so meaty and so good, chances are I'm not even gonna be watching this live. If they show it, great. If not, eh. Am I out of the login queue yet? Lol I'll watch this in queue.
I just don't get it. Why wait with such bated breath? The games going to come out and I'd rather them delay it years instead of rushing to meet some timeline/expectations but there isn't even a reason to think that that is the case currently.
Of course I'm already resigned to waiting years after it even comes out for the actually "full" version of the game to be playable, as is the trend of our time.

Have you folks not seen Final Fantasy fans during the versus era? This is hardly that but you cannot blame folks for wanting to see more. If it is their favorite franchise. No one is asking them to release it in June 2022. Folks just want to see it. They can put 2023 at the end of the trailer and that would be fine. But a trailer would be nice. It really isn't asking a lot and the idea that trailers take away from development is a bit eh to me. Heck, the game awards of 2019 had a Cloud short trailer in it if i recall correctly. I don't think it is impossible for it to show up.

The Versus era was literally an era. This is a year. With a trusted director that has stated that they don't want to show anything more till it is nearly ready for release. I prefer it that way as well.
Not only this, but they said they'd have the next update in 2021 and put it on their website. They haven't changed that messaging or said otherwise, so for them to not show it off without even saying "Uh nevermind guys not ready to show it yet" and updating the website to not say 2021 is pretty lame.

I think even a tease at upcoming E3 is probably too soon. I wouldn't expect anything on FF7R2 until E3 2023.

Before the State of Play Angie posted that the FFXVI page on Playstation.com got made, leading to the speculation (and disappointment) of a new trailer soon, alongside it the following games also got their pages updated on the same day:
Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Grid Legends
Tchia
Gotham Knights
Gollum is confirmed for TGA, Grid Legends got a release date and footage 4 days ago on a stream and yesterday the Tchia twitter account has been activated as well (possibly for TGA), with activity finally starting for 3 of the 5 games here, then we might have just mistaken the kind of delay between these pages being made and actual news for them, being around a month later rather than a week later.
But honestly, I am not sure what to think yet.
Yeah thats the problem, because we don't have any sort of timing when this has happened previously, the timing between the page being made and announced could vary from days to months. I do think we tend to make too big a deal sometimes about back end stuff, but also thats part of the fun of being a fan I guess.
I mean, this is an enthusiast forum, of course people are going to be losing their minds over a possible trailer, especially considering people (i.e., me) latch on to every spoken comment from the devs when it's not really healthy or smart. But I think it's fair to take them by their word as they chose to put that out and be somewhat hopeful for the biggest event of the year. Compare that to VII Remake Part 2: nothing's been said of it and it seems too soon, so most aren't that vocal about it showing up.
Plans obviously change, but I'd like to think they'd have put out a quick tweet or whatever saying so considering this is the last month of 2021. I'm usually pretty cynical, but the way some of these guys handle XIV is pretty blunt, so I mostly expect some acknowledgement. Then again, it wouldn't be shocking (nor the end of the world!) if they didn't do it at all, or did so this week/later on.
At the end of the day, it's pretty weird to get so worked up about what it ultimately is a videogame advert, even if I'm obviously part of that group. It's just so exciting, though: an all-new single player numbered FF game. The first since 2009!

Not sure if anyone else saw but NateDrake just did a Game Awards predictions podcast with Jeff Grubb. Seemed like they didn't think XVI was likely but I was half asleep while listening so cant recall if it was speculation or not lol

In the same boat for me as well, I tried to get more info but a) it's very little stuff or stuff not worth of sharing b) not inherent to marketing and any possible reveal.
I always hope it comes up at whatever the next event is though, lol.

Yoshi-P has always kept his promises and when he could not, for example for Covid19, he always warned in time. We'll hear something from him this month for better or for worse ...
