I promise you I saw none of your posts and wasn't calling you out specifically.
It honestly isn't. It's always been handled better than I would have expected and more carefully than I've seen anyplace else. The fact that we still wind up in situations like this does make me feel like an alternate reality in which nobody ever said a thing would indeed be better for people's blood pressure, though.

Ok, ARR is long and tedious, post ARR is kinda tedious but shortened now. EVERYTHING gets paid off, it's not useless. That's my advice, enjoy it.

Fair, I don't see it so it's not fair for me to say it's a joke, my apologies for that. Still, I feel like there should be more consequences for when stuff doesn't go right. I'm not asking for bans of course, but as of right now there is literally no downside to posting 'info', regardless of if it ends up being true or false.
Thank you. I'm reading some of the replies here trying to turn the tables to blame the suckers that believed them and thought I was taking crazy pills. Just so shamelessly trying to avoid blame and make "you" feel guilty for even being upset. Sure, you do hold some blame for getting hyped up on your own, but the "insiders" egging it on are certainly not blameless.
While I thought there was a chance it could be shown today, it makes more sense that Square would inevitably want it to be part of whatever show GoW, Horizon's date and GTAV are going to be in. The moment Sony makes it clear that it's a big show and their major FP games are going to be there is when the show is hitting 1m viewers before it starts.
Oh yeah! It'll come when it comes and considering we're past halfway 2021, I'm confident enough in them showing a release window (even if it's just the year) whenever it shows up next.
But I'd lie if I said I wasn't really looking forward to getting home and watching the SoP because of today's general mood lol.
And man, ER was insane if you think about it, especially considering how From tends to like their short marketing cycles. At least the From OT was great, as were Omni's posts. And that comeback was spectacular, one of the best trailers I've seen in a while, especially for the first in-game reveal. Now, nothing compares to the shitshow FF Versus XIII/XV was, especially when you judge the final product. What a trip that was lmao.
Word, yeah, I hear you. I'm nowhere near as prolific on staff as many other mods are, tbh -- I'm constantly trying to improve my CV and seeking places to contribute writing to etc -- but it's certainly something that could use some improvement, I'd say.
I legit feel like Era's done a pretty good (not perfect!) job of finding ways to respond accordingly when stuff gets bad so I'll happily put in word that stuff could use some fine-tuning. I think we all know, but I'm just one small part of a big team and some of those folks are working crazy hard to keep this community together. <3
I won't lie, I am disappointed. It's the game I'm most excited for so I really do hope to see an update on it soon. But I'm not angry at anyone here or at Sony/SE. They'll show it when they show it, whether that's next month, later this year at some event, or next year (hopefully not). And whenever they do we'll all be super excited and forget about the x months between the reveal and the update. But I am disappointed lol. Well, hungry for more, mostly.

For sure. We went through a couple of those with TGA being the worst. When kind of everyone gathered and there was some positive energy surrounding it. Then suddenly getting those dreams crushed. I'm honestly surprised by the last two SoP's with multiple game announcements from Sony. One at the very beginning of the year and now this one 6 months later with very tame announcements tbh.

I was not even planning to watch this SoP but then I noticed new posts in this thread and of course the "Insiders" hinted more that twice about it.
And I understand that "plans change" but from literally one day to the next? Heck we still got hints from a few hours before the SoP started.
Again I prefer no hints at all, so please "insiders" unless you're 99% sure don't say anything.

Fwiw I'm not that bothered about XVI not showing up (it's chances were meh at best imo) it's just that this is the latest example of this stuff happening and it's a bit frustrating.

Yeah, the From thread is great, and Omni's posts were very fun. Almost felt like a game deciphering shit, honestly, kinda like what people do with the lore of the games.
As for Sony... I agree. They've had some great games lately and have some really exciting ones coming out soon enough, but their SoP haven't been too great (they've never been tbh). Some great stuff with Ratchet, Returnal and Horizon, but as for general events, nada. I guess it's the lack of E3 and public plan that makes some to be so down on Sony right now despite them having a pretty shiny near future, but yeah.
I think they're done with big events for the time being, but I guess we'll be getting some cool stuff with GoW soon enough, which would already be better than anything they've done since September of last year imo.
I'm not saying that people giving hints shouldn't be held accountable. But we as fans should also keep a cool head even if "hints" are given. This industry has proven time and time again that it is unpredictable, and living hours and hours of your day hyping up shit is not healthy. It's one of the many reasons I don't post as frequently in this thread anymore, it's just filled with speculation and pointless hype.
Did I want XVI to be shown today? Yes. Did I watch it hoping it would be there? Yes. But I'm also not losing my mind or getting angry that it didn't. It will be shown, eventually. Today was not the day. Life moves on.
i know right? im on Heavensward right now and the stories amazing, my hype for FF16 skyrocketted because of FF14.

folks aren't really mad at you or anyone. They are just frustrated with square enix because they keep not showing the exact games ppl want lol. Until XV and VIIRs and KH3s deep marketing, it was always a bigger wait game before as you know haha.
I just think folks dont want to fall in that trap of waiting 2-3 years for a "re-reveal" so folks are anxious haha.

This. Everything is for conversations sake. We all want XVI and Forspoken and other games to show up. That dialogue can happen but folks gotta not react negatively when things don't show up. Otherwise it is all good and fun!
Absolutely. I've learned to just accept the fact that companies show their games when they are ready to. And even if insiders know stuff, it's not definive proof that a showing is coming.

Yeah, they've lost their touch I feel in how they announce stuff. They still release bangers like the ones you mentioned. E3 2016 days were glorious and those will probably never return. GoW sounds like it has something cooking in terms of a trailer and HZD has to reveal its release date. Now FFXVI could either be in Sony's or Keighley's hands for me (he's neutral and not the enemy lol).

Yeah this really seemed like a bridge to fill out the release schedule over the next few months and before Horizon's possible release. It seems like there's going to be a show more focused on 2022 titles eventually, and that's where FFXVI will be.
I don't think any of them hinting knew about all the games in the show beforehand, I imagine it's the case of that they got info about a specific game and when it was supposed to be shown.
More of a SE connection than a Sony one.
The main reason I wanted to believe was Navtra saying a while back that we should see something in the next month or so *if nothing changes* and they seemed to have a good track record, especially after just calling Origin... Anyway I'm obviously disappointed but it honestly wouldn't feel as much like FF without this drama lol.

You're totally right. The nerve of people, allowing themselves to have a little fun and be hopeful.
It's almost like there is a line between "fun and hopeful" and "toxic and mean-spirited", and the gaming community habitually crosses it when their expectations and hype aren't met.
