This has to be the one, right? It's focused on Third Party games coming to PS5!

Please, I need to know if there's a party or we can only play as the main male character (if there's a party, I need to know if there are female characters)!

I'll only watch if there's any indication that XVI is gonna be there.

From what Yoshida said, it's not going to be secretly there without any indication.

No way this will be at State of Play. I mean, I hope it will be, but I seriously doubt it.

I haven't played it. Seems like a massive undertaking/commitment for a game lol
If you just play story focused it's not terrible as far as MMOs go. I'm about to begin Heavensward content and have maybe put in 80 hours? That sounds like a lot if you compare it to single player RPGs, but my WoW main pushed three and a half months of playtime.

Please be the one, please have more PS5s in stock.

This is the only next-gen game that has me interested in purchasing a system, let it be worth it.

The SoP thread has a twitter post that indicated some companies like to show stuff at these things when they get close to a stockholder event, like a quarterly-results call with stockholders. As it turns out, SE's happens somewhere around 1 November, which would also be next week.

So yeah... lots of bits of evidence to get me hyped up and make that clown makeup all the more important when it doesn't show up. :D

Yeah. Massive time sink. Millions of bits of UI nonsense all over the screen. General janky vibe (because of online?). MMOs will never appeal to me. 😔

You can nix the vast majority of those icons. MMOs never appealed to me until FFXIV. For the rec, I still dislike most of the game's multiplayer aspects - I'm not like a 100% "convert" and the odds are slim I'll ever try another MMO - but since so much of the game doesn't require multiplayer, I've actually made it through and it's one of my favorite FFs. Easily.

Don't worry, I'm not going to do the whole "if you haven't played FFXIV, you know nothing, Jon Snow!!!!!" thing. But the team is working to incorporate Shadowbringers' "Trust" system into all prior content in the months and years to come. That system turns your longtime allies, the Scions - who genuinely feel more like a Final Fantasy party than you might suspect is possible - into actual party members who will fight alongside you in dungeons so that you don't need to play with other humans. It makes the game feel even more like a """real""" JRPG than it already, mostly, does.

My advice is to maybe keep tabs on when that system is incorporated into past content and if Square finds a way to apply something similar to trials (big boss fights are also a multiplayer affair) as well. If so, the entire main storyline will be playable solo. (Rather than 90% of it, as it presently stands.)

I do believe we will see FFXVI next week, and Helix is going to eat his shoes for our amusement

I started playing 14 this year and finished Heavensward, but I do feel I can't really do MMOs. They are just huge time sinks and I feel I probably would have gotten into it more if I played expansions as they came out instead of having all that content just there for me to do. It felt too overwhelming.

I am not too familiar with FFXIV, but couldn't they just announce some collaboration event with XVI and have that trailer end up also serving as a cross marketing opportunity as well in that case?
FFs don't Collab with each other until their installment is released. Noctis for example was going to be in the first Dissidia game on PSP but they didn't want to have a spin off be the "first look" the player-base has of the character. They prefer for them to debut on their own terms before they get into any cross over stuff.

As for the state of play news:
I don't think it will be there, if it is there it will be more that YoshiP felt to throw fans a bone even if it's not where he personally wanted it to be before they show it off next. He seemed very decided against showing it again "too soon" when he last spoke about it.

This is the same company that had an entire event specifically to reveal the release date for FFXV only to later delay it

The best thing about that was how they joked it was November before the date rolled back to September...only for it to be delayed to November haha

I reckon they'll keep their promise though. No reason not to. They can easily release one screenshot, or update the website with something, and that would count.

I put a lot of trust in Yoshida with stuff like this, and you'd think they would have gone back on their word by now if they're not releasing anything this year.

There's only two months left, after all.
I'll only watch if there's any indication that XVI is gonna be there.

From what Yoshida said, it's not going to be secretly there without any indication.
This is something to consider, yeah. At the end of the day, I think he was mostly referring to a situation like E3: if it's not on a released schedule/program (like FF XVI wasn't at E3/TGS), it won't be there. Since there's no schedule here, eh, I guess there's a chance.

At least FF XVI fits the descriptor (already announced PS5 third party game) and there's the website situation, but the latter is reading a lot into something that's likely nada.

Final Fantasy XV Uncovered leading to a delay and the Livestream announcing the cancellation of Season 2 of XV are examples of peak Square Enix.

I think it's different circumstances from Square's E3/TGS where they listed out a lot of their schedule and state of plays where they don't *really* tend to do that, but that's fair.

If they seriously announce a 3rd party SOP without showing XVI they are sick and evil.

like it's THE third party game

There was a lot more announced that night than just the release date. It will always be my headcanon, too, that the event was a celebration for those SE folks in the crowd who full well knew they saved Final Fantasy from cancellation.

Hai.

Today, we are proud to announce that FINAL FANTASY XVI has become FINAL FANTASY XVII. We know you were patiently awaiting news for XVI, but we have decided to revamp the project. This new title reflects that ambition.

Kingdom Hearts 4 to have a secret ending which is a shot for shot remake of the original FF16 trailer with *Not Clive* asking if this was real or not.

Its just as possible there's a shorter trailer in this before an actual showcase, which is basically what they did with VIIR. But if we're still gonna see it this year, chances are it will not just be listed on a schedule for something. I think it's a mistake to take him so literally on that point. They would be talking about something like that at this point.
