Getting Lena Headley to voice Luna isn't something I would have ever expected.

Ah, sorry, I read your post too fast and thought you referred to the 2021 info dump lol. Yeah, I remember being pretty excited about the website and actually being optimistic about it being meaty enough. Glad that was the case.

Nyx was allowed by the Lucian Kings to wear their power and was a puppet for them. That's why he displayed his corpse hanging like a puppet. Whether or not Noctis knew him was irrelevant. The most important people bound either by the Kings, the gods or the Crystal were displayed as mockery on Ardyn's part.

That makes sense why he was there then. I just assumed it was "Ardyn screwing with Noctis... but Nyx is there for some reason"

Was it ever confirmed that 16 was the game Ryota Suzuki (combat designer on DMC5 and Dragons Dogma) was working on when he moved to SE?

Because 16's combat looks pretty character action, and I wonder how it's going to effect potential party members/how the party system will work

He was definitely screwing with Noctis. But as he himself states, it's not really about Noctis, it's about spitting in the face of the gods, the Lucian line and the Crystal, and everyone involved with them. Noctis was just the conduit for his revenge, the personification of the gods' will.

Its the same game. The art they used when they announced his hiring was shown again as art for XVI when they announced the game and it's the same division he's working for. The next trailer will probably have staff credits in it for major players.

I wonder how party members (if there are any) will be handled then. Because from the first trailer, Clive seemed to have a really diverse moveset.

I actually never played DD.

I always took it as this game Capcom was trying to push using RE6, and got weirded out when I learned there was so much positive word of mouth surrounding it. I never got to it though

I haven't finished it, but it's good! Very interesting take on a WRPG from a JP team. I think it makes the most sense he got hired based on that moreso DMC (though the XIV staff are observably fans of DMC lol)

If it's not at state of play it will probably be much sooner than we think. Also thank you! It's from Yuna's new CGI from FF Brave Exvius. And Yuna is my favourite FF character. I love herrrr <3

It was the very generic fantasy looking setting that made me write it off initially.

So it was a genuine surprise to me when the word of mouth was so good, and it was much better than the game I thought was being used to move copies of DD

Just for the record, we did know about the site getting updated before hand. Yoshida said after the initial reveal they would do that in late Oct and, like clockwork, it was updated a day or two before Halloween.

The man keeps a schedule.

I thought we knew about the site because Yoko Taro directly asked him about an update on XVI during a stream or something? If I'm remembering things correctly, that's why we knew beforehand.

In any case, I'm more than happy with the game's visuals (a few improvements on the day-time lighting would be great), but I wonder if the game will noticeably improve graphically when it's next shown. I don't expect an insane change, but we'll probably get a more pleasing-looking game, especially given how Yoshida brought up other AAA games' visuals:
However, we were running a bit tight on time, and we hardly did any optimizing or fine-tuning, so it was a little problematic. Especially these days since we tend to compare with other recent releases.

I couldn't remember what prompted it, just that he said that and it sure enough followed up.

As I said, I hope nothing has changed. If the game doesn't show up, 95% odds they moved its next showing to some other point in time. (The 5% is just in case I was somehow mistaken from the start -- but I'd be really, really surprised?)

Oh, I hope it is shown come Thursday then! It'd be nice.

If you don't mind me asking, have you heard about the kind of content they've been planning? I assume a story trailer (especially since, if it's shown during this SoP, they wouldn't have much time). I guess a gameplay demonstration would be for late in 2021 or next year.
